[Scum] Rebel player wanting to try out Scum. Need help?

By Lord Sloth, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi All,

I am traditionally a Rebel player but I bought a Most Wanted and a Firespray to get upgrade cards. Now I want to give scum a try.

Aside from the Most Wanted and the Firespray, I have a Hawk, a Rebel Z95 and two Rebel Y-wings that I can use for Scum as well. (I have other expansion, I'm just listing the ones that can be used for Scum)

I'm having trouble coming up with a list though. Would appreciate some ideas/guidance on Scum lists using what I have.

Thanks in advance.

;)

You sound a lot like me. I've got the starviper for autothrusters but I'm thinking about getting 2x jump masters and the mist hunter. Figure I should be able to build some scummy lists based on those.

First of all, use Palob. He's fun and he does work! Just don't sit him right in front a a bunch of enemy ships. Do you have Twin Laser Turret? Because that will go nicely on Palob. At least, that's what I've heard people use a lot.

From there, I think I might try Boba Fett or Kath Scarlett, just to get some use out of that Firespray you bought.

It's hard to build a full squad without knowing what upgrades you have available, though.

Welcome to the brotherhood. Traditionally i was an Imp man but made the switch to scum (cause they have all the fun toys :) ).

My advice to you is to get a G-1A, one or two IGs, and at least one JM5K. This will give you some fun toys. Feedback Array is great on Zs. Plus you get access to chimps and all the fun scum crew.

But do not let that deter you from messing with what you have now. The scum Firespray is a blast. So are the HWKs (seriously almost all of my scum lists have one). And N'dru is a fun guy to kit out with missles for a devistating alpha strike.

Again welcome to the scummy side of the galaxy. Hope you enjoy your visit.

I have all upgrades available from normal starter, FU starter and at least one of every rebel expansion (except the tantive) in addition to most wanted and a firespray. So yes i do have twin laser turrets (x2)

Following this with interest as although I'm looking to make the jump from Imp to Scum (as a second fun faction) all info is valuable.

Hope you don't mind this post with no useful info at all OP!

Don't mind at all :)

Thanks for the input so far. I've built something so far and would like to know what ppl think of it?

Boba Fett (47)
- Veteran Instincts
- Heavy Laser Cannon
N’Dru Suhlak (19)
- Lone Wolf
Palob Godalhi (33)
- Veteran Instincts
- Twin Laser Turret
- Recon Specialist
- Moldy Crow

That's a decent list. I have a few suggestions. First, I think Palob is loaded too full. With Recon Specialist and his ability to steal focus tokens, I might consider deopping the title, but it's really your call. I can see how it could be useful to store them up for Twin Laser Turret. If you did drop Moldy Crow, you might add a "Hot Shot" Blaster to discourage enwmy ships from getting into range 1. But then again, that's still proba ly too many points invested in that ship.

N'Dru with Lone Wolf has a lot of promise for such a cheap ship. Unfortunately, I have a really hard time keeping him away from my forces, so the ability usually doesn't work for me, but it is definitely worth a try.

For Fett, I think you could benefit a lot more from Engine Upgrade than you can from Heavy Laser Cannon. I think I might drop him down to Kath and give her an Ion Cannon and Engine Upgrade. If you drop the title from the HWK, you can also put K4 Security Droid on Kath. Now Kath can Ionize an enwmy ship and do a turn + boost to get that ship in her rear arc for a powerful attack. Engine Upgrade and Veteran Instincts let her dodge a lot of arcs at Pilot Skill 9.

Welcome to the crew, mate.

Based on your collection (all Rebel, Most Wanted, Firespray), here's my take:

Kavil (24):

  • Deadeye (1)
  • Plasma Torpedoes (3)
  • Extra Munitions (2)
  • Blaster Turret (4)
  • R4 Agromech (2)

Total: 36 pts

Drea Renthal (22):

  • Proton Torpedoes (4)
  • Bomb Loadout (0)
  • Ion Cannon Turret (5)
  • R4-B11 (3)
  • Seismic Charges (2)

Total: 36 pts

Palob Godalhi (20):

  • Twin Laser Turret (6)
  • Outlaw Tech (2)

Total: 28 pts

Aside from very small tweaks (Guidance Chips on both Ys and Crackshot/Greedo on Palob), this is the list I'm rocking for wave 8.

Very powerful list, simple to fly and easy to customize. Also, it doesn't look like much until it's actually on the table, so it's nice for a surprise factor.

Each ship has its job and none is more important than the other (although Drea is significantly less powerful against large ships), so target priority isn't a given.

If you wanna use that Firespray, it should either be Boba or Kath and it must have Engine Upgrade. Right now, I'd be more inclined to Boba:

Boba Fett (39):

  • Veteran Instincts (1)
  • Engine Upgrade (4)
  • Gunner (5)

Total: 49 pts

Kavil (24):

  • Push The Limit (3)
  • Twin Laser Turret (6)
  • Engine Upgrade (4)
  • Unhinged Astromech (1)

Total: 38 pts

Binayre Pirate (12):

Total: 12 pts

This Boba gets the job done like nobody's business. High PS, boost, re-rolls and and second chances. 'nuff said.

Kavil is a lot riskier here, but there's something curious about a Y flying like an ace. First one is undoubtly more powerful, though.

Z just there as filler and blocker. 1-pt bid, everybody's happy.
