They say that one day, people will stop the moronic wail about prequels and live in peace.
It seems the day has not yet come.

So you've actually seen the license agreement? Shouldn't you be bound by an NDA?
I'm George Lucas, I know how Star Wars works even if I don't know what exactly has Disney and FFG signed.
Clarified that for you.
A licence tells you exactly what you can use from an Intellectual Property and how you can use it. Have you heard of the new X-Men vs. Avengers movie? No? There isn't going to be one because of licencing. Same comic book universe, two different sets of characters - who each have separate IPs. Deadpool even cracked a joke about it. I think one of the reason you never saw Rey action figures was that Lucasfilm wanted too much for a main character that the toy companies thought wouldn't sell (because she was a gurl). Licencing is a byzantine affair. When Google wanted to call their Android K-update "Kit Kat," all they did was call up Nestle and a few papers were signed. No money changed hands - Nestle made a limited edition Kit Kat and Android got to call its update Kit Kat.
For all we know, FFG has the option to use prequel era material but doesn't want to pay for it. It may be that physical models cost more in licencing fees, or that Lucasfilm wants to quietly hold a pillow over the prequels until they stop thrashing.
So, if you still refute all this, I'm going to assume you have some experience in intellectual property law?
Yes! What kind of a rubbish license would expand by itself ?
The comment about holding pillow over prequels is silly. People know and love ARC because of the prequels, not because it appeared as a wreck in the background of one Rebels episode.
So I take that's a "no" then.
Edited by LampyridaeEmotive words but the argument is devoid of understanding of licensing. Unless we see the contract, we know nothing.
Umm....except the Y-wing and the Z-95?
You know the ones that did not appear at all in that form in the Clone Wars?
Edited by XerandarWhat we know:
- The Clone Wars content is already in game
- ARC-170 in a completely different form than the wreck in Rebels episode is coming to X-wing
- FFG's Rebellion uses prequel content
- there are no examples of time frame-limited Star Wars licenses that we know of, or you know about them but you don't want to share
EDIT Also, FFG's Star Wars RPG uses prequel content, on of the rulebooks has a Besalisks on the cover
Based on that you assumed FFG doesn't have license on Prequel and The Clone Wars ships.
But noone knows what is in the contract!!!
Edited by eMeMI couldn't care less why the ARC is in wave 9, and I can't see why it matters to anyone else either.
Because some people feel they can use such releases to make deductions about either FFG's plans for the game or the nature of the licensing agreement between FFG and Disney.
If you can make such deductions (however questionable the accuracy) then they feel they will be better able to speculate what is coming next.
Does that really matter? Probably not but without such speculation, most threads on sites like this would dry up.

There you go. Exactly what I'm saying. Just in case you didn't notice the big red IF that I highlighted. People were saying that the ARC in Rebels wasn't the reason that it showed up in X-Wing, I'm saying that it could be.
And now back to our regularly scheduled "XXX ship OP plz nerf FFG" discussions.

People have been speculating for some time before this so this really adds little new to that.
And as it stands there's few prequel ships that haven't been seen in another canon source... The N1 was in the end of Return of the Jedi special edition, so it's been in a canon source for a long time. It's also in one of the recent comic books.
So if the only thing it took to get a ship into X-Wing was being in a canon source other than the prequels then the N1 should've been in the game long before this or at least could be even if there was some sort of licence that stops FFG from using prequel only stuff.
I guess what I don't understand is why some people seem to be using the ARC as an accusation of some sort. Perhaps I reading into it, but it seems like people are claiming that the only reason the ARC is being included is because it was in Rebels, and this is somehow bad.

One word: Quanta?

Exactly. We do not know why other prequel stuff has not made it onto the tabletop yet. It could be licensing restrictions or it could be a free choice by FFG for <reasons>. Without that info, speculating on what else may be seen is rather moot.
To me it looks like the ARC is simply a device used to bring new-canon pilots into the game without having to rerelease all of their ships: Thane Kyrell (X-wing, Lost Stars), Nora Wexley (Y-Wing Aftermath), Shara Bey (A-Wing Shattered Empire)
Bring in a ship with limited pilots and fill those pilots with New Canon characters in order to get them into the game. I think it's a lot more mundane than simply what allows them to include it, it's simply finding the best marketable ship, and filling it with new pilots so that New Canon fans could fly their favorite pilots. I'm not in love with the ARC but dammit I'd give anything to fly Thane Kyrell as a pilot.
Now I just need my Greer Sonnel and Joph Seastriker pilot cards for the Mirrorbright. MAKE IT HAPPEN FFG!

