Wave IX - Reaction...meh

By Segmentvs, in X-Wing

It's more the fact that they bash the fact that they don't get all the legend ships they feel they deserve. Personally, I'm hoping FFG never release a gunboat, just to prove a point.

I take it you don't get invited to parties much?

Fair point, I'd like the BTLB too. Though, i'd probably get a mels for that.

Really I'd like more Rebel Y-wing pilots. Ones with EPTs.

Absolutely. Practically the Y-Wing was the workhorse of the Rebel fleet yet only has 4 or so pilots to its name. If Y-Wings could get a workable Generic like Black Squadron Pilot or Green Squadron Pilots, that would be pretty great.

Wave 5... I can see why you wouldn't like it, but the 2400 is iconic and the Deci is a sexy **** ship. It was my favourite SWG ship after the Y-wing (shadowblade needs to be a title) and Y-8.

Wave 5 turned the game into Turret-wing. I just didn't want to play with turreted ships and felt that way since the Falcon came out. After that, you had THREE large ships with turrets! Few people played a list without a turret. Man, those games were quite repetitive. Only the joy of using a sub-par ship (Tie Bomber) to utterly smash PWT ships warmed my cockles so much I could keep going. :)

I'll say that I'm still "meh" on the Hound's Tooth. Yes, I get that it's effective and has cool things it does. I just.....don't feel it. I don't really use big ships so much and really don't care much for it. It's the only ship besides the Phantom that I haven't bought yet.

I'll probably get at least one of all the Wave 9 ships. I think they are pretty cool.

I think that the wave 9 turret style should have been what they had to start with RE the Shadowcaster.

Doubt i'm alone there by's.

Yes, I agree some more named pilots would be nice.

I was thinking about this recently. There has been a lot of talk about card only expansions over the releases, which don't work, but what a model that combines some of what was done in Most Wanted (cards and cardboard for ships) and what they did with the dual upgrade card? What if they did a dual pilot card, one side for the ship they are releasing, and one side for an existing ship they can pilot? The ship token could also be double sided. No extra dial, as you already have one for that existing ship. I could see them really expand the game that way. That would have worked well for the ARC pilots.

Well, when I do, I don't sit there and complain it wasn't the party I wanted.

With regards to turret mechanics, I hope those for the shadowcaster become applied to all large ships in an errata (like with cloaking). That would create some very interesting setups.

And much weeping.

Considering that I'm mostly a scum player, the model designs and mechanics are very interesting. The Fang is an arc dodger that basically gets its action economy (the effect of a free evade) if it moves within range 1 and in arc of an enemy and the turret of the Shadow Caster promises interesting combos and shenanigans (the possiblity from fleeing from an arc dodger and pointing an anxiliary arc to cover one's escape and nullify autothrusters is interesting).

The only reason that I'm cautiously optimistic instead of jumping around is that I'm pondering whether those concepts will work against more traditional, proven approaches. That and I want something that will make players carefully consider bringing 3 ordnance jumpmasters.

I don't know about you guys, but I must have them all. Maybe two of some. Much excite. Very wow. So amaze.

I generally hate the Clone Wars and anything prequel . . .

What does this have anything to do with the game of X-Wing??? If they release the N-1, it's not like it comes with a copy of the DVD and a Jar Jar doll you have to watch and cuddle! You can either play with a little yellow 1/270 ship or not, depending on how it functions in the game.

I hated the Prequels, too, but I would love to table a Delta-7 Aethersprite with Obi-Wan at the stick. In X-Wing. While still trying to forget about the Prequel fiasco.

OTOH, I love the YV-666. I have always liked Bossk best of the BHs, and always thought his ship was cool. The fact that is works well in play is a sweet bonus, and it forms the cornerstone of the Scum builds just to be kewl. I even did a repaint giving it a cherry red body, white wings, and tossed on some German WWI crosses from a biplane model kit. Fear Baron von Bossk and his Cirque d'Etoiles!!

I don't quite get your point.
