Looking forward to Obi, bummed its Greedo and not 4-Lom or Zuckass. Inquisitor implies more from Rebels soon.
Next wave is on the boat!!!
The designers really need to come up with a cool original villain.
IMO all of the original hero characters for this game are pretty cool and seem to have lots of personality for what little of them we're given.
The villains on the other hand are boring. Weiss, Blaise, Somos, and Sorin are all meh.
Yes. I haven't seen season 2, but season 1 of Rebels is a great because Agent Kallus isn't the big bad guy at the end - The Inquisitor is.
We need a bad guy that is intimidating. Like Vader in the end of the first campaign: one that makes the Imperial player feel powerful and the Rebels scared.
We need a new Vader that is cost adjusted to see skirmish play. The Inquisitor is a great start imo.

Given the way we've been rolling through the bounty hunters, I'm thinking that Zuckuss and 4-LOM will be the bosses for the next large box.

I fully expect them to be in the expansion, but hardly the "bosses".
None of the others got big boss status in any of the previous boxes, not even Boba...
Most likely scenario is another new ffg created villain, most likely an imperial.
If it's a scum focused box, we may even get a ffg created scum villain. Which could be very interesting...
A Bib Fortuna type perhaps? A manipulator behind the scenes?
If we get a big scum villain I expect it will be a Hutt, or a Xisor-type.
When we get Zuckuss and 4LOM it'll be cool to see how they work together. You know they'll have abilities that synergize really well.

Perhaps they will be a linked deployment group. We haven't seen it yet, but companions are sort of a bridge to a mixed group concept. It would feel really strange to take one and not the other, so Having Zuckuss be the card and 4LOM a REALLY powerful companion might be the best was to do it.

Seeing as how the rules for companions set them up to always be tokens, I find it very unlikely they'd relegate such a 'major' character to a cardboard token.

Well, Descent had familiars that are treated as figures (block line of sight, etc.), so it would take a single rules addition to include such a companion. Sell it as a boxed set villain pack and you have all you would need, mini and all. It just seems difficult to split the two up, and really, what individual draw do they have to less fanatical players?
Edited by tomkat364I expect them to be a lot like R2-D2 & C-3PO. But I agree they should synergize.

Yeah, give me that sweet Zuckuss! I don't buy many non-ally packs, but I would not hesitate to get my favorite bounty hunter.
As for the next wave, please hurry! I need the Obi-Wan pack, so that Gideon can have his Lightsaber.

Disney owns star wars, so it's not likely they'll allow any villain to be likable at all. only the heroes.
which sucks because good villains make a good story, great villains make great stories. This is why Marvel movies made by the mouse will continue to suck
I really liked Zemo in Civil War. He had a understandable motivation. He wasn't even THE bad guy. He lost his family and seeked revenge. Great actor, too.
I like the motivation of Kylo Ren, too. He has more depth than the 1977 Vader.

Most folks say they enjoy the films. So dont expect any change as long as "the mouse" keeps making the big bucks and breaking "records."

Have you been watching Rebels? They seem to be angling towards making Kallus a sympathetic character rather than just a straight up bad bad guy.
Also Lucasfilm is in charge of creative decisions, not Disney.

What motivation did Kylo Ren have? I think I missed that part.
Hate for his father, that wasn't there for him.
A guy that was a child, that had to act like a grown up, that has grown up to be a guy that sometimes acts like a child.
Following his Grandfather.
The conflict between the light and the dark.
He doesn't feel like being the bad guy, and trys to get things right whithin his twisted view on the world.
I get the complex characters are good and all, but sometimes I just want a bad guy that has no shades of gray - just bad period.

Yeah, I totally did not see any of that in the movie. There was no explanation about why he didn't like Han, no explanation why he was with Snoke, and the thing with Vader didn't make a whole lot of sense. "show me again?" That would imply that Vader showed him something at some point to justify his bad actions, which would completely invalidate Vader's redemption.

But it's all there.
Ren's interactions with Han show why he didn't like him. He wants to embrace the Dark Side completely, his connections to family hold him back from that. We're literally told this in the movie.
He wants to show that he's competent and makes assumptions about what he's capable of that end up falling short.
We don't need to know what he means by, "show me again," his remarks and the fact that he dresses like Vader (even emulating his helmet / voice modulator for cosmetic reasons, only to be called out on it) tell us what we need to know about how he perceives Vader.
Ren is with Snoke for training and as a guide to the Dark Side, their interactions make this really clear.
I get why people are disappointed with aspects of TFA, but Ren is very well executed from a character perspective. We get more nuance and substance in a couple of his scenes than we did with Anakin across the three prequels. Yes, he's immature, emo, and falls short of his potential. He's supposed to.

Or Snoke tricked him?

Okay, I got that he was with Snoke for training. I meant why does he want the training. In the OT, it was very simple. Vader was power hungry, the emperor who was already in power seduced him, and he betrayed the Jedi. Since TFA is OT 2.0, I get that Ren may have been power hungry, Snoke (who has no explained role other than the leader of the first order which is also not explained well) seduced him, and he betrayed the Jedi. At this point, there is no more than that to work from. And so, IMO, Ren is just as 2 dimensional as Vader, only the fact that we already know the other principles means we should have been given some more development to fit these things into the world that we left 30 years ago.
I completely agree, Snoke is very mysterious at this time. Not at all like the Emperor. When Tarkin told us that he had disbanded the senate, and would rule through fear, I immediately assumed that he was an old man in a cloak. Furthermore, I guessed that he would be a "dark jedi" like Vader, and might even shoot lightning from his fingertips!

Well said.
I think Ben Solo/Kylo Ren is by far the best and most interesting character of TFA. Adam Driver has the perfect look for him and plays him perfectly.
Disney marvel movies suck, huh? Yeah I'm sure Disney cries about how bad they are...all the way to the bank.
I do think that one problem they have with the early villains is they just make them tougher regular combat figures. What they are doing with Ben and the inquisitor defies that and makes them interesting. I'm going to do a write up about it at some point, but a unique figure who's only purpose is combat has to be super points efficient to be worth it. Ben has his ability to help attribute tests and move enemies, while the inquisitor is purely a combat figure but he's tough with a high damage output. More importantly though, the inquisitor also had a ranged attack and has cleave which helps him overcome the trouble with melee figures, and then his dodge cancel gives him extra utility as an anti-white die attacker. Greedo is cheap enough it doesn't matter.
