Couple of questions about locations

By Evenfallen, in Battlestar Galactica

Hi

First, I want to say that this game is beautiful. Despite long time play and several glitches (like sympathizer) its most deep and challenging game from long time. But, to the point. I got some question about locations, which came to us during last play.

1. FTL Control - If the player uses FTL control as action and fleet jumps, does he need to draw Crisis card as normal ? There is nothing in rulebook about it and i`am not sure.

2. Command location - If the player uses command location, can he activate one Viper twice ?

3. Administration - Can player choose himself to election ?

4. Admiral’s Quarters - Same as previous, can player send himself to brig ? (For example, because he don't want to draw Crisis card for some reason)

His turn isn't finished - jumping the fleet is his normal action. He draws a crisis card as usual. Why shouldn't he?

There was some discussion about this. I think the latest update was that he indeed can.

Have seen it being used in another way only once. :P

Yes he can. But it would be tremendously stupid. Losing the ability to draw a crisis card does in no way alleviate the penalty of not being able to contribute to skill checks any longer.

Thx Mike for quick reply.

About FTL:

I was really convinced that his turn is over. Maybe I was little too exited about this "clean all the board, leave problems behind" thing . Maybe I interpreted this situation very similar to auto jump, after which the turn is over, but now I see that we played wrong.

About Admiral’s Quarters :

I know that this move is rather stupid, but I can imagine situation when this may come handy. In our last game, lots of raiders went after our civilian ships. During one attack they will destroy 3 of them if there will be raider icon on crisis card. It was Roslin turn. She can communicate with civilian ships and retreat 2 of them, but 1 was still in danger. It was late in the game, and resources were low. And then my friend asked me if he can put himself (Roslin) in jail to save all ships. Next player, Apollo with Firepower card can definitely destroy all of them. At the end, Roslin used communications location, but question remains.

And Ive got one more question

Baltas special ability allows him to draw one card after drawing Crisis card. Does it means he can use it in this test ? And he can draw Crisis card, look at it and then draw a skill card ? Or he have to resolve Crisis card and then draw a skill card ?

I believe this is covered in the rules by this phrase from page 25, under "Activating Vipers": "Each viper may be activated any number of times during a player's turn..."

So, the way we play it, when using the Command location, any of these are valid: move the same viper twice, attack twice with the same viper, move and attack with the same viper.
