Imperial Assault Card DB and Search

By jacenat, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

So I know IAwiki exists and I used to use it to check up on card text when I am not at home and just want to get my IA fix while daydreaming. But somehow, IAwiki doesn't go far enough for me. So I tried to come up with something, and I did.

Introducing:

Boardwars.eu Imperial Assault Image DB - http://cards.boardwars.eu/

Not only is it sorted by releases, it also includes the newest releases including Bespin and Wave 6. So if you ever wanted to know which pack this awesome command card or skirmish upgrade card is from, just search it on the site, click on it and in the URL it should tell you exactly where it's from.

Things that are not included though are:

  • Content from the Campaign Guides and the Rules inserts of the Ally/Villain Packs
  • Skirmish Mission cards

There are no plans to include these in the future.

What is planned is the completion and expansion of the tag system with which you can search (command) cards by key words that appear in the text. A sneak preview is when you enter "VPs" in the search box that currently brings up this result including "Celebration" and "Price on Their Heads".

And if you are on our discord server and want to link cards directly in the chat, just type !iacard <searchtext> and our trusty "Card2-D2" will try to find the search text on the site. It will look something like this:

For feedback, you can reach us on our Facebook page , our discord server , and like always via mail to [email protected] .

When searching the site for "Opp", It came back with 4 results. Clicked on "Opportunistic". No test listed other than an image of the card. Clicked on the image, got image and nothing else. Paged through next 3 results, same thing.

Besides the URL, where is it supposed to tell you which set the card is from?

Great.

You I right, I thought I already did something to display the folder at the top. Evidently I didn't. I'll edit the post accordingly.

Also: Tags have only been implemented for core box command cards so far. They do have to set manually, so they are a bit of work ^^

If you look at " Inspiring Speech ", you can see it's tags at the bottom. Currently that would be "Leader" and "Focused". This will be expanded to all command card in the future, and probably I'll include additional tags. ETA: ... when I have the time :)

Will tags include something like 'class card', or 'Ghaarkan' or 'Agenda'? I ask because while I was able to find a class card, I couldn't browse to other class cards in the same set. And there doesn't seem to be a way to browse all agenda sets without having to navigate to each individual expansion....

Otherwise I'm impressed till now. When we were setting up our most recent campaign I was annoyed that the wiki didn't include all the latest expansion details. Since I have all the cards and my friend was going to be Imperial Player, she had no way of getting agenda information ahead of time from the wiki.

(fixed typo)

Yes. I started with command cards purely for research purposes to see if it's possible and feasable.

Planned tags also include expansion (for box expansions), Pack name and maybe Wave (for Packs).

As for Agenda Cards, I have no clear solution so far as how to organize things. Multiple cards per set. Multiple sets per expansion ... hard to find somethign most would agree upon. But I am still keeping an open mind about it. They will get the "Agenda" tag for sure though.

Yes, I started this mainly for myself to look at them while on public transportation. But once I settled for a gallery approach, I figured I can publish it openly. I have a simiar solution for private use where I have all campaign and side missions scanned, but will not publish that for obvious reasons :)

I wonder if an offspring of the Netrunner.db page could/should be made for Imperial Assault.

I actually talked to Syd who forked ringsdb.com from netrunner.db and also Beorn from hallofbeorn.com about the possibility of adapting such a system to IA a few months back. However, due to the different release structure and how cards are handled in IA I ultimately opted against that.

Campaign is too vast and complicated for a simple deckbuilder and Skirmish is covered very nicely by ia-armies.com. Not to discourage anyone though! I would be happy to retire this DB for a better offer by someone else.

This is awesome. thank you!

No offense to the IA crew, I've used their army builder a lot and like it, but I think a site similar to netrunner.db would be extremely helpful in maintaining your squads and it has better save/discussion/keeping-track-off features. Unfortunately I'm clueless with regards to running and maintaining such a site.

Very useful! Thanks!

Thank you for your work. This is indeed very useful.

Jabba's Realm and Wave 8 are no on the Card DB!

Jabba's Realm: http://cards.boardwars.eu/index.php?album=Expansion-Boxes/Jabbas-Realm

Wave 8: http://cards.boardwars.eu/index.php?album=Ally-and-Villain-Packs/Wave-8

Jabba's Realm is missing the Story and Side Mission cards, and they will be uploaded in a few days, but all the important stuff is there.

Also the bot got an upgrade for stability and usability. Trusty Card2-D2 is better than ever.

Have fun! :)

I found two small errors. The first is the name of Kayn Somos Agenda mission, typo. Should be Strength of Command (the h and t in strength are swapped )

The other is the story mission back in the core set is showing the Hoth back.

Hi Neosmagus!

Gonna correct that. The card back for the core box story missions will take a while, but the Kayn Somos side mission name is already fixed. Thanks for the corrections!

I'm writing an app for myself where I link to your images (and I'm using your DB to populate all the cards) so if I spot any other errors, I'll let you know.

Do keep me updated on the app!

Its a replacment (or at least a companion) to the campaign log app currently available. My idea is to make it very generic and easy to update. It won't be strict to the rules like the other app, allowing the Imperial player to assign additional xp or credits if they want. It will mean more manual data entry. So it won't really replace the other app with its functionality.

I love using the other app but my main complaints are the time it takes to be updated, and the inability to customise rewards (like additional xp) or track custom campaigns.

Additionally you can then also view images linked from your DB.

At the moment it's still very early, I only have some elements complete, and it will be mostly personal use. But if I find a good cheap hosting option I can make it publicly available.

The DB has been updated with the Wave 9 contents :)

Thanks a lot for the effort. It is much appreciated.
