When will we see the Resurgent?

X-Wing Miniatures Game has the T-70, Tie/fo, Tie/sf, Square Dish Rey Falcon and Poe's black and orange T-70.

The three Roleplaying Games are being brought into the sequel era with The Force Awakens Beginner Game.

It's only a matter of time before Imperial Assault and Armada catch up.

I'm planning on combining Edge of the Empire, X-Wing and Armada into a single narrative campaign. My original plan was to base the campaign on Resistance VS First Order. But then I got myself the Armada game and realised how awesome it is. Making patiently waiting difficult.

I'll be happy to finish my X-Wing and RPG book collection while I wait. Since the New Republic and Resistance use old Rebellion capital ships, I can collect a Rebel fleet for Armada.

But what I really want are three Resurgent Class Star Destroyers.

My guess is, if we don't see it sooner, it'll be the big release prior to Episode VIII.

How much longer do you think we'll be waiting?

A long time, I hope.

A long time, I hope.

If I'm right in my guesstimate, it'd be over a year. About September 2017. For an eager hobbyist like me, that's a very long time.

Well the Resurgent is almost twice as large as the ISD which means currently it won't fit in the game. They would have to make An Epic rules set which I personally doubt is going to happen for a LONG time

1) The Force Awakens beginner game is a Standalone Game, FFG has stated... There's nothing directly bringing everything forward and continuing in the Force Awakens era for RPGs... (At this point in time, of course... That will eventually change, but its not something that's happening right now...)

2) I would contend that we would not see anything like this, until we're either ready to hit a larger format of the game, or , there's a significant amount of scale change we're willing to put up with AND there is a Rebel Equivelant. Sure, the Storyline is heavily against one or the other, but we're a game ... and Games have to be fair and balanced in their core rules... (Its up to you to play the unfair matches on your own!)... So unless the Resistance has something we havn't seen, and won't see, I doubt we'll get a Resurgent until there's a relatively balancing equivelant...

3) Why so eager to attend to the End Times? Aren't you satisfied with all the people who are dying right now, in the Galactic Civil War that still rages? There's so much new information coming right out now in that era, thanks to the EU backbenching, that its like we have a whole new universe anyway... Why skip over it for something that we can explore when we get there? ....

1) Yeah it is. And thank the maker we're not getting a fourth line of books. Edge of the Empire is the RPG I'm playing, and I've chosen the four other books I want. Nothing else. If the TFA Beginner Game has nothing of the Resistance or First Order in it, then I'm not interested.

2) There are bigger Rebel ships. Not sure they're Canon, but I've seen an image of Mon Calamari ships and there's one which could rival a SSD. But I've seen small ships take down bigger by getting behind them. This is a game of strategy right? More than X-Wing right?

3) I'd gladly have a fleet of Imperial Star Destroyers and an Interdictor. Heck, I'm hoping to see Arquitans and Quasars, highly likely as they're civil war era and Canonised by Rebels.

But with a lot of TFA stuff being released, I just wondered when people thought Armada might get the iconic First Order capital ship. My guess is near Episode VIII. The First Order Strikes Back where Kylo Ren stands on the bridge of the Finalizer looking at a fleet of them with dramatic music playing and swarms of Ties swooping around.

I understand the hatred for the movie, even though I don't agree (except with regard to that stupid Deathstar 3), but a good looking ship is still a good looking ship. Now personally I think the ISD and MC80 (both versions) are THE BEST, but I'm not going to deny the Resurgent is a fine ship that I'd like in the collection.

I havn't seen the Force Awakens, so I'm not commenting on that side of the issue at all :D

I just feel, for better or worse, the glass-shelving of the Expanded Universe gives us a much cleaner slate for the Galactic Civil War. I feel we've got a long way and a lot of things to cover in that 30 years, before jumping ahead...

Will be right? No. Merchandising is Merchandising.

My preference is to tell a good story in the interim.

Maybe a "proper"-scale Home One- type, could be the Resurgent- Equivalent - with the MC80 being relabelled the MC80a? I could see people doing their own "wingless Liberty" conversions (or 3D-prints), and using those models as a substitute for the current one.

Victory Class Star Destroyer is 900 metres

Imperial Star Destroyer is 1600 metres

Imperial is 1.77777 times bigger.

Imperial Star Destroyer is 1600 metres

Resurgent Star Destroyer is 2918 metres

Resurgent is 1.82378 times bigger.

Remembering that Armada is not to scale, the Resurgent wouldn't be twice the size of the Imperial. Size difference would be little different than the difference between Imperial and Victory.

Personally, I find the ISD to be cooler. Much better looking ship. But seeing the miniature, when it happens, might change my mind. Probably not, but never say never.

An isd is about 8"

That is close to a 1.5 increase in size so not far off of scale.

So the resurgent would probably need to be about 11-12 inches to be close to them sliding scale and I think at least 10 inches to Feel appropriate.

Still to large for a Large base which the ISD is already pushing the limits of, they really need a New base if they want the resurgent

I've not got an ISD yet so wasn't going to mention length of models.

My calculator agrees:

The difference between the VSD 5.5 and ISD 8 inches is a difference of 1.4545.

8 x 1.45 came to 11.6

Now that's a beast! Not even sure how practical that would be on a gaming board. Even when gaming across a 4x4 mat, I almost sent a VSD over the edge.

(Not to derail this topic but I really can't wait to start getting ISDs. 8 inches! B-E-A-UTIFUL.)

My tow cents only, and I don't want to start a flamewar, but I think that TFA was ridiculously written and it's spits Star Wars in the eye. Therefor I hope we'll never see anything about it in Armada. Yuuzhan Vong coralskippers may be included at some point :)

Just goes to show that every flavor has someone that likes it

I don't particularly like the Yuuzhan Vong, but I think TFA was awful, like being written by 3 years olds...
