Errata a Big Deal?

By CastorTroy, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

I've got all the Descent expansions and I bought them pretty much on release day. Is it worth upgrading to the later versions with fixed errata or is it not a big deal? I actually haven't been able to play a full game yet and it's just been sitting on the shelf. Are the errata changes mostly minor? I feel like I should maybe get the base game and sell off my old copy since that seems to have the most errata.

For the most part, I'm not aware of actual reprints of expansion cards (that is, the errata may not have been put into print.) For the base game, this has occurred with some of the cards, but not many overall. Additionally, depending on when you bought the game, you may already have a good number of those changes (for example, my base game is from late 2013, and I have updated quests and overlord cards). Note that the current base game comes with Heirs of Blood, not The Shadow Rune.

Not a big deal. As long as you have the errata and FAQ PDFs handy you should be good to go.

Good to hear! So most of the errata is just a better way to explain some of the things or does it actually impact gameplay? Seems kind of difficult to have to always remember certain things say for character abilities, that aren't necessarily on the cards you are using.

I, personally, use sticky notes with reference to errata (if explanation is too long) or sticky notes with errata change directly on them. This way I have all the information in rulebooks (and campaign books) without having to worry to damage books.

Wait, what, really? I got our box just last Christmas, and it only came with The Shadow Rune. Everything I find online also only ever mentioned The Shadow Rune as the base box.

I hadn't even considered getting Heirs of Blood, much less conceived of the notion that it'd be some kind of base quest. I was always sad that all the base/expansion quests seem to have a pretty weak narrative, though.
