Vassal Keyboard Shortcuts

By reegsk, in Star Wars: Armada

Hey all. I'm just starting to play around with Vassal, and I'm having a hard time with some of the keyboard shortcuts. First off, I can't get the shortcuts for clicking the maneuver tool to work (CTRL Right+Left). And I can't tell what the shortcuts for measuring Distance and Range bands are.

I'm running this on my 15" MBPR with the latest MacOS, and all of the other shortcuts seem to work other than clicking the maneuver tool. Any help would be appreciated.

Right-click an in game object to see it's shortcuts and commands.

Distance: SHIFT+SPACE

Range: CTRL+SPACE

Place tool: CTRL+SHIFT+LEFT/RIGHT

Notch tool: ALT+CTRL+SHIFT+LEFT/RIGHT

AFAIK the maneuver tool shortcuts don't work on Linux. Not sure about Mac (I have a Macbook Air, but I never play on it since it has a single tiny screen).

Those shortcuts, plus possible CTRL/ALT 1/2/3/4 (move along the maneuver tool) are the most important shortcuts I guess.

Yep, right click to see them all, (i love my shortcuts)

on my mac i seem to have shift + B (distance), shift + N (range)

Are you clicking a segment of the maneuver tool before using ctrl + left / right? That had me scratching my head as well!

The Ctrl + arrow shortcuts don't work on Mac, because they're OS shortcuts too (to switch between program screens or something). So I just right click everything. It might be possible to deactivate those shortcuts somehow in the Settings menu, but I haven't bothered yet. If I find something I'll post here.

The range and distance band shortcuts work very well (shift space and control space). I have difficulty getting the dice shortcuts to work. Right clicking is the most reliable, if slowest, way to do things.

If you do, you have very old ship definitions. From before 2.2.X

Spacebar, THAT'S the symbol! It's so small on my screen, I couldn't tell what it was. Looked like an underscore.

Thanks all. I appreciate the help.

Ah yes, I did wonder if that might be it. I'm only really using it as a learning tool and for crazy campaign mission planning at the mo, so I just kinda grabbed any version.

And sorry reegsk if I caused any confusion! :)

No apology needed.

Is there a helpful list of all the shortcuts anywhere? I know that I can learn them through right clicking enough times, but I prefer a paper with them printed out on it.

I did a super-quick Google search and didn't find one.

Well we're super grateful. I mean, not "hump your leg to show our appreciation" grateful. . .but grateful nonetheless.

They don't hump. But they are very, very good at drooling. And shedding. And moving my shoes around the house - yesterday I went out with the trash wearing one sandal and one sneaker (without soles).

So all things we're good at. Got it.
