Wave 9 Dial discussion and predictions

By Kdubb, in X-Wing

Outside of the stats and upgrades, the most important part of a ship is its dial. What do you think the dials for the Wave 9 ships will look like?

My thought process behind this dial is that the ARC is to the B-wing (dial-wise) what the Z-95 is to the X-wing. Similar dials accept the greens are the 2 banks and not the 1s, and different speed k-turns.

Special Forces Tie

Think the Special Forces Tie will be similar to the FO, but with a bit slower feel to it. With a lower agility value, it seems likely it will be a bit slower dial-wise as well.

I think the Protectorate will have a really unique dial. Lots of green with a few red "turn around" options. Also think this could be the first ships to not feature a 1 speed maneuver which would make for some interesting piloting.

Honestly, I have no clue what this dial will look like. It has a green 3 bank (if we are to believe the preview article, which has been wrong before), which is a pretty fantastic maneuver. Maybe we will see something curious like a green 3 bank but with a white 3 straight? Would it make sense in universe? No, not really, but, I mean, there are only so many ways you can make these dials, so I'm sure it will happen at some point. Why not now?

Having no 1-speed maneuvers on the Protectorate Starfighter is going to make the whole range-1 deal a lot trickier, I think.

Ya you're probably right. Having no speed 1 would probably be pretty crippling in a lot of cases. I can see a ship one day having no speed 1 maneuvers, but it's probably not the Fang fighter now that I take a second to think about it. I think a future ship with white k, sloop or talon roll options might be the first to have something like that.

i'd be shocked if the Protectorate doesnt have 1hards. I dont think theres a single ship that doesnt have at LEAST 1hards. If the TIE Interceptor and Fighters (which are considered one of the fastest fighters) have 1hards that thing most likely will.

Though i think youre spot on with the tie/sf. Its more than likely going to be the same dial as the tie/fo but colors changed to reflect its lack of mobility (i.e. agility). Though i wouldnt be surprised if it has the ... whatever the hell the other turn is that isnt the sloop is called instead of a sloop, both to mix the dials a bit and it would enable it to position itself right between two ships perfectly, even if it does stress him out.

It flies well at slower speeds, but struggles at higher speeds, featuring six green maneuvers at speeds "1" and "2," even while four of its seven higher-speed maneuvers are red.

From the announcement article on the ARC. Assuming this is accurate then it has two more green maneuvers (presumably the 1 banks) and two more faster ones (three of seven aren't red) this would lead to something like

I totally agree. That would be a cool ship to see in the future.

I have a feeling the arc will have a hard 1 white and the k will be a 4k

My predictions... (some are serious, some less so...)

Because as we all know, large ships get better dials than small ships...
