Close-Ups of Wave 9 from Yavin

By slowreflex, in X-Wing

I really don't like the huge guns on the wingtips of the Arc-170. That's like how a 6 year old would draw a gun on an airplane.

I might take those off and put them under fuselage for better placement. They are just too badly placed to be realistic.

gimbals yo

Or maybe they're cannons in the same way the things on the bottom of the Finalizer that Finn and Poe took out (and that took out Poe and Finn) were cannons.

That's a point actually, the line between cannon and missile seems to have blurred in TFA (same thing happened with the SKB superlaser). Wonder if we'll see new upgrades to reflect that...

Surely any comics, novels, games, whatever since Disney took over are canon?

"Unless Otherwise Stated"

Anyone else think the arc is oddly too wide and not long enough?

I'm happy with the fuselage, but heartily agree that the span is excessive - as with my K-wing, in the absence of a 'medium' base, alterations must be made.

Yeah, I fancy doing the same... may need to photo-shop a mock-up to evaluate.

Uh, missile cannons are a real thing. There is nothing inherent to a cannon that requires it to fire dumb projectiles.

"Normal" cannons or mass drivers, yeah, but Star Wars energy weapons might be... suboptimal for launching missiles :P

I'm a little late to the party as I've been gone a few days, but anyone notice the ARC has no generic pilots?

I still utterly loathe everything about the design, shape, and concept of the Arc. I have seen some godawful looking machines in my time, but nothing so offensively abhorrent as that abomination.

Go cry in a corner, nobody cares.
Bit harsh? It's not like I was attacking the designer. The molding required to make that piece is impressive, and the paintjob is top notch; I'm just throwing out an opinion that it looks like it was designed (not by FFG, obviously) by a committee of kids (more wings! Bigger guns! More windows!). Given aesthetics is a key selling point of the game for many, I'd wager people do care, whether positively or negatively.Won't stop me from picking one up though. Looks aside, the ship itself is solid.
Sorry it gets really annoying when people say all this bad stuff about the ARC but choose to ignore how retarded the X-wing is as well.

ONLY children and ignorant adults say "retarded" anymore.

Are you saying that the Xwing's design is suffering from mental disabilites?

And I was told that it's quite a bad thing to say in Germany. Fun Fact: Black Eyed Peas song "Let's get it Started in Here" was originally called "Let's get Retarded in Here", but they changed it for obvious reasons. I know... fascinating...

Seriously, I've put this on the list of "Words Not To Be Abused" in my classroom. Considering my goal of my profession is to take children and turn them into NOT ignorant adults I feel justified in having such a list.

Are you saying that the Xwing's design is suffering from mental disabilites?

I suppose it suffers from mental inabilities in the most literal sense, given that a design certainly does not cogito ergo sum.

On topic I'm glad they did include the turret on the sf; I was surprised it was not there in the preview but they were able to include it; what you see is what you get with x wing!

Okay my First Order Brothers... just how happy does this make you?

:D :)

Interested in seeing its dial more than anything; the article says it's completely different dial from the FO, so I'm thinking it'll have a weird dial like the Defender or even one that's superficially close to the T-70?

I'm going to throw this one into the internet void:

I don't like the Rebels ships.

I like them plenty in CGI form, but in model form the cartoony looking Ghost and Shadowcaster do not, in my opinion, fit in with the games "War-battered starships" Aesthetic.

Don't get me wrong, I don't begrudge them being in the game, or anyone who likes them - but I feel the need to get my dislike for the Shadowcaster (and the Ghost) out there.

The real pity is that the FFG team isn't allowed to greebly them up to match the 'real ship' aesthetic for fear of diluting the cartoons design.

The CGI designs are stylised. The movie-based ships are not.

Exactly this. I don't watch Rebels, but I love the hell out of the Ghost's infinite possibilities, and as a primarily scum player the Fang and Shadow Caster look like fantastic additions. It's just a shame that the ships are smoothed into some sort of video game or Marvel CG Aircraft Of The Movie clean silliness.

This may be the push I need to get hacking away at these minis and bust out the pencil weathering.

You know, weathering might be all they need, come to think of it.

Yeah some brown and black washes drawn on would be great. Then some splotchy dry-brush and these babies would be awesome the ARC is already perfect.

Yeah, I was wondering if it would be properly visible when I saw the standard bottom attachment for the stand. Glad it is.

Blast it! I thought I was going to be the first to publicly bask in the glorious radiance of the TIE/sf, but you beat me to it!

Seriously, though, as much as I love the Scum faction, nothing is catching my aesthetic eye as much as this little beauty. Yes, it's just another TIE. Yes, it looks very similar to the TIE/fo. But the differences just please me so much! It's gonna be a great model.

Downside, may mess with getting it in the Gozanti.

That ARC-170 is a pretty sight. It's going to be tough waiting for it to go on sale.

I've never been super fond of the ARC - and the fact that LFL seemed determined to sell them like the Second Coming of the X-Wing didn't help - but since I like 95% of the prequel ships better than 95% of the original ships, I'll probably pick one up. Maybe have it be escorted by a couple of T-70s.
