Wishlist: weapons that deliver 'weapon disabled' token to target

By xanderf, in X-Wing

I'm sorry but isn't that what the face-up side of damage cards covers?

EDIT: nevermind.

I like this!

When I read the title, my initial thought was about an effect that would reduce PWTs to primary and/or secondary arcs. That would be a cool effect, too.

Ironically this would help the games jousters like the X and B out, the a wing or headhunter wingman fires off the shot, and the X/B wing is now clear to make its jousting run that turn without fear of retaliation.

Yes. And it is the bane of expensive ships.

It would (arguably) help the cheap jousters. IE., cheap enough that you can fly them alongside another ship that can take the 'disable' shot. The expensive jousters (*cough* U-boats *cough*) would clearly not be helped at all.

IE., to the extent that it helps jousters, specifically, it's only helping the swarmy ones. Which, in case you haven't noticed, have all but died in the current meta. So I'm okay with that.

Rather than completely disabling weapons, you could just reduce their power.

Weapons jammed token: "Next time this ship performs an attack, after attack dice have been modified, remove one hit result"

OR "Next time this ship perfoms an attack, this ship rolls 2 less attack dice".

Option 1 is a little nicer because 3 dice can still get 2 hits if you're lucky/have good modifiers, though it might be easier to give the opponent an evade instead.

Option 2 would mean weaker ships would be affected the same way as the original idea (though you could be like "I use expose and Jan at range one because NOBODY TAKES MY DICE FROM ME!"), and even powerful ships would be as weak as a turretless HWK (And Tie Phantoms and Ghosts be like "Oh, you're jamming us? I didn't notice.")

Just don't give them the raspberry.

...and if it meant that you had A-Wings flying alongside a B-Wing, burning their entire attack just to set up a bombing run from the B-Wing...I mean...so beautifully thematically pure! I think I'd want a game mechanic to encourage that even if the generic B-Wings DIDN'T need the help (and they do, so...yeah).
