...meta?
Looks like the Wookie got into the industrial solvent again.
It's only meta if PGS is raging about it
Also, Shadow Caster is a title. You can't have four of them. The original poster is obviously a cheater.

Fly Arvel with A-Wing Test Pilot and 2 EPT's. No one will notice, and if you get called out on it say that it was a mistake.
I do like the idea of moving past a 3 ship meta. That gets a bit old.

Last year it was a two-ship meta, now it's three ship and we're moving to four. How about five? Do I hear five? Five ship meta? Going once... Going twice...

approx 33% better than the 2 ship meta, though
honestly, not super thrilled about Shadowcaster (the title) but the ship is promising. The ps 7 in particular has just about the coolest **** ability ever printed
at the start of the combat phase, you may choose a ship at range 1, if it is in your primary and mobile firing arcs, assign 1 tractor beam token to it
(first tractor beam token assigned triggers the displacement effect)
that's just cool. You don't need to attack the target, you don't need to be able to attack the target (b2b, sitting on a rock; don't matter!); you don't even need to target an enemy! Your ps 1 pirate can arc-dodge soontir by moving before he shoots if you wanted
at the very VERY least, it's a new bump meta. any poor ace that gets bumped in your front arc is basically ****** after you roll him out of b2b and drop his agility
assuming it's got the dial for ptl (please be real, green 3 bank) then you can rock PTL, k4/dengar, and EU for a very promising competitive contender
not sure how that gets us four ships, though. Maybe he was talking about the protectorate?

Really?!? The one thing everyone says about the Tractor Beam is that it stinks to have to give up your attack to use it. With the title, you just leave the mobile arc in your front and fire away. If you manage to hit someone, you do the damage, but you also get to use the Tractor Beam on them if they are in R1-2. That means -1 Agility and you can move them if small based. Also, that -1 Agility doesn't go away at the end of the round. Why is that a bad thing?
Of course, using Ketsu, you can give them a TL token if you catch them in R1 in front. Let's even say you bump, but you can then BR them away so that you can shoot in your turn. Maybe even set it up so that they can't fire at you with the BR? You fire at them at R1 and they have -1 Agility. If you hit, you put another token on them (due to title) and they get another -1. So, anyone else who shoots at them that turn does so and they are -2 Agility.
title's 3 points, though
that's PTL/k4/dengar etc; not easy to squeeze in a list
might see use on less expensive pilots, but for Ketsu I'd rather just crutch on the ability. He's going to be pricey as is with the "default" ptl/k4-dengar/eu loadout (48) without getting into illicit upgrades (debris? im a sucker for feedback)
will depend largely on the meta, though. V large ships and aces, the impact/chance of actually hitting are too low for me to invest in. V lower agility small ships, though, the displacement of t-beam tokens is a huge gain

Ketsu is female, fyi. Fun fact is the first mate from the tv show "Firefly" does her voice.
Yes, it will depend on the meta, but it's also a good way for one of the other pilots to get use out of the Tractor Beam without sacrificing an action for it. I really have to stress, though...it's not just a regular TB. It's one where the -1 Agility stays on the target. That's going to be huge.
It could make Gunner make a come back, as well. If you are getting to roll again and also make sure they get a TB hit....it's worth it to me! I can see someone like Sabine using Glitterstim for a crucial round with Gunner.
you're probably paying more points to make the TB token stick beyond the end phase, because nothing on the title lets it stick
might be ketsu (crew), herself. "Might" here meaning almost certainly, as they've prevented similar synergy between Dengar and Dengar and she's the only card in there that'd have anything to do with t-beams given her pilot ability and the word "phase" being in the text

3 ships are 50% better than two.
Two ships are 66.67% as effective as three.
/mindblown/

Wait, so is there no way to get rid of those tractor beam tokens as the defender?

they go away in the end phase as normal
the article promises a way to keep the tokens around past the end phase
that way is neither ketsu (pilot) nor shadowcaster, as they say nothing about voiding normal t-beam rules
ketsu (crew), however, might given there's a bit in the text that mentions "phase" (say, end phase) and her pilot version works with t-beam tokens so there's a slight precedent there.
Mainly, though, nothing else in the box does anything with t-beam. There's one mod that seems dedicated to the mobile firing arc (judging by the picture and "gyro...tar..."), the debris field launcher (keyword drop ), and 3 new crew cards one of which is IG (promised to give the caster an ig's ability, according to the article) one of which is latz (says something about defending and stress)
Blacksun slicers need an action , which doesn't fit the timing of t-beam (slapped on during combat and falls off during end phase; after actions)
so, process of elimination there
Edited by ficklegreendiceWe are told that the ship introduces that the TB tokens don't go away at the end of the phase. We don't know if it's native to all, a crew, or whatever.

Could always be Asajj, too (the so-far unspoiled named pilot).
Gut feeling is that it's probably crew-Ketsu, though, yeah...but it might be the other pilot.
Sorry about the post yesterday. I sprayed too much hairspray. Got a wee bit in my nose. But my coat looked AMAZING!

It absolutely will be an upgrade or pilot that does it. We already have the rules for tractor beam tokens. The rules for tractor tokens states they go away in the end phase. The only way to stop them from going away will be a card that says they stick around.
Doubt it'd be a pilot because then the title becomes auto include for the ability to do anything
Even in the case where it works on any tbeams it's an awfully limited ability to have
Whereas a crew could go on YVs sprays and the misthunter all with tbeams at the ready OR the shadow caster
