Jack in the box and Taco Bell agree- Del Taco sucks.

Our trip to GenCon always means we enter White Castle territory. J-bot and I stop every year. This past year was not so pleasant on the digestive system as the year before.

I miss my White Castle sliders combo with onion rings and Big Red since moving out west....but my digestive system thanks me.

I've never met you, and willunlikely never meet you,but your name comes up in conversation at least once every time I am friends. Not even Tom Cruise is mentioned that much i.e. you are a bigger star than Tom Cruise.

I've coauthored a scientific paper with Tom Cruise's brother. (I don't know why I felt compelled to share that).

I thought this was going to be a topic about famous people who play the game.... Not people becoming famous BECAUSE they play the game..

Somebody should get a copy of the game to Vin Diesel. He plays DnD, so may like other games.

I thought about this thread today for some reason. On the plus side, our group has definitely made a splash, at least in the Midwest. There are a couple blogs by @MidWestScrub and @Biophysical , which have gained notoriety. A few locals have earned a reputation in the tournament scene, @5050Saint probably being the most known, prolific and successful.

On the down side, until the last month or so, I haven't tried to work on the goal below at all. Like...2-4 games since release until about a month ago. While almost completely ignoring this goal, I've achieved absolutely nothing of note.

PPS - Final vague link back to original post. When Resistance comes out, I'm 100% going to put everything I can into making Poe with BB-8 competitive, ideally, but not necessarily, with Rey. Regardless of how that proves out from a competitive standpoint, I have every intention of being the best BB-8 Poe player on the planet.

Okay, list decision has been made for this weekend.

Creating Loopin' Chewie has to be worth something.

Haha. Bonar.

Slow clap

I totally remember reading your old goal!!! That was you?!

Awesome.

Well, great job, so far.

Your Rey+Poe crusade has Black One's and fake Kyle Katarn's stamp of approval.

I'll go prep your ships now, Cap'n... Just keep BB8 out of my way. He literally just sabotages my work and makes everything take longer. ;)

Are you a Lieutenant, or are you a LITE user?

Lite users must use Hyperspace lists only.

Real life Lieutenants are free to do what they want.

And be infamous.

Hah, well, the slow clap was actually for @atkrull and his final (?) OCX broadcast last night. Thanks for having me on, @atkrull and @RStan !...was a really fun time!

To take a page out of @Deroche 's book, more about me! ( @Bucknife already knows most of this)

After my last post, I did start making steps towards this goal ...

And then what did I do after that top 8 Trial performance? I promptly dropped the list because L'ulo went up. That was kind of dumb. I spend the next several months chasing the meta. I had fun along the way, to be sure, but I felt like I could have ended up with the same (middling) competitive results with the list that I loved. Despite buying a Worlds LCQ ticket, it wasn't in the cards for me to go, which might have ended up being a good thing.

I was incredibly sad to not go to Worlds for a ton of reasons, but with so many highly competitive players off at Worlds and the general Hyperspace Trial malaise, it did mean I could try to take advantage of a #tinytrial the same weekend. Less than a week before this Trial, I still wasn't back on BB-8 Poe. I'd been playing him with Rey, but I wasn't nearly consistent enough with that combo to have confidence at a Trial.

I had been hive-minding a Republic list with a bunch of folks, local and otherwise. Then, I hit a test game where things didn't go my way, which got me thinking, "If I take this Republic list and I don't win the whole thing, will I be disappointed that I didn't bring BB-8 Poe?" The answer was a resounding "YES". So back to Black Squadron, it was! I ended up winning the #tinytrial and got a Worlds 2020 invite! Lesson learned there was don't drop a list you love with which you've had success until/unless any changes to it are proven to hurt it....on the table, not in a headsim.

I now feel like I'm playing with house money. I have roughly a year to try to make BB-8 Poe competitive at Worlds 2020.

I definitely wouldn't say I'm X-Wing famous (or even X-Wing somewhat known for that matter)

But after this year I can say FIVE. CARTEL. MARAUDERS. in four different languages.

It's been a fun year. I'm now on a mission to acquire Cartel Marauder cards from.my opponents in as many languages as possible. 😂

If only you could find the elusive Japanese Cartel Marauders card. 😋

X-Wing Famous, me? Not really. I have a small blog ( Ramblings of a Wargamer ) that used to have a decent following in the UK before I emigrated to the US this summer; I think it's lost relevance to the UK community now as I'm talking about events 3-4,000 miles away, but I try to also talk about the human side of X-Wing; the stress, the emotional ups and downs, etc.

If you see me at an event, come say hello, I'll probably be pulling my hair out while trying to take photos or make comprehensive notes for writing later on!
