Search your feelings, Cuban. You knew it to be true.
This is important. Study it. Know it.

Dibs on the measuring sticks?!?
"This is an impromptu episode with no real direction..."
You mean there are planned, and concise episodes out there?
I think you're excused, Cubes. It didn't take six weeks this time. Now, how long until we feel motivated again ...
I want to see someone really come out of left field with a Nationals-winning list. I don't have the creativity. The pull towards Demo and/or Rhymer/Rogue/Bombing is too strong for me to overcome now.

Run max tie fighters and 2 ISD ;-)

I feel like I should give you guys a recipe for a proper cucumber vinegar salad.
I still believe that 2ISD MSU archetype is strong enough to be a contender there.I want to see someone really come out of left field with a Nationals-winning list. I don't have the creativity. The pull towards Demo and/or Rhymer/Rogue/Bombing is too strong for me to overcome now.
If this is the answer I don't know how to fly it through Rhymerballs but I do of course believe that anything could win. Match ups match ups match ups.

I believe that nowadays Rhymerballs can't afford to be without spending some points on AS protection. Once they do it, they aren't going to kill ISDs fast enough. So.. either kill the carriers, go for AS in the beginning or kill enough and disengage. In the end it'll come down to a player's skill. Is this build at disadvantage against a Rhymerball? Yes. Is it unwinnable? Not at all. And it's advantage is that people aren't going to bring hard counters to it (or know how to fly against it). So in my mind something like it does have a good enough chance to win to not be discounted.
I'm not going to Nationals so this is more of a theoretical discussion anyway.
lots of laughs lots of laughs.
As always, thanks for the overtime/ride home entertainment!
I think now, the game has pretty much cemented itself into the best wave 2 has to offer. And match-ups are a huge part of the game at this point. Hell, if everyone is playing tight, you're not really out with a minor loss.
Thanks for the shout-out. I know out of all of us I did not have the strongest accent!!!
Was a fun listen on my run today, so thanks for that, mates. I think I generally agree, there's two very common Imperial archetypes that are well represented even if they aren't necessarily all powerful. Match ups will continue to determine a lot, but going in to high end tournaments with more on the line means that I would expect more general thought to be given to those archetypes as well as potentially the more nebulous Rebel 'archetype' in the Rieekan Aces set up. Thus, more efficient tools will be used to deal with the threats, or to accomplish tasks. Thus, I don't think we'll see a significant departure from what we've already seen. That doesn't mean that what we've seen is the only forces capable of winning. The game is still well balanced and skill seems to factor more into the equation than dice.
Likewise, I agree with the Vet Gunners statement. But just as a hypothetical question, if you don't mind: would sensor teams and vet gunners be more attractive if they took up a Support slot rather than Weapon Teams? And would Ordnance Experts be significantly less attractive if it was an exhaust?
glade to hear you guys are also seeing problems in the tournament structure as well
Listening through again. I do appreciate that after calling me out two episodes back you spent an entire episode answering my question ![]()
@Vykes Absolutely the slot an upgrade takes up is just part of its cost, so changing that does change the cost significantly.
For the sake of entertainment we try to have hard takes, i.e. "this is the best upgrade in the game" or "that is definitely going to win" - except Skyshuffler I guess - but I don't think anyone really believes anything is so black and white. Like Stasy said, though, it feels like the Wave 2 world has pretty well crystalized into what it will be until new stuff comes out.
As an aside, I don't think flotillas are going to change that dramatically.
I run Rhymer Dengar Howlrunner Tie Fighter 4 TIE Interceptors.
Its shreds enemy fighters, especially Firesprays. Also all those blue dice will do work vs enemy ships. Its like adding 4 blue dice to an attack every time that ship activates. Also by generally shredding squadrons I get up on pts very quickly.
I would argue that Rhymer may be the only Auto include in the game and if you don't take Rhymer then you take demolisher.
Also I agree Tarkin, I think a Rhymer + Demo list will take down a big event soon, I have been dojoing it up for a while, I just love my ISDs too much to not play them.
