Hello Ian.
Well some of the back drop is Kit Bashed from model WWII Ships, aircraft ,cars, and the back wall is from a large collection
of electrical supports from a computer bank tower.
but the other floor sections are printed from SCI-FI Floor Textures I found on line........and there are hundreds !
there is also another avenue I found. a company that makes 25mm figure game scenery.
They do some fantastic sci-fi scenery........
http://www.battlesystems.co.uk/
I bought 3 sets just for the floor tiles,( they are well made, printed on thick card. and not expensive ! ) the other pieces will come in very handy when i finish building the rest of my Hanger set piece.
The other plates are printed from a texture I found on line. I printed them onto A4 label paper....Sticky Backed and then applied them to plastic card sheet. and cut them to size........
These pieces are kitbashed, and then all plastic welded together on some ridged plastic card.
with holes drilled for the Xwing Miniatures to slot into......
These aren't actually finished yet.
they have only been sprayed black with a light dusting over at different angles with grey primer
to create a bit of false shading. needs some drybrushing with a lighter grey tone and detail painting yet.
Ill also display some of the images that I printed out from my online search should you or anyone else want to......Have a go
All the best.
Barry.
Edited by Barry HarkerHere are some stock images in there format size, should anyone want to have a play and make some hanger diorama pieces.
these images are not mine or owned by me, they are simply out there freely available on line
Have fun
There are hundreds more out there on line like these, freely available for people to down load and use.
its more texture mapping for games, but just as good for printing out and making Scenery set ups for an Xwing Miniatures Hanger....or anything else that comes to mind
All the best,
Barry.
Edited by Barry HarkerThose launch bays look brilliant...thanks for the link to the scenery, too
...not sure how much you pay for your styrene strip/tube etc, but I've been getting mine from here lately:
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Dorspring-Models/Styrene-Plastic-Strip-Tube-/_i.html?_fsub=984396519
currently got a 20%-off sale on a lot of it, and also always does a 'buy 3, get £1 off' deal on most of it, and free p&p
It's a bit shorter than the Evergreen stuff, but I've always had really prompt service from them.
Wow, another great post...thanks for putting those up...backing them onto plasticard is an ideal approach
Absolutely amazing as always!! I feel honored that my Upside Down Mist Hunter could spark an idea. Compared to what you did with that ship my version looks like a 3-year old made it.
You truly are an artist Sir! Thanks for sharing!
Oh, WOW!!
Awesome work!
Good stuff as always though I particularly like your 'Hind'. However I don't get much of a Star Wars vibe from it but rather I feel like it belongs to Halo or something similar. Still, it's a good looking model.

That is the Idea Ken. I don't want any of my Mandalorian Commandos looking like they belong to the "Normal Star Wars Universe"
I want these Scum & Villainy Mercenaries to look very different.
All heavily camouflaged and some of the vehicles heavily modified.
I now have a large collection of all of the Factions in X Wing.
These guys are a break from the norm.
All best,
Barry.
Carrying on with the repaint of My G1-A HIND.
This model is going to Fit in with my other Mandalorian Commandos. they are different Squadrons with in the
faction. My protectorate fighters, Y wings and Shadow Caster are Ariel Support.
While the G1-A HIND and some soon to be added vehicles are aimed at the ground attack role.
So they will be Camouflaged accordingly.
And as I have built the G1-A around the look of the Hind, The Russian Camouflage schemes look superb too.
The Paint scheme will be a Khaki Beige and Wood land Green. with a " Spitfire Duck Egg Blue" for the under belly.
I used White tack rolled up as a mask for the the green once the model was sprayed in Khaki......
These Models are not meant to fit in with the "normal look" of the Star Wars Universe.
Im going for something different with this collection of models
All the best,
Barry.

Barry, did you steal the Mars Mission logo?
Shows how long it is since I've been in Halfords...never realised they did a range of spray camo paints!
...another top tip!
Lots of cool stuff here! Like the creativity on the modifications. Keep up the good work

Your right. It is very close.
My Brother designed the logo.
He is a graphic designer.
Left it up to him.
I like it though....so i won't be changing it.
Besides......not like there will actually be a manned Mars mission any time soon !
The Human race is to busy burying itself in petty squabble's and waisting money on lost cause's.
A Mars missison like that where everyone got together would be an impressive driving force of nations working together to achieve a legacy.
The technology and knowledge gained from something like that would lead to so many great things.
Oh well...I guess we can dream.

You also get twice as much paint as in the Humbrol spray tins.
But overall costs less.
Halfords spray paint is really good !

Thanks Northern.
All the best.
Barry.
Wow, I just read the 10 pages of this thread (and other awesome threads on this section) and I do not regret it. Awesome and very inspiring work, plus you are always willing to share tips and resources, I tip my (virtual) hat to you Sir!
I recently started slapping paint on my Xwing models, and felt kind of bad doing so at first. I have no problem painting minis of other ranges (infinity, Mordheim, 40k and so on) but for some reason, I felt stupid painting over pre-painted minis.
You have cured me. Time to start modding.
@Kay Wroshyr: Welcome aboard! Barry has like four or five different threads on painting & modding; all worth seeking out. One in particular that's useful for shy painters is on creating weathering using colored pencils, but from the sound of it, you're probably pretty comfortable painting already. Hope to see you posting pics soon.
