Harker's SCUM Re-Paints & Conversions
Uhh I think you got the aux arc wronge the YV666 auc arc is forward it cant fire back at all
I see your point.
I took it from the rule book you get with the model.
and as its always the high lighted area for firing Arc.
Me and some other friends took it as normal front firing arc.
and rear firing arc......like in this photo.
However the card High lights normal forward firing arc and then secondary auxiliary
firing arc to the left and right.
FFG Either got the graphics wrong in the rule book.
or the card wrong on the model.
I can see why there has been a lot of confusion over it.
taken from the Card your right.

The YV's Aux Arcs are the black section on that image, yes. Everything that is grey is NOT an aux arc; it's either front arc (the ... front arc) or not an arc at all.
Otherwise, why would it says arcS, plural? If it were the rear half, it would be only one arc.
E: though it's true, that image is super unclear, and will always be difficult to make clear without arrows pointing to the arcs.
Edited by thespaceinvaderYeah they really could have done a better job marking it more clearly
Yes your right Adam.
My friend Argued until he was blue in the face.....it has a rear firing Arc.....until I made him realise the card shows the proper firing Ark.
Enough of the Rules,
Back to building ships.
As well as building a modified Jump Master and another YT.
I'm doing a Protectorate Fighter Bomber.
From parts of a Y-wing,T70 engines and Styke interceptor.
Ready for wave 9.......that protectorate fighter looks and sounds fantastic.
Needs some fancy Y-wings as a heavy fighter bomber to join them.
I'll have some photos this weekend.
All the best,
Barry.
It's a Jawa Bantha Poodoo Trading Vessel....you can smell it arriving !
Thanks Ian.
All the best,
Barry.
A little more work on my Custom Firespray.
added some more panel's........getting tedious now, but still loads to do !
looking forward to finally getting round to painting it.
I have had it sat on my desk for so long.
I decided to give it a thin coat of Primer, to see how it is looking so far.
its only when you get a single coat of colour on a model, that you then really see how and if its all working.
here it is so far....
Still lots to do. but its getting there.
Protectorate Heavy Fighter-Bomber
Since watching Rebels and seeing those Awesome looking " Fang Fighters "
I have wanted to build something similar, and with FFG releasing the Protectorate Fighter in wave 9,
I decided to build a heavily customized Y-wing.....( Yes another one ! )
something that could add some Heavy firepower with the BTL-4A card or carrying a turret weapon.
The Fang fighters will be fast and maneuverable, But the Fang Bomber will be able to take the punishment
while dishing it out.
I love using the Ywing, so i'm looking forward to wave 9 coming out and pairing it with a couple of Fang Fighters.
Only the main body is a Ywing, the cockpit and wing area are Syck fighter parts and engines from a T70 Xwing.
I used the Syck because I liked the Cockpit area, and wing shapes.......but I disliked the model in game play.
so i didn't mind cutting this one up !
Edited by Barry HarkerCutting the Fang Wings and main wings out of plastic card, and matching everything up.......
The shape is getting there.
Lots to do though, lots of panel scribing and panel details........greebles Is what I think Macross refers them too
Sprayed in grey primer to see how the model looks.
And will help with the sanding and clean up, plus drawing and scribing in the panel lines.
The one problem I see with the model is the engine nozzles look to small, so I will be increasing the size of these.
Lots more to do on this with the fine detail.
but the main shape is there.
More photos soon.
All the Best,
Barry.
Edited by Barry HarkerI don't think you've mentioned this in the past Barry, but assuming you use these ships in actual play, do you create custom ship cards for your scratch builds/mods? Or in the case of this Fang Bomber, would you play it as a Y-wing?
Awesome work by the way. I've always enjoyed your posts.

Hello Tangerine Dream Fan !
Thanks for the comments.
Yes the model will be played as a Y-wing.
Stops any further confusion in friendly games.
Its more the look I'm going for.
And a Y-wing might work well as back up for fang fighters.
Its just the Mandolorians need a more stylish ride than a bog standard Y-wing !
All the models I build are built to an existing ship.
Makes the rules for that model fair.
Making new rules for a custom model could be perceived as favourable to me.
So I like to keep that side of things simple.
Thanks again and all the best.
Barry.
That custom Firespray if yours is pretty darn cool, but I'll be damned if it doesn't look like it's going to be a pain in the rear to use and store.

Hi Ken.
Thank you
as for the model it clips together for play, and un-clips again for storage.........
Parts are slotted for the wings and stand making it easy to use......
Sits on the stand nicely, and the stand has a beveled draft angle, so it tightens as the stand goes in the model.....
I thought about the different issues I would have with this model on the gaming table and storing it.
it works well.......but does stand high above everything else......
VALKYRIE FLYING HIGH OVER THE BATTLE FIELD.........
" Now awful it is to be without,
as blood-red rack races overhead;
is the welkin gory with warriors' blood
as we valkyries war-songs chanted "
All the best,
Barry.
Edited by Barry HarkerI m totally in love with your work !
It looks cool, rides high in order not to bump into everything and comes apart for easy storage? You've thought of everything!
Seriously, stuff like that impresses me more than just a cool outside. Anyone could potentially build something cool looking given time, but doing something like what you have done takes some engineering skills. Good job mate!

Thanks Guys.
thanks for the comments.
I have a lot of admiration for both of you and the work you do on your models.

Even unpainted, I feel this is a work of art. I can only guess planning phase along with the long hours of detail work you put into this project. Bravo! I'm tempted to ask how much a comission like this would be, but I'm afraid that the quality of work you do will be super expensive. Anyways, WOW! Awesome job
Can't wait to see what's next!
Hi Barry
Been wondering what glue you use for your plasticard work, including additions to the 'core' material ?
I've been using Tamiya's Extra Thin Cement, but sometimes it doesn't seem to hold that well on minimal-surface-area welds...do you use any industrial solvents from your commercial work ?
Cheers
Ian

Thank you Jaffa.
But yes ....its the time it takes...and the lack of time I have working on my models.
However.
I might make a silicone mold of this one.
Then cast it in Resin.
Although I won't be able to sell them.
I may just do them for the cost price of the resin...very little, and postage.
Make sure there is no profit....to annoy ffg and the mouse !
It would just be a pleasure to make an extra few.
And see how others paint them.
So that's a possibility in the future.
All the best.
Barry.

Yes I use a glue called EMA plastic Weld.
I have been using it for over 20 odd years.
Never found anything better....and its not expensive.
You can apply it with either a paint brush...but I prefer a small dropper.
Try this link.....

Thanks, Barry...will order some now & give it a try...I assume it's thin enough to use capillary action from the brush/dropper application
