Massive Darkness

Depends. Some have quoted different boxes... some that were KS priced at $25 were released for $32. Some the margin was closer ($25 > $28). Actually, a little bit, but not that much more.

I'm also hoping the Kickstarter ending on the 7th, may allow the Pledge Manager to be open till August. I doubt it... usually it is just a couple of weeks, but if it does make it, my add-on purchases will be significantly more!

Oh my Goodness..... this new Helephant thing is insane..... one of the most badass miniatures I've ever seen!

Yeah, I like the Hellephant! Luckily my wife wanted Valerie... so I was able to add-on that box! Woot!

So many Add-Ons though. I got an Early Bird pledge and I'm already at $200, and I still don't even have everything I want.... I REALLY don't want to end up spending close to 300 bucks on this game before all's said and done.

Info I can't find. Do any of the add-on boxes come with additional treasure cards?

I'm itching to pick up the NPC zombies 2 box as soon as it's released for ZBP so I can get even more artifacts on the board.

The Hellephant is very tempting, but while I first thought I'd pick up all the hero boxes, since I can get the class sheets online there's really no rush and I can potentially wait for retail.

I'll see if anyone knows on the additional treasure cards. That's a good question.

And for Kickstarters from CMON, they are definitely taking a different approach with this game. They stated it from the beginning and are sticking to it so far. They appear to be trying to be more retail friendly, which means most of the important upgrades are (which have the heroes and big boxes of monsters) are going to be available for retail sale and do still drive the income from the Kickstarter, but not as much because it isn't exclusive. I think it is a good change and I am willing to wait on getting some things since I know I will be able to buy one or two sets of them when they come out.

Thiago (Lead Developer and Magic 8 Ball User) stated that there will be no additional treasure in the hero vs. monster add-on boxes. Only the spawn cards.

Thanks for checking. Takes a little pressure off my wallet. Might still get the rats and hellephant. Hmm.

I don't think ANY of the stretch goals or boxes have extra treasure or artifact cards yet. A lot of people want that sort of thing too, so it might be one of the last add-ons if we end up getting something like that at all.

Wow, that troll stretch goal is a nice mini.

I'm a complete kickstarter noob, but if you figure the game will sell for around 70.00 on sale, then really the extra $50.00 will get you 8 extra heroes, 37 "mob" minis, 16 wandering monsters of which 14 appear to be larger than hero size, 6 extra tiles, a expanded campaign guide, and 25 environment minis (pillars and treasure chests)?

Holy crap, the price per mini is insane... I'm so far ahead in the game I can probably justify buying all the miniatures addon...

Those all look like pretty good value as is, except for the elemental box. Not sure why that one isn't 27...

Yeah the elemental seems overpriced. Maybe if I could hold the minis in my hand and see for myself... but I might end up dropping that one. I'll probably be able to grab it at retail someday if I really feel I have a shortage of roaming monsters.

Oh goodness, they added the Lizardmen Reptisaurians! I simply must have them and the Skaven Ratlings!

It's like they are saying "This is as close as your are going to get, to us doing a dragon"

Yeah, I asked in the comments if they ever bundle these things up. Seriously, if they can get me a 10% discount I will buy all the mini add ons. If not, I'm much more likely to wait for sales to pick this stuff up.

I'll get the Ratlings and Reptisaurians regardless.

Oh dear, I may have started a riot :P

I feel awkward asking questions like that in their kickstarter, but I really am curious how long after rewards are shipped everything will hit retail. If I don't have to wait long, MM and CSI give 30% discount on current CMON titles so no reason to expect anything different for this one.

I'm definitely in for the game, and marble dice and ZBP add-on. I'm wavering on adding the doors/bridges and hero packs as I'll have a ton of heroes to start so I can put them off. And if the wait won't be long things won't have time to get stale before big savings on the minion boxes show up.

Yeah, I'm in now for the game and ZBP cross over. I'll bump up to $192 since I really want the Ratlings and the Lizzies. But in all seriousness, if they allow me to bundle all the miniature boxes for $160 as opposed to $190, I'll update my pledge right now in order to get this stuff early.

Otherwise, I'm like you, I'll wait and get it for even cheaper through MM or CSI. My kickstarter pledge has more than enough to keep me busy.

