Next wave is on the boat!!!

This may just be FFG stating for a fact something we've all been overlooking.

Bespin Gambit already blurred the lines of the game's "cannon" standing honestly. Lando is clearly in league with the Rebellion (at the very least, he's a sympathizer; at most, a full fledged Rebel operative).

Being a small box expansion, they could not put time period designations on the missions since it is supposed to be a supplement to the Base set. As such, there are clearly some inconsistencies that you could possibly go from the aftermath of Yavin right into a mission where you are teaming up with Lando. Sure, you could rationalize that Lando has been a covert op for the Rebellion before Han and Co head to Bespin but nothing on film really points to that being the case.

This official "change" really only has one effect, IMHO. To date, the game had a more "EU-esqe" feel to it: you were the background characters undergoing missions that fell between the scenes of the movies.

Now it has adjusted to a more "Infinities" feel where players are able to play a more "What If" storyline and re-write some of the minor events as they see fit.

I barely play campaign so take this with a pinch of salt - I'm really not fussed about the time period change at all. If nothing is ever printed with one again will it really matter?

- If you care about playing things thematically, then do so and as a group agree who can go in which campaigns

- If you don't, then just play whatever you want, it's pretty simples.

I mean any competitive FFG SW game already breaks theme a bit anyhow - due to listbuilding. Surely I shouldn't be allowed to run Wedge and Poe in the same X-wing list. I mean heck, why is R2-D2 on Poe's X-Wing and not Luke's?

By removing the time periods FFG is able to release figures without having to worry about them having a campaign boxed expansion to go with them. And the bottom line being that we get more goodies, and figures that many people want to see in the game and FFG get to make more money.

It's a win-win isn't it?

Okay, okay, okay. If you want to put dead guys in a time period they don't belong, all that must be done is look to the glorious EU for the answer.

Greedoo

Obi Waan Kenobii

The Graand Inquisitoor

Makes perfect sense. FFG just forgot a few vowels in the name of each clone...

Bad writing: Luke verses Luuke.

Word on the street is there was also a Luuuke.

According to USPS tracking, I'll have Inquisitor and Obi-Wan in a couple hours. Any questions that weren't answered by the previews?

I think we still kind of are wondering how the Ancient Lightsaber is obtained. Kenobi's preview stated the following:

With the new side mission included in this Ally Pack, you may travel to Tatooine to help conceal Obi-Wan Kenobi from an unexpected Imperial patrol. Despite the dangers, there are still some rewards to be found as well. Your adventures may lead you to find the Ancient Lightsaber, an undeniably powerful weapon.

Not sure if his mission grants the lightsaber as an award or if it grants him as an Ally and the lightsaber is just added to the Item Deck.

It would be cool if it was a reward.

Though that could be sort of lame if none of the heroes were force users lol.

"Thanks for helping me out guys. Here's a lightsaber."

Though I also like the idea of it being a reward and then the heroes just pawning it off for 1000 credits right away. lol

Amazon. They shipped 'em out super early, and with Prime, I don't have to wait very long.

Got mine from amazon in the US, mine are arriving today as well.

Ancient Lightsaber has a credit cost, so Tier III item seems likely.

Mail came late. Anyway, I can confirm that the other two figures have the same "Time Period" disclaimer as Greedo. The Ancient Lightsaber and the Electrostaff are both Level 3 items for the deck.

Oh, forgot to mention: Inquisitor has a little errata, noting that a Ranged Cleave has to be on a figure within line of sight, and within accuracy less than or equal to the original attack. Basically what we already assumed from common sense.

So sometimes Amazon beats MM, sometimes MM beats Amazon.

Anyone else who has Greedo... are your Skirmish mission cards printed differently than all the others? On every other skirmish mission card, if I flip the card over longways, the front and back are oriented the same way,. With Greedo's, I have to flip them the other way. Just want to know before I sell these on eBay as rare misprints for thousands of dollars. :P

Personally, I don't really mind nixing time periods. However, they did it the wrong way around.

They should have kept time periods, however, given an 'alternate campaign rule' that essentially says 'ignore time periods'. You achieve the same basic effect, but the people who care about the time periods get to play it straight, while the people that don't care are the ones who essentially ignore the established rules.

The only real drawback I can think of for this is people not buying it because of misinformation/lack of info 'You can't even use them in campaign!'

Anyway, I can confirm that the other two figures have the same "Time Period" disclaimer as Greedo.

What disclaimer?

What disclaimer?

They all say something to the effect of, "to ensure the raddest possible experience, there's no time period for the cards in this pack and the missions can be used in any campaign."

Miniature Market has the new wave in stock and are processing my order:)

This Inquisitor figure is going to be a nightmare to store without the sabers getting bent. Also Obi-Wan came out of his pack with his saber bent back so hard that it was hitting him in the face.
