Is FFG nerfing again?!?

I made that dinner personally so I am a damngood cook. I normally braze (Blacken) the outer meat to seer in the spices, but it is medium-well inside; nice and soft and juicy too.

Hows-Zat?

I mean, it sounds fine if you're an early hominid just figuring out this "fire" thing for the first time. Otherwise it's overcooked by about 10 degrees.

Dammit man... keep your math out-my-yummies!

We southern boys like grilling and such.

:P

Hah. High school in Florida, college in South Carolina, family holidays in Texas and Georgia.

Steaks should never be frozen. They should be rubbed with salt and pepper, and maybe some garlic powder, cumin, and/or chili powder if you're feeling frisky. Then they go on a very hot grill for about 4 minutes on one side and 3 on the other. Then rest and serve.

Anything else is not only a culinary offense but suspiciously un-American.

Yes, People seem obsessed with making the T-65 more powerful. Why? It wasn't that great in the trilogies anyway.

Old folks trying to hold on to their long gone youth... The T-70 is absolutely badass... and they don't like it, and try to act like it is not even in the game. What they miss is that TFA update IS The Game... now.

:)

Hey, Joe. You all better leave us ole folk alone. I win the majority of my games vs you youngins. :D

I ain't a kid... I know I look pretty good still but i am a veteran too Brah.

Great discussion, you guys are a fun read; I always learn a lot and get some great laughs too....I think it's healthy for a game/community to get excited about stuff, get annoyed by stuff, love things and hate things. I have no hates in this release info, just no love. In other words, I just (in my novice-ness) saw this wave a bit reactionary and underwhelming. I dig the rear-arc TIE, I guess I might get one even though I'm admittedly an Empire honk; oddly enough, the highly mobile Scum ship seems a better and cooler design, but the other two, um, meh.....This release...just nothing fun; nothing exiting....again, personally.

I like purchasing the tenderloin and cutting to 1 1/2" thickness; salt/pepper on the bottom, crushed garlic, Italian seasoning and butter on the top, place in tin boats and broil on high for 6 mins. top and 4 after a flip; let rest for 5....medium rare goodness, no knife needed; perfection!

Right....I agree with VanorDM. They are a bit reactionary to the meta to some degree. They want to shape the game play if they feel it's gone a certain way. So....they introduced Auto Thrusters to bring back arc dodgers when Primary Weapon Turrets became too powerful. That wasn't a "nerf" to turrets, but a boost to arc dodgers.

The few nerfs that have happened have all been in FAQ's. That's where they take an existing rule and change it. That's the nerf.

I like this wave as it looks like it's trying to steer the game back to jousting ships at each other and getting extra arcs so that Arc Dodgers aren't as powerful as they are now. I'd be happy to see tournaments that aren't 66% Imp/Palp Aces of one kind or another.

Be a better player! You don't like what you are seeing then build a list to crush it. Once that happens people will change what they bring. How hard can it be, you already know what they are going to bring

OR they could just change the meta to a better one so that you can run what you want instead of being forced to run hard counters in order to not lose all of the time.

Palp Aces is hard to deal with without a squad counter built to it, it's not just playing better.

So yes, I could slap 2 Ghosts, a Y-Wing, and 3 Autoblaster turrets down but I don't feel like flying that all the time.

Another problem is that you build a counter aces squad, and you get punished by Dash Chost or U-Boats. So if you tool your squad too heavily for the Palp Aces matchup you can get screwed by matchups.

It's almost like no list doesn't have weaknesses. Everything has something that can devestate it. If you can hard counter one build it seems reasonable another build would be able to punish you. Otherwise YOUR build would be utterly broken.

If Palpatine triggers once to save Soontir from damage, he's more than made up his cost. If you consider the shuttle a waste of points (which it isn't), then Palpatine only has to trigger 3 times to more than make up his points.

Palpatine triggers way more than 3 times. If you don't need him for defense then you can start using him offensively.

The shuttle's a waste of points when I fly it.

If Palpatine triggers once to save Soontir from damage, he's more than made up his cost.

According to?

Palpatine costs two crew slots and eight points. Shield Upgrade costs four and a mod slot.

Even if you ignore the relative equipping requirements I'd say Palpatine needs soak two or three hits to pay himself back.

I don't think you can point to any one element of a Sand List and say that's the problem. It's the perfect storm of all of it.

I knew someone with 131 posts would say something like this. The problem is that if I build a well-rounded squad, the Palp Aces player has the advantage because his list is broken.

If Palpatine triggers once to save Soontir from damage, he's more than made up his cost. If you consider the shuttle a waste of points (which it isn't), then Palpatine only has to trigger 3 times to more than make up his points.

Ok so fair enough, Palp is very strong. Still the shuttle needs its aces, and honestly the shuttle itself can be laid low by strong focus fire. I'm not saying Palp's Aces isn't really strong it clearly is. I think what you need is a counter that isn't a hard counter. If you could outfly Fel or devestate the shuttle, I think the list like any 3 ship list, would not be very happy. Then you would still have some ways to fight Corran and Dash. One way or another, meta is meta, my opinion is it rarely makes more than a few ships truly useless, it's just that the meta is always very effecient.

New releases allow for course correction.

Sometimes that entails correcting course set by the last new release.

It is easy to criticize, but I think FFG are doing a good job with attending to issues of balance (although I feel Palp needs more counters so he is not so much of a go-to tournament card). The fact the SW has prepainted figures means that it draws many folks with less miniature gaming history. As a person that has been in this hobby for 20+ years, I appreciate FFG for the power creeping missteps that they have NOT made.

More importantly, new releases allow for innovation and evolution. The point of a collectible game is that IT DOES CHANGE. If you don't like it, you might try chess. The models haven't changed in 1,000+ years.

i think his math there is 4 points for the stealth device, 4 points for the effective shield upgrade (blocking 1 dmg)

Or you just divide his points up; every time palp blocks a damage he's preserving 1/3 of soontir's cost. Yeah, it pays for itself pretty quickly.
