Spring-summer kits. More tournaments?

By Velvetelvis, in X-Wing

All the stores in my area had 'store championships' ...the ones with the coins and such.

Then regionals was a few weeks ago.

Nationals and what not is coming soon.

So...it feels like a season ramping up for the big show.

But , didn't their used to be just ongoing tournaments at the local level.

The spring.summer..fall stuff.

Shouldn't their be more smaller tournaments coming up?

Or is it a season at stores then it upscaled until world's and starts over?

Id like a few more opportunities to get wrecked at local tournaments but nobody has anything coming up.

You should start to see Summer Season kit tourney's in August (maybe late July). The Spring kits have been out for a while, so most of those events have run their course at this point, but your local spots might still be hosting them.

Well, FFG Organised Play is switching part-years this year, to separate Star Wars and Not-Star Wars games, essentially.

In the past, there were 3 Seasonal Kits, as well as Store Champs (~April), Regionals (~June), and then we're at Nationals (~August) and Worlds (~November)....

However, after *this year* - We'll be accelerating those by a few months... Which means we jump straight into Store Championships again right after worlds ..........

.... and on top of that, they've promised 4 Seasonal kits a year, instead.

Ok. So the stuff I've been going to that had blue range rulers and challenge coins and alt art threepio cards...that was the "spring kit" season?

There will be no Store Championships before the next X-Wing worlds in May 2017.

No, that was the Store Championship kit. The Summer, Spring, and other seasonal kits will have other swag. The Spring kit specifically had a Challenge coin, 2x Alt art IG88C, acrylic Ion tokens, and a big stack of Alt art Veteran Instincts.

The Summer kit is similar, but it will have an Alt art Corran Horn and a stack of Alt art Predator

probably spring kit or winter kit or even last years kits. I think this month in my area we have 2 or 3 tournaments planed. Usually have 2 to 3 a month all year round. And just because they don't have a kit, stores can still hold tournaments. Go see you FLGS owner and ask if you can run a tournament. I just ran one. Its not hard. Have them charge for entry. Something like $5, and half the proceeds go to store credit. if you have a large community there, you could organize something larger. In Phoenix we have the Phoenix Open. The main guy here puts it together. It is a couple month long event. Everyone pitches in $20 or so, and our guy out here gets fabulous custom tokens and other stuff. It is a fantastic tournament. send me a message if you need more info.

Correct, we will be jumping right into Regionals after worlds.
