Interesting response on facebook by FFG

By The Cocky Rooster, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

You guys rock! One question, if you're able to answer, is how often are you planning on releasing campaigns? I plan on giving you money often for these, just want to know when to tell my bank to release the funds for them :)
Fantasy Flight Games:
Not sure yet. Depends on our software dept.'s bandwidth, and how well Kindred Fire is received.

Does not work on my end as well.

If this is what the title is referencing, I agree that it is interesting. So it is not well received, FFG is going to shut down development of RtL and it's campaigns?

Yes that is the comment. Thanks for fixing.

That's certainly a glass half empty way of looking at it.

Seems like logical business sense. If something keeps selling in enough volume they will support it. Otherwise, they have to move on.

How can it not be successful ... it is being offered for free. :P

They are in no way insinuating that the app is not doing well, they are simply telling the truth. Given the success of the app so far and the spike in sales I doubt that we have anything to worry about. It doesn't hurt for them to share a comment like that, look at the response it got as an example :D

I'm hoping it does well. My BGG inbox has been flooded with Descent topics and posts since it was released.

changed my bgg rating up due the app :-)

Can someone copy and paste what FFG said? I seem to be unable to get to the FB page.

ty, I was not reading the quotes, as I thought they were just quoting what has been said in this thread and I already read it.

Fun fact "Myking04" said: "If this is what the title is referencing, I agree that it is interesting. So it is not well received, FFG is going to shut down development of RtL and it's campaigns?" Since he forgot an "if" in the second sentence, I thought FFG said they will shut down development of RtL.

I'm glad that's not what they said.

I think this statement was meant more in the sense of "If the app is very successfull, we will release more content faster than what has been planned." Imo there will be at least 2-3 campaigns, even if it's not doing so well.

Maybe I'm an optimist, but I don't read their comment at all negative. It's like most software departments, they want to devote workload to projects that are worthwhile. This means that if Kindred Fire is well received, we can expect to see faster releases of new DLC. But if it's lukewarm, but still a decent amount of downloads, RtL will continue, but not at breakneck pacing. I don't read anywhere that they would cease all production after one campaign if not "blockbuster" status.

I agree though that the likelihood that a massive free app for one of FFG's most prolific games isn't 'well received' is pretty slim.

Can't wait to play.

thanks DAMaz, I just noticed the missing "if", and it sounded very differently without it.

That's certainly a glass half empty way of looking at it.

Development process for anything is the same, and companies will look at numbers not individual feedback. So will look at average rating, overall reception, and when this numbers are not good. Usual tendency of companies is to abandon projects.

For RtL though, I don't believe FFG this will abandon this too easily as the app is free, unless their marketing strategy was to market the app to increase the physical game sales only.

My statement was best interpreted by DAMaz, "If the app is very successfull, we will release more content faster than what has been planned."
