Hi, is it worth playing Escape from Goldur from the core set solo, even if you know you can't win? Thanks.
Escape solo
Yup. Its a good experience and it is possible to beat it with 1 core set, just hard and low percentage. If you don't like it kicking your @$$, download the easy mode rules and play it that way. Its not a competitive game, so the point is to have fun.

I played and enjoyed this scenario solo with a few tweaks:
-Choose a random hero from the box (not one of yours) to be the prisoner
-During setup, only choose 1 objective and attach it to 1 encounter card
-Set the other 2 objectives aside; attach them to the next 2 cards revealed during staging
I highly recommend you try this out, it makes the game much more balanced and fun (and playable) in solo.

Oh gosh, the other day I got a super lucky start and almost completed this quest pure solo, and when I finally saved the prisoner I immediately lost a different hero to the hornet that deals 5 damage when it engages you and I lost it
I would say it is definitely good to play this, and any other quest, even if you will lose, because that is how you learn.
I also believe this is not a game to play "no spoilers" with. Each quest can be so different that there is no "general purpose" deck. When I play I thoroughly evaluate the quest and it's major challenges, picking what I can do to counter them, and then play it through. This will do more for your ability to deck build as you're able to assess the situations without thinking back to when you were playing... When you lose to something, evaluate what you could have done to win and try the same quest again. If you feel the quests are too easy, then you can put in limits similar to the Campaign rules where you pick your heroes and complete all of the quests with that hero set, or some like to limit by availability, playing with only cards that were available at the quest release.
