AT-AT in IA

By Incredibul, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

I was just playing Mice&Mystics, there is a similar situation to Imperial Assault with the cat Brodie beeing too big for the game's scale. In that game, the cat shows up, but is just a paw token:

I'd love a campaign mission with AT-AT Foot Markers stomping around the battlefield, changing the line of sight... and of course beeing a threat.

Also, a small Tileset inside an AT-AT would be fun, too. Would be very small, but you could make both levels with an stair/elevator tile connecting upper and lower part :)

Using feet-tokens could actually be a decent way to pull of an AT-AT in this game. The only issue would be defining the rules for foot placement.

In M&M there's only one cat paw. With the AT-AT if you wanted all four, you'd need some sort of rule sin place to keep the feet a certain distance apart so the AT-AT doesn't end up playing Twister.

What if they made two legs on each token (3 or 4 spaces long 1 wide) and the rule is that each pair of legs has to stay within something like 4 spaces of each other, and they turn together etc..

So using the patended FizzGrid technology:

[_][AT][AT][AT][_]

[_][__][__][__][_]
[_][__][__][__][_]
[_][__][__][__][_]
[_][AT][AT][AT][_]

Now figures can move around the AT AT or underneath it even, use the legs to block LOS etc. And if it is attacking just make sure the figures are 2 spaces away from the legs and not inbetween them etc.. or maybe it is just part of a map effect where it auto fires on any figures that are X spaces away, end of round effect or some sort. Making it player controllable might be difficult.. and OP.

It would severely limit which maps it can show up in, but that is how it should be to keep it thematic anyway. And then a map inside of the AT AT would be awesome as well.

The at-at is way to big for IA but it would be cool

I say, if you want AT-ATs, go play Rebellion. And I mean that in a nice way. Theyre just too big and would too much of an issue. Now if they made some tiles of a "crashed" AT-AT or the inside of one as missions, thatd be cool.

What about breaking into an AT-AT HoodieDM? The players have to make it to a point on a map, the foot falls, they pass a strength test, then work their way through the AT-AT until they make it to the cockpit objective?

That's an Incredibul idea.

I agree with you. It isn't a skirmish weapon, its a pitched battle weapon, especially given that most of the maps have only a portion outdoor. It would be better just to have cards that simulate its ranged attacks. I don't think there is anyway for an AT-At to move around, and its realistic arc of fire would be many squares from the feet before it could strike the ground. It would be like an battle ship in a small lake.

They already do this in campaign. You use the tokens as "boulders" or as "turrets". I am sure the designers can do the same thing. Wouldnt even need a card, it would simply be in the mission objective points.
