It's been a while since I've flown scum. Last time I did well with two unhinged Ys and Talonbane. Now I'm going to give them another try after learning more about the game.

The idea here is that everyone is to hit harder than expected. I'm debating swapping the predator/opportunist cards as I feel there is a greater chance that by the time my scyk fires the targets tokens will have been used up. Zuck helps keep Talonbane alive enough to do his thing while also throwing some dice himself.

Opinions?

I absolutely adore the M3A, but my opinion is that the M3A heavys are a waste of points. The advantage that you can keep them at range 3 and they still hit harder than most range one ships. Downside, to keep them alive you usually need to take an evade. That weakens their offensive potential, though predator should help offset that some. Perhaps with an experimental interface, you could focus and evade and have predator rerolls. That would be a 32 point M3A (which you're already at). It could work, but that's a lot of points for a 3 HP ship.

I see a lot of people suggesting engine upgrade on Talonbane, which I've used myself. That guarantees he gets to range one. I could see the benefits of the particle accelerator. Could give him multiple actions. I don't know if opportunist is best in Talonbane. He's going to be shooting near the top of the list. That means most will not have had the opportunity to spend their focus token. I've always felt that opportunist without Palob to guarantee the target doesn't have a focus, then it's a bit more situational. 4 pts, in my opinion, is a bit pricey for a situational ept. Predator might be another good idea here. Six dice would be incredible, but it'd be hard to pull that off often enough to make it count. Whereas predator should go off most every shooting turn.

Other than knowing you can get five attack dice with Ruckus, I have no experience with him or the mist hunter.

I totally agree with the opportunist vs predator on TC. I'd swap opportunist to the M3A I think. Should be more effective. The idea of the SPA on TC is that it can help keep him alive with bodyguard from Zuck.

Or I could try this.

G-1A Starfighter: · Zuckuss (28)

· Bodyguard (2)

· Mist Hunter (0)

Tractor Beam (1)

Kihraxz Fighter: · Talonbane Cobra (28)

Predator (3)

Stygium Particle Accelerator (2)

· Cloaking Device (2)

Stealth Device (3)

Stealth Device (3)

I could also do Z95s instead of M3A.... But I like being different.

I'm like you. I usually add naked M3As as fillers instead of zapping Zed's. The exception is in my cartel list which is 3 naked marauders and 2 Mangler cannon spacers.

I think you're wasting Zuck on an EPT that's not really worth it.

If you REALLY REALLY REALLY want to use Bodyguard, I'd set my eyes upon Palob (allows you to play Opportunist) or this little guy:

Gand Findsman (25):

  • Bodyguard (2)
  • Electronic Baffle (1)
  • Outlaw Tech (2)

Total: 30 pts

A mobile little fellow (at a cost) that can generate focus to use BG. You can even add Mist Hunter to it for blocks and shenanigans.

For your Scyk, to fit the theme, you could try this:

Serissu (20):

  • Push The Limit (3)
  • Stealth Device (3)
  • "Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (2)
  • "Mangler" Cannon (4)

Total: 32 pts

An ace-y Serissu to add to your defense while having a bit of punch. A fun way to fly a Scyk, although costly.
