Anything from Scyk...pls help me do anything from it :P

By Vitalis, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Ok i had a crazy brainstorm today trying to get something even close to competetive with scyk/scyks. Hell this 2 points title is pain in the back. So first of all:

FFG MAKE HEAVY SCYK TITLE 0pts!

Ok now back to the topic. Does any1 have any experience with any scyk lists that works at least ok? Im was thinking about crazy 36pts Serissu with PTL,EU and HLC but 36pts....that hurts :P And i wanted to use HLC to make her worthwhile (like soontig got 3 actions, poe regen let her have 4 dice).

My idea was:

Serissu /PtL,EU,title,HLC

Guri /Pred,AT,Title,Jammer

2xBinarye

But i have no idea will it work, any scyk ideas any1?

Are you looking for a list with a Scyk as the cornerstone of the list? Or just any list with a Scyk?

My Scyk success has been very limited. However, I have flown Serissu with a Tractor Beam. It keeps her cheap, keeps her contributing to the team, but she's not a priority target. If the opponent does decide to gun her down first, well, she wasn't all that expensive anyway. Put Attanni Mindlink on her and she can evade every turn while friendlies give her focus. Her high PS is perfect for the Tractor Beam because she'll fire before most of your other ships. With Adaptability, she's PS 9, if you ditch the Mindlink.

3x TPV w/mindlink, Mangler, 2 w/Stealth

N'Dru w/mindlink, Cluster missiles and chips.

My record with this squad is 1 win at store tournament, 2nd in one (albeit small) regional, and 3-3 in a large regional where two of those losses were modified losses when time was called and I probably would have won both in the following 2 rounds (not complaining, just need to fly better).

I need another Scyk and another Jumpmaster, then I'm good to go with this one. Sounds interesting. Congrats on your win rate!

I remember watching an Athena Games Stream from the UK in which Triple Torpedo Scyks took a Brobots list completely and utterly to pieces in minutes...

It is not as easy to fly as some lists. Target prioritization is critical. My last loss was directly related to me taking Dengar off the board before Bossk. Had I done it the other way around, the results might have been different.

I'm liking your list. I've been running this, but think I might give yours a try.

2x Black Sun Ace w/ Mindlink, AHM, CD, GC

2x TPV w/ Mindlink, Title, TB

I might even try swapping out N'Dru for Kaa'to, so they can all stay at PS 5.

I prefer N'Dru for three reasons. First, you will need the Cluster missiles from time to time to bust things. SD on Soontir, Torpedo scouts, or Decivader who you want off the board ASAP. At PS 7, it will strip the shields off a Ghost, Dash, falcon, etc such that the crits from the Scyks mangler cannons will yield face up damage cards.

Secondly, if the Z is your last ship (and you should plan for this occurnce), N'Dru will be a lot better to clean up than Kaa'to.

Finally, most people will focus on N'Dru, wanting to get the missiles off the board first, or trying to stay away. This sort of control will help split or divert your opponents forces giving you more opportunity to punch hard with the M3's.

As an mobster once said "forgetta bout it". It just will not work and I own 7 of them. But, I did win 2 outta 10 games with them.

I've seen this work:

Serissu (20):

  • Attanni Mindlink (1)
  • Engine Upgrade (4)
  • "Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (2)
  • Proton Rockets (3)

Total: 30 pts

Use her PS to deliver the Prockets, then let Attanni Mindlink/Engine Upgrade keep her alive as long as possible, while she covers someone's green dice.

If you want HLC on her, though, keep away from EU. It's counterproductive.

Thanks for imput guys! So i guess my "ace-scyk" approach is a no go, like i thought :) Hmm guess like i have to buy at least second scyk for them to work best :)

Without being cynical, I'd advocate waiting. There's rumors circulating that there may be a scum aces pack coming - and if it includes scyks, then you'll have two right then.

And until then, probably won't have terribly much luck with the things anyway.

The only real advantage to taking Serissu is her PS. She doesn't really have any ace abilities. I like the idea of prockets on her.

Is the scum aces pack an actual rumor or just hopeful thinking by us scummies?

Even if Scum aces exists, FFG will float around the globe three times in a sail boat before we ever get to use it.

Is this an actual rumor? As in, someone heard from someone else who heard from their mother-in-law ... kind of rumor? Or is it just wishful thinking/hoping from forum members?

Alex Davy admitted in a podcast that the Scyk needed a little love, and obliquely hinted that they had something planned. This is as explicit as he ever gets outside of an actual news announcement, and he's said as much the same codewords about Defenders (Hello, Veterans) and X-wings (Integrated Astromech - it might not have been enough, but it was in the pipeline, yes?) previously.

It could be an ace pack, it could be a Scum Epic with balance patch inside (much like the TIE Advanced came with the Raider), or it could simply be a cool new totally awesome upgrade card that is usable all over the place but just happens to be great on Scyks.

On the basis that the Syck's issues are so severe, my suspicion is the latter would be extraordinarily difficult to pull off - and either of the other two options come with an extra ship included. So yeah, I'd wait and see just how many copies of the balance patch that second Scyk comes with.

I can't find the video now, but I saw a tournament game where a fellah played 4 generics with manglers, Atini mindlinks, and maybe stealth devices. He played a slow approach, engaged and awing at range 3 and destroyed it. Then proceeded to melt the rest of the squad. He did lose 2 of them due to the fickle greens, but he certainly had the fire power with tl and focus every turn. Tis a squad I've been wanting try out myself. I'm a huge fan of Atini mindlink lol.

I did that last weekend at the Utah regionals. No video though. The crits

kept leaking through his green dice and he drew two direct hits on two ships in a row.

One of my opponents has a YV with 5 face up damage cards on it. I wish I took a picture.

I did get this one though. The Inquisitor and Yorr were gone in two or three rounds. Vader took a little longer.
