Just some speculation towards a possible rebel arc dodger

By OmAlexcini, in X-Wing

Just some thoughts I've had after seeing the Scum Faction is getting an Arc Dodger in the form of the Protectorate Starfighter. I'm thinking that the rebels will get there arc dodger in the form if an Eta 2 Interceptor. Unless the card that comes with the ARC-170 gives barrel roll to small ships then you can just throw them on a group of A-Wings. But after seeing the ARC its definitely a possibility, maybe slim but its for sure not out of the question.

What are your guys thoughts?

Isn't the A-Wing already a Rebel arc-dodger?

FFG can't dilute faction identity too much.

Jake Farrell.

jake farrel's an arc-dodger

real "rebel arc-dodging", however, involves intentionally slamming your ship into the enemy in order to avoid shots by being b2b

bb-8 ptl does this beautifully

k-wings do it literally

certain ships with sensors (mainly corran) can also pull it off

Yeah, and after that we'll get shield regen for imps

Yeah, and after that we'll get shield regen for imps

TIE Fighter, Interceptor, Bomber: "Look at all these shields we can regen!"

You already have instant shield regen with palp giving you an 100% evade.

Comm relay is imperial ships regen

A-wings were the main thing i thought of for the barrel-roll mod. Can technically do it already but it takes one of my precious EPT slots and if i do it with PTL i get doublestressed, no thanks.

Right now when i run them i put autothrusters, but thats literally because its cheap, works wonders for squishy ships, and i dont see another option worth the points. I would swap that for barrelroll in a heartbeat, since i very VERY often find myself facing a rock or ship just sliiiiightly in a bad way so i cant dodge it without a very, very predictable move.

That, or im just barely not getting a shot. Way too often the barrelroll on my intercepters or tie adv is the reason i sneak that side-shot in because my opponent flew a little faster than i thought.

T-70 is arguably a pretty good one with Boost and TR as options. They're not a pinnacle example, but the toughness and versitility they have makes them sexy anyway.

i really like the flavor too, it gives imps juke, lets you move better and sets up on turn 1 probably, but is limited to 1 at a time vs the rebels who can take sub optimal moves to stack it up when wounded.

its the same basic effect but done in different ways to suit the faction

I'm fine with Jake Farrell being the only "real" Rebel arc-dodger, because he's **** fun to use and I like when the factions have distinct strengths.

I've always wanted to see the A-9 Vigilance Interceptor from Dark Empire as a rebel arc dodger. Not to mention the Incom l-7 and the Cloakshape fighter. Slave II would cool too...

With the new ARC-170 pilots being "left overs" and all unique I can totally see the same thing happen with ETA-2s. The really cool thing is that the ETA-2 would be Rebel/Imperial. I still havnt found anyone locally to paint mine from Star Wars Spaceship battles (or whatever it was called) and one from Shapeways as Vader's ride. Black, white, and red awesomeness.

Love flying Jake and will look into Tycho with Barrel Roll... But the sacrifices might be too much.

I always thought A-Wings should have barrel roll.... Maybe a new title that gives it for free.

I am going to say something really bad... For rebel arc dodgers the only one I can think of would be the Clone Wars Jedi ships... And we know how bad that would be to introduce Clone Wars ships...( cough ARC-170 cough)

Rebels have always had a lot going for them, do they need a better arc dodger than Jake and Dash? They generally have the most durable ships in the game as well and their astromechs have a wide range of dominating effects.

Each faction should feel different to the other

They already have the A-wing. Soon to have the T-70 too, if the price of Vector Thrusters is sensible.

Jake Farrel, Bat-Poe, Superdash want a word with you on arcdodge

Rebels have quite a few. E-wings and A-wing can do a good job at dodging arcs, Also super Dash acts more like an arc dodger than a PWT, heck arc dodgers can easily kill superdash getting into that doughnut hole.

The faction that is lacking in the arc dodgers is well, it was S&V. IG-2000 Agressors were the best thing to an arc dodger Scum had. Also the Jumpmaster 5k is decent at arc dodging but like Super Dash and IG-88 it is hard to dodge firing arcs with a large based ship. Once Wave 9 comes out they will finally have an arc dodger in their own right.

Yes i flew 2 Jumpmaster 5000's with Engine Upgrade and PTL and it was very fun.

The only down side i found with the Jumpmasters and YT-2400's is the 2 attack and 2 agility. Attack wise both can be fixed but at a hefty cost, and if your running multiples only one can be fixed and that one ship will be the main target for your opponent.

With Jake Ferrall his arc dodging isn't as potent and is very 'situational'

I'm just excited at the Idea of the ETA-2's being an official 'Arc Dodger'. Just the thought of the Predecessor of the Tie line of fighters going against Soontir Fel sounds pretty amazing
