Where the hell is Obi-Wan?

By Jwrein1202, in X-Wing

why isn't there an Obi-Wan crew card? I've only been playing X-wing for a few months but when I first started I was surprised there was no Obi-Wan crew card. Now wave 9 and still no Obi-wan. Maybe with the additional tractor beam shenanigans that appears to be on tap for wave 9 we'll finally get him in wave 10 and his ability will be to..... disable tractor beams. Just seams like a major character in the world of Star Wars would have been included in this game a long time ago. (I'm only kidding about his ability.....sort of).

The weird part is that he was a crew member during the first dogfight in Star Wars. You'd think he'd be high priority for a crew card, but I guess FFG's just biding their time.

He is a ghost! He is found where ghosts are.

Star Wars Rebels?

I suppose if they ever did the Delta 7 fighter he could be a pilot. But then that opens the door for that silly Naboo fighter....and nobody wants that. I was just really surprised he didn't come in the Falcon with everyone else.

Wherein he looked uncomfortable as **** and was all too happy to book it to the common area and strap in.

'When you are declared the target of an attack, you may perform a free boost action, then assign one evade token to your ship and discard this card.'

Sounds about right...

Eh....we're talking about the Falcon vs a quickly-running-away-after-firing TIE Fighter in the "asteroids", right?

No, he stuck that one out in the cockpit. Indeed, identified the fighter before Han did, AND identified the Death Star as a threat before Han did.

He's dead Jim!

Found him.

I'm wondering if he'll show up as a T-65 Only EPT that lets luke use a 'target lock' without his targeting computer/token.

He's dead yo.

And where's Yoda?

He could have an ability to remove any token of your choice at any moment once per round, allowing you to do the movie canon tractor beam token disabling, but could give you toryn utility as well.

He will come, but guess is that it won't be for a while. The only ship he's been seen on in the OT is Falcon, and that's already been released. If he pops up in Rebels on a ship, then that may be a good candidate. Otherwise, I see FFG waiting for the next rebel huge ship. They won't package someone as cool as Obi-Wan with a common ship. They will want to tie him to something significant to drive sales. Given that Scum has 0 huge ships, if they plan on evening the count before adding more rebel huges, it could take a while.

I actually think Grand Moff Tarkins ability would have been perfect for him, considering the whole, "Use the Force Luke".

You know, the Rogue One movie takes place in the time period immediately before Episode IV, and it's obvious that at least some of the Rebellion knows that Obi-Wan is alive and in hiding on Tatooine.

He may get referenced (or even appear!) in this movie or, more likely, a future movie.

That said, it IS surprising that he isn't a crew card already. I think they may have been afraid to not do him justice, or it's possible they have information regarding a future Obi-Wan appearance, and they want to save a card until then.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Crew

Rebel Only

0 squad points

This card occupies a single crew slot.

That reflects his net contribution during his time as a crew/passenger aboard the Falcon.

Found him.

Favorite post ever...

Obi-Wan Crew. Immunity to Tractor Beams. If the ship Obi-Wan is on is destroyed, it becomes more powerful than you can possibly imagine. 2 pts

I personally do not think Yoda or Obi-wan have any place in X-wing. There is a better argument for Ob-wan than there is Yoda, but there have been two Falcon sets now and I don't see him as being anything other than a crew for the Falcon.

In a way, Obi-wan IS in the game. Deadeye feels like Obi-wan helping Luke guide the torpedo without a target lock. The T-65 X-wing also came with Marksmanship (a similar effect as what Obi-wan helps Luke do while flying a starfighter).

But if they did make an Obi-wan crew card it should be as follows:

Obi-wan

Rebel only - Crew

0 points

When Obi-wan is needed most, flip this card face-down and tell yourself to "use the force" instead.

To all of those saying 'Obi-Wan is dead': so are half the named characters in the game. What did Palpatine ever do for a ship, and he's one of the best crew cards in the game.

Agree on Yoda--disagree on Obi-Wan. He was an actual crew member on the Millennium Falcon.

and his contribution was...

"That's no moon..."

:D

He contributed a lightsaber to Luke, who promptly lost it when his hand got cut off. F'ing irresponsible kids these days...

True, although in the Legends EU, Palpatine was using force meditation to assist in large battles, which is what his in-game ability is representing.

Heh, he didn't end up contributing much on the ship , I suppose. Although, it would have been a different movie altogether if Han had listened to him and turned around before they got in range of the tractor beam.

They could make his ability a sort of super-intel-agent. Same as Intel-Agent, but then allow the ship he's on to change their maneuver to one of the same color or speed or something. Something to represent his prescience.
