When was the last non-Canon release for X-Wing?

By Crabbok, in X-Wing

Everyone holding out hope for the Gunboat.... I hope it comes too, but mostly for the sake of everyone who is in love with it. I'm gunboat-neutral.

But when WAS the last non-canon release? Was it the Mara Jade crew? Hasn't everything since been featured in a Disney-based videogame, book, or TV/Movie?

Pretty sure the Jumpmaster is from Legends material. Dengar himself is canon, since he's in ESB, but his ship is never shown.

I think the last was the GA-1 Starfighter and Jumpmaster. Both not canon I'm almost certain.

I'm going to have to double check that. He can be found in both the book Aftermath and in the new Star Wars comic books. I'll leaf through and see if the Jumpmaster is shown or mentioned...

Is the K-Wing in anything other than that terrible trilogy of books known from Legends?

Well, I'm pretty sure they were in some Dark Horse comics tied into the novel releases. But otherwise, no: I'm pretty sure they're the result of LFL asking "Does anyone know where we can find an author who's somehow even worse than Kevin J. Anderson?" and succeeding.

Bounty Hunter Ships :That's a bit of a stretch. We know each bounty hunter had a ship. It's not like they had to reach very far to find those. It'd be like if they made a Jabba ship - Jabba is Canon so the Star Jewel wouldn't be really pulling too deep from EU.

But Mara Jade on the other hand, has NO anchor in the new Canon whatsoever right now. Same goes for Kyle Katarn,

The Mist Hunter is Legends only.

As are the K-Wing, the TIE Punisher (aka Interdictor) and the Kihraxz.

You'd have to go back to wave 3 for an all-canon wave. If you count the Star Wars Commander as canon, which I still think is weird because not every game is canon after all.

Imperial Veterans.

So I think we've just proven that the last time wasn't all that long ago... Mist Hunter being Wave 8, K-Wing Wave 7... numerous other examples. Yeah, the dream is not dead.

Imperial Veterans.

Only in the sense that it introduced Legends pilots - we see a TIE Shuttle in TESB and TIE Defenders were reintroduced in one of the newcanon computer games.

Again, the most recent EU release isn't out yet. Deathfire McDibs, Gamma Squadron, Countess Ryad and Maarek Steele are all old canon.

Characters though (and a squadron), rather than "new hulls".

Well, the tag "Legends" make these stories neither canon or non-canon as in they could have happen/existed, but the stroy may not be quiet right, which was a nice compromise on Disney's part if you ask me.

Defender is canon, thanks to the Star Wars: Commander mobile game.

Crabbok's initial example is Mara Jade crew.

Its pilots are not.

Kihraxz/Talonbane?

I just double checked and the Punishing One has not made a canonical appearance. I know Dengar is in the comics (in a cool fight scene), but not his ship.

Misthunter has not made an appearance yet, either.

RIGHT! People didn't really read the Disney message when they re-categorized EU into Legends. Personally, I'm loving it as they are obviously plundering it to use in new material, but making it fit and cutting out bad stuff. I found the EU mostly ....OK at best. Dengar is canon and if he shows up with a ship, you know it's going to be the Punishing One. It's true that it's not canon yet, but it's not like they are going to change it.

If you don't think they are going to take canon stuff...just look at Admiral Thrawn. He's set to appear in Rebels Season 3. Sure, that whole novel trilogy isn't canon, but that doesn't mean it's not going to be canon one day. I mean, what are they going to do once Ep 7-9 is done? How much you want to be they are going to make a movie that is at least roughly based on the Thrawn Trilogy?

I also like their version of Mandalorians. More of the honor based culture and less of just hating jedi as a whole. Also the Protectors seem to hint at the True Mandalorians still being a thing. Whether their the new one or not could be up for debate though.

It's a shame that The Clone Wars was cancelled before they could do the Siege of Mandalor storyline.

Yeah, it does seem like the whole warrior caste is not dead, which is good. I think it's too cool to really exterminate.
