Is FFG nerfing again?!?

By clanofwolves, in X-Wing

Hey, uh... wasn't it like last week we were all bitching about how it's all Rebels? Now we get some of the other factions out in force and it's "Oh, damned auto-win Aces"...

Like, come on guys.

no last week was "******* scum toilet seat list" it was the week before that everyone hated rebels

theres a small really vocal group of imperial players who are Always Mad tho and i dont understand it at all

they're mad because palp wasn't out in time for worlds, letting Heaver stroll on through with rebels yet again :P

theres a small really vocal group of imperial players who are Always Mad tho and i dont understand it at all

I think there was a fairly large surge in the popularity of the game around the time Imperials were fairly bad. BBBBZ or Fat Han were simply demolishing everything. Scum was a new thing and seemed to be getting all the attention while the Imperials languished. A lot of people came into and formed their initial opinion of the game and the factions around that time. They simply haven't moved on from that point despite all the changes to the game.

Then the Phantom came along... OK fine the Phantom is good but the rest of Imperials still suck

How about how autothrusters revitalized the interceptor especially Soontir? Well... besides the Phantom and Sootir what good are Imperials?

Oh, that Palp guys is pretty good I hear. Also Vader got a pretty big bump there... Yes, Palps and Co are pretty nice, but that's not the point

Also the Inquisitor is just brutal for the points and Omega Leader that's a nice skill there and man those new defender titles coming out... Right, the Phantom and Soontir and Palp and Vader and the Inquisitor and Omega Leader those new defender titles are all pretty nice but besides that what have the Romans FFG ever done for us?

I applaud your reference, sir.

Yes, People seem obsessed with making the T-65 more powerful. Why? It wasn't that great in the trilogies anyway.

Old folks trying to hold on to their long gone youth... The T-70 is absolutely badass... and they don't like it, and try to act like it is not even in the game. What they miss is that TFA update IS The Game... now.

:)

Sorry, two weeks ago...

I wonder what it will be next week?

ZOMGTIESHUTTLEISUNDERCOSTEDPLZNERF!

Oh, but wait...

IMP VETS WON"T ******* BE HERE NEXT WEEK!

I would like to point out that FFG is developing several waves in advanced. So it's not like this is a knee jerk reaction to the current meta. It's almost like they have play testers that they pick from some of the top players in the game to test out all of this stuff like a year in advanced, and FFG steers the meta in the way they want it to go!

Crikey, you make it sound like they put some thought into it

I made that dinner personally so I am a damngood cook. I normally braze (Blacken) the outer meat to seer in the spices, but it is medium-well inside; nice and soft and juicy too.

Hows-Zat?

Per Alex Davey two months ago "Wave 10 is done. We are starting on the development of wave 11"

While I am sure it is impossible to fully anticipate how things will be used by the masses, to imply that they somehow tried to fix U boats in the development of Wave 9 does not fit that timeframe.

I would further submit that the lead time in development is definitely upwards of a year. Look at you new Core Set 2-turn template...the one with the 2-T-roll on it. Seems to me that it looks like the new Scum fighter, which we will not see intil this fall, will be the first with that move, but the Core set has been out for 9 months.

Also it it just me, or does it seem like some people go looking for an excuse to criticize what FFG does?

I can get it if someone is really into their hobby and some change comes along. They see something as a change in a way they don't like. If you spend hundreds of dollars and lots of hours into something, and it changes to something you don't like, it can upset you. So, I do get some of the attitude. I don't endorse it, but I understand it.

Also, some people can just be half empty people. I'm not saying OP or anyone is! I just saying they are out there.

it could be worse...it could be a $90 codex every year that completely changes the game and makes you have to buy ANOTHER $40 codex so you can find out how your faction has been changed.

or

A new series of cards every 6 months that makes it so a previous series of cards cannot be used in tournament play.

Is that what you want?! Because we can do that.

NOPE... NOPE... NOPE... I got out of that GW CRAP back in 2000... made a few grand selling everything on eBay, and have stayed the hel-out too.

I mean, it sounds fine if you're an early hominid just figuring out this "fire" thing for the first time. Otherwise it's overcooked by about 10 degrees.

Yeah Brah that was it.

Right....I agree with VanorDM. They are a bit reactionary to the meta to some degree. They want to shape the game play if they feel it's gone a certain way. So....they introduced Auto Thrusters to bring back arc dodgers when Primary Weapon Turrets became too powerful. That wasn't a "nerf" to turrets, but a boost to arc dodgers.

The few nerfs that have happened have all been in FAQ's. That's where they take an existing rule and change it. That's the nerf.

I like this wave as it looks like it's trying to steer the game back to jousting ships at each other and getting extra arcs so that Arc Dodgers aren't as powerful as they are now. I'd be happy to see tournaments that aren't 66% Imp/Palp Aces of one kind or another.