****, I love the BECAUSE, REASONS!

You mean the same Y-wing that appeared in A New Hope, or the same Z-95 that appeared in the Thrawn series?Umm....except the Y-wing and the Z-95?
You know the ones that did not appear at all in that form in the Clone Wars?
Z-95 was in The Clone Wars. What difference does it make if it was in the Thrawn series, too?
Sure, Y-wings were in Ep4, but they were still in the Clone Wars, too. That's the point, though. The Rebels can easily pull in old junk to re-use. I'm sure there is going to be a product that will come out that will have ARC-170's used in them by the Rebels.
If you say the Y-wing isn't the same as in the Clone Wars, well, the ARC-170 isn't, either. They have an Alliance Refit, remember?
Edited by heychadwickI wasn't interested until Season two. The show has some goofy stuff, (I never liked bringing Maul back, not in Clone Wars either) and helicopter inquisitors, but then has some great stuff, like the AT-AT fight in the sandstorm, and the end of Season two was pretty **** great, IMO.
I certainly didn't give a **** about Rebels or even Episode VII stuff in X-Wing, or not. I pick up the ships for their abilities. They could be potatoes on stands (haha) for all that matters to me.
double post.

Dying to see the N1 appear in XWMG. The ETA-2 doesn't seem super likely, but if it does appear you can expect Ahsoka to be a pilot for it.
I'd bet on the V-Wing though! For Scum, anyway. It just makes
sense.

I did a similar thing, gave up on the first season after a couple of episodes. But season 2 really grabbed me, it had a lot of real good Star Wars stuff in it Sure theres riding space whales and copter sabres, but it is primarily a kids show, so I can let that stuff fly. Besides the kidy bits there were some really great moment. Vaders arrival in the last episode was amazing, the screech of his TIE as the shadow passes overhead, then arriving on scene like a boss. He pulled a nice K-turn in the first episode too
They even brought Old Republic stuff into canon with Malachor turning up as a pivotal planet. The whole Sith life force draining device and Leias Hammerhead Ships, screamed old Republic too. Loves me some KOTOR/SWTOR.
Give Rebels a chance, underneath the childish façade there are some good, proper Star Wars stories within.
Edited by AnimaticIn my experience the people who hate on Rebels are the same ones who hate on TFA and haven't shut up about how awful the prequels were for the last fifteen years but when asked why either can't give a real reason or name an issue that was also present in the OT. They are the elitests who don't think anyone outside their generation should be allowed to enjoy Star Wars and thus anything that doesn't bend over backwards to pander to them is garbage.
Rebels is solid, but rarely great. Luckily season 2 was a major improvement on season 1, with the finale being genuinely some **** good entertainment with lots of character impact.
Totally agree. Season 2 was a big improvement over Season 1. Even Ezra got less annoying!
Yes. And for anyone that hasn't watched all the way to the end of the first season, that complaint is completely valid. How one gets dismissed as less-than and childish while the other as "adult" and "more worthy" blows my mind.
Also, have you WATCHED Rebels?
Rebels is a dumb kids show for the majority of the first season. It's not anymore, but for anyone that didn't get that far because they don't LIKE dumb kids shows(which is completely valid), I forgive them for not being willing to stick with something they don't like, and not being aware that the show becomes something completely different later on.
The only thing I dislike about the Rebels ships is the paint jobs on the big ones. They LOOK cartoony, and slightly out of place with my other ships.
I love Sabine and Hera in the show. Love getting them in the game.
For whatever it's worth, I'm an old school Star Wars fan. I stood in the mega lines in '77 waiting to see Star Wars (before it was ANH). I still like Rebels.

Same with my dad. He watches each episode with me and my little brother.
Just think about that. One man is 45, the other is 23, and the last is 13.
That's three generations that enjoy the OT, PT, and ST, alongside Rebels. Life's much easier when you're not turning your nose up at things you deem a waste of time.

generation isn't the term for parent-child chain.
it's also used for describing a mass of people roughly the same age that had similar experience due to similar events and conditions.

Not to mention these two were born in different millenia!

It's also considered to be roughly 30 years. Him and his brother are only 10 years apart.