With their last Kickstarter, it was a mix of SOME things being available early and SOME things being available later. I would expect it to be nearly exactly the same here. Here's the breakdown for some previous trends from CMON and Guillotine games:

Core Game box - Ships much earlier as a surprise. I would expect CMON to ship you the core game by Christmas - months ahead of schedule if possible, partially to be nice and cool, but also partially to make room in their warehouses. This would be probably only for original backers, NOT for people who do the late pledge. If they do this it'll be a "surprise" and you won't get charged shipping. So big bonus on the core game, giving you a few months to learn the basic rules before having a TON of extra content.

Some expansion content - You are likely to see the core box and SOME expansion content hit store shelves before all deliveries of the final product go out. For the last 2 zombicide KS's I backed this meant the big-box expansion (Angry Neighbors and Wulfsburg) were on store shelves before kickstarter backers had them. For this game it's going to depend on what gets printed and shipped to their warehouses first. Probably the Base game and maybe the 1st two boxes announced, like the cockatrice box or something.

But by the time you get your final shipment, it'll be probably at least 2 months before retailers have the other stuff you do. For Zombicide Black Plague, some stuff STILL isn't going to be available until mid august and I've had my stuff since early June.

Also - Coolstuff's discount prices for the optional buys... are EXACTLY the same as what I paid through the kickstarter. So I'm assuming that something like the Elemental Pack, will probably MSRP for $50-$60 ish, and the SALE price will be 40, so you are probably still getting a fairly good deal to pledge for it now.

It really depends. Do you have to pay separate shipping costs?

I also love bargain shopping and utilize holds and deals to get great prices. I picked up ZBP at cardhaus for 59.99 which was an absolute steal. Because I usually don't play until stuff is painted (I'm weird like that) I will seriously be picking away at this game for about a year after I receive it.

Also didn't ZBP ship early due to their warehouse overflowing? Not sure, I just heard that.

Only pay ONE shipping cost. If they split your shipments up, they eat that cost, not you. Shipping is usually something like 15 bucks or less for everything too.... very reasonable. CMON must have some kind of bulk deal with fedex or USPS or something. I think for Zombicide Black Plague I only paid 13 bucks , and I had several optional buys.

And yes Zombicide Black Plague, and Zombicide Season 3 BOTH shipped their base game out months early due to the warehouse being full. This game is looking to be similar in scope to Zombicide Season 3, so I'm expecting that there will be an abundance of Core Games again, thus a similar situation resulting in us getting the core game months before anyone else. Which for me... works out PERFECTLY. I get to play the original heroes, play the core game, learn the rules..... learn to truly appreciate the core game on it's own... LONG before adding all the extra monsters and heroes and content.

Cool, I wasn't sure about the shipping. That certainly makes those prices more palatable. I guess the big problem is I can resist those mini-packs. I can't resist a bargain.

Looking back at the ZBP kickstarter and comparing add-on prices to retail, only the Deadeye walkers got more expensive at retail, making them a smart add-on choice to save $2 from MM and CSI prices. All the add-ons $25 or less match up with the prices you pay at MM and CSI. For the add-ons $30+ you would save $2 by buying at MM/CSI (assuming free shipping), but they aren't released yet.

My conclusion: Decisions are hard.

Here's some additional food for thought.

Not EVERYTHING is going to available at retail.

One example - Limited Print runs. The Jovam Nerd set was an "extremely limited print run", (artist pack for Black Plague), and you probably won't ever see it in a retail store.

Another example - some stores only make a partial selection in deciding what to stock. Coolstuff for example, only has about half of the artist packs in their system. I'd MUCH rather buy there because they are local to me so I can walk in and avoid shipping, but there are SOME packs I'd like to get, that they don't sell so I'd have to split my order up, or go with someone like MM, and then I'm gonna have to pay shipping if I don't decide to spend 100 bucks or more.

One thing is for certain, I'm really glad these optional buys are not KS exclusives. I suspect I'll wind up with all of them at some point regardless of when I buy them.

48 hours left on the kickstarter. If anyone is still following this you may want to take the opportunity to jump in. $120 is a pretty big amount for some to swallow, but this is some of the best value for money I've ever seen with a board game.
