So Savage Spirits is out?

By LeighPouse, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Apparently Savage Spirits is now out but the problem is I can't seem to find it :P

https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2016/6/2/savage-creatures/

I've checked amazon.co.uk and .com and can't find it on there (unfortunately I have no FLGS).

Anyone know where it is available online? (pref UK)

Thanks,

LeighPouse

Nope :(

The last couple books took a week to appear on Amazon, and they were third-party only for a few weeks after that. I think they may have limited their distribution to promote the FLGS market and stores.

You're new here, right Leigh?

:)

Leisure Games should have it within the next couple of weeks.

Is this confirmed with LG? As Special Mods passed them by recently...

Well, the Street Date was yesterday - but as always, your milage may vary. My books shipped from CSI last night and should be here on the 6th - which is fine, as I'm still knee deep in movies until the 12th.

Miniaturemarket has it, but I don't know what the shipping would be.

mine is behind the counter at my LGS, but I cannot get it yet as there is only 1 person on and they are helping some build a commander deck and thy guy wants specific hard to find artwork on cards

ok so I have it now. Races: Anx, Ithorian, and Quermian.

Specializations: Executioner, Hermit, and Navigator. None train Lightsaber. Hermit has 2 Force Rating increases

Signature Abilities: Unexpected Demise spend a manuver to add a triumph to a combat checks and crits take out a rival as if they were a minion

Unmatched Persuit: may spend strain to maintain Persuit of a target that disengaged.

Rules: Beast Riding and wildness survival.

Edit: Fixed an error

I do not have the book yet, but doesn't the Hermit have 2 Force Ratings?

Yes, it does.

No, I just assumed they would have the book.

I looked the other day and I have not seen it.

Well there was a copy on Amazon, but I well kinda bought it...

Its not that there aren't stores selling them on Amazon its that people see them and buy them almost as quickly as they get put up.

I looked the other day and I have not seen it.

This is why I simply pre order my books online. Then I just wait for the email that says it's shipped and don't have to worry about it being snatched up.

I preordered through Coolstuff. I never got an email, but the book showed up yesterday morning.

I hate you. My package was originally slated for arrival today, but the arrival date has slipped to friday. Phooey.

Lame

Sadly, none of the new specializations really expand in a useful way what my Hunter/AtaruStriker/FSExile/FSEmergent is already doing. :( I'm already fantastic at offensive combat so executioner is superfluous. In order for me to get much out of the navigator I'd need to heavily invest in skills I've neglected because other characters in the group are focusing on them. The hermit is heavily focused on wilderness adventures and an animal companion that I think would just bog down our group given one of the other characters is already going the "minion master" route with the droid tech tree.

Our game is past the 500XP threshold and has yet to use the chase rules, so Unmatched Pursuit doesn't seem a good investment. As for Unexpected Demise, it would honestly just be overkill for my character like the executioner spec.

I do absolutely love the new Farsight force power and I plan to take pretty much the whole tree (even if the 360 degree vision upgrade is essentially fancy fluff considering our group has ever bothered with micromanaging facing rules).

Some of the starships/fighters are pretty cool, too. :D

Yeah, there's not a whole lot if your PC's main focus is Ataru Striker and being a lightsaber monster, though one of the two new crystals is pretty heinous (effectively spend 2 Triumphs to inflict a Maimed critical injury on your target) in regards to literally crippling the opposition.

Executioner is kind of nice, but it feels there's more focus on ranged combat (especially with the Hunter's Quarry talent, which only works at long or extreme range) than on melee badassery. That said, ghost warlock's case is probably a bit of an exception, what with being at 500XP at which point any character is going to be pretty well fleshed-out in regards to their primary focus. Of course, if the GM is willing to allow the PC to re-spec, then new material becomes more useful to established PCs.

Actually, other than getting the talent to use Agility for lightsaber checks, I've barely touched the Ataru lightsaber talents and have largely used it as a means to getting a couple ranks in Dodge. My character is the group's rifleman/stealth/perception character. I almost never use my lightsabers unless I need Breach - the character is super paranoid about being discovered as a force-user so he'll never use lightsabers except in a Leave No Survivors situation...and that's rare as he sees killing as something reserved only for the most despicable, unredeemable villains. In that 500+ XP, he's killed exactly four enemies, and one was an accident (shot a guy's jet pack causing a fatal fall). He even stuns Storm Troopers instead of killing them.

FFG will send about seven, maybe 10 copies of S.S. to the UK. The quick GMs/Players will get it! The rest of us will be have to wait for the reprint.

Except not really. Executioner's real signature talents all can be used with almost every kind of combat skill (Essential Kill can't be used with Gunnery). It does have allowance for sniper types, but isn't exclusive to them. Heck, the illustration of the Executioner is holding a vibro-ax.

That's so weird. Who in their right mind thinks, "Axe," when they hear, "Executioner?"
