Players please note: the new tournament regulations (released July 12th) will not be implemented during this tournament.
This is to ensure fairness to all players across all four rounds of swiss play.

With the Empire left reeling from the recent Rebel victory, and the New Republic leaders trying to establish some sort of order in the galaxy, it falls to us, the admirals, to ask but one question:
... so now what do we do?
A galaxy at peace has no need of heroes and villains, of destructive fleet actions and desperate, last minute escapes. A galaxy at peace shies away from the pew-pew of turbolasers, the KRAKABOOM!!! of proton torpedoes.
A galaxy at peace is one that, quite frankly... I don't wanna live in.
... so let's blow some **** up, shall we? ![]()

Greetings, greetings, one and all, and welcome to THE NEXT ARMADA EVENT ON VASSAL!
The Rules
- This will be a four round tournament with a top cut (8 players if we have 24+ sign-ups) that will then go into elimination rounds.
- Players will create a single Rebel or Imperial fleet worth up to 400pts. Standard tournament rules will apply for fleet creation and objective selection, with some exceptions made for Wave 3/4 ships and upgrades (see below).
- In round 1, players will be able to declare grudge matches, challenging a specific player to face off against in their first match. Gurdge matches may only be declared against players who have already registered. Players who are so challenged MUST accept. Once a challenge is made, it cannot be un-made. (no take-backs!)
- Players who do not engage in a grudge match in round one will be paired randomly. Matches in rounds 2, 3 and 4 will be determined using Swiss rankings based on tournament points and MoV.
- Each round will go for two weeks. This should (hopefully) allow each pairing to arrange a time that is mutually convenient, regardless of time-zone difference. If players are unable to schedule a time to play, their match will be scored as a 5-5 draw with MoV of zero. If one player in a pairing is unable to make themselves available, has made no effort to schedule a round, or is uncontactable, their opponent will score a 7-3 8-2 victory with MoV of 129.
The Top Cut
- After four rounds of swiss play, the seven top-ranked players will automatically go into the elimination rounds.
- The eighth spot in the top cut is a Wild-Card entry, reserved for the player who scores the highest MoV in round 4 who did not make it into the top seven rankings.
(this means a player can lose their first three games and be on the very bottom of the rankings, and then score an EPIC WIN in the fourth round to earn the Wild-Card entry into the top cut)
- After the end of round four, the top eight will have three days in which to create a new fleet (should they so choose) that will be used for the remainder of the competition. As before, these fleets will be posted on a public thread.
- Top eight match-ups will be drawn at random after the deadline for fleet submission. Top four match-ups will similarly be randomized.
Fleet Building - Additional Rules
Because FFG has whet our appetites for new toys, we're opening this tournament up to include ship and upgrade cards for Wave 3 and 4 (I will keep a living list of spoiled cards in the next post). As we're experimenting with these cards for the first time, and because there exists the possibility of FFG releasing more juicy tid-bits on these waves, the tournament will allow the following:
- Before commencement of round 1, each player must submit a single Rebel or Imperial fleet of up to 400pts. These fleets can include spoiled Wave 3 and 4 ships and upgrades, otherwise we will be using standard tournament rules for fleet building.
- After round 2 finishes and before round 3 begins, each player will be allowed to submit a completely new list to be played in rounds 3 and 4. This new list may contain cards that have been spoiled since commencement of the tournament. A period of three days will be given for these lists to be submitted, and then round 3 will begin.
- After round 4, those players who make the top cut will be allowed to submit yet another new list for the elimination rounds. This new list may contain cards that have been spoiled since commencement of round 3. A period of three days will be given for these lists to be submitted, and then the elimination rounds will begin. This final list will be used for the remainder of the tournament.
Sign-Ups
If you want to get in on the fun, merely declare your interest in this thread. You will not be required to declare your fleet details until a few days prior to commencement of the tournament (I will create a new thread for this, making it easier for your opponent to find your list, and vice-versa).
ROUND ONE WILL COMMENCE: Wednesday June 22nd GMT 0001
GRUDGE MATCHES cannot be declared until Sunday June 19th GMT 0001
THERE IS NO PLAYER LIMIT ON SIGN-UPS! THE MORE THE MERRIER!!! (just be sure to register interest before Round One)
Happy hunting! ![]()
