Saber Swarm + Saber Throw

By HappyDaze, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Is there any reason that the combination in the title won't work?

Not in the RAW. Swarm is a maneuver and throw is an action. You could conceivably do both and another maneuver if you were willing to take the strain.

And it would "look" wicked cool in action too as this is ataru combined with sabers swarm, throw and usually telekine as well, so you throw, catch, throw again or instead manipulate the saber for multiple hits with the force. It is a sweet move.

Thanks to this thread, I have discovered a really neat idea for my characters evolution. I'm really terrified now. XD

I believe this topic popped up a few months ago in another thread, and indeed by RAW you can do this. It sounds like it could be pretty cinematic.

I personally enjoy the rapid throw-return, throw-return visual, myself. That poor sap never knew what hit him...

None whatsoever that this wouldn't work, since nothing in the wording of either talent excludes the other. Granted, you're looked into using Agility for the Saber Throw if you want the combo to work, but that's generally not going to be an issue for an Ataru Striker... unless they've suffered a critical injury result that impacts/impairs any Agility-based checks.

I actually seem to recall something like this showed up in either KotOR or TOR, where a saber throw ability would zigzag and hit a couple of times.

Either that, or I'm thinking of Kingdom Hearts. Either way, Disney has hands in both, so it might as well be acceptable.

Linked 3 from a 400ish XP Ataru Hermit with FR 3... Hawk Bat Swoop and Saber Throw just got scary. Even Linked 2 Ataru Executioner would be frightening with all those ways to add Advantage.

Executioner would only get linked 1 due to committing the die to "Marked for Death"

Thinking about it, I don't think we saw a move like this in canon, but the jedi knight games offered you the option to use saber throw than force jump over the poor sob, catch your own saber which just pierced your original target mid air and throw it right again into either another enemy or for a second pass against your original target.

Was rad as hell to pull the timing off, and reminds me so much of this saber throw + saber swarm mechanic. Just use some acrobat moves and the force to keep catching your own saber while decimating a whole minion group in one go or try to annihilate that inquisitor who tries to follow your ataru moves.
