Chewie + R2-D2.
Crew and astromech, now we have it: I thought it was broken? Looking for good combinations
To be fair, the Lambda is supposed to have the agility of an arthritic toad. It's a shuttle. But it does supposedly have tail guns - I suspect a lot of people have wanted Anti-Pursuit Lasers to do something like what Special Forces Training/Rebel Overhaul did.
My suggestion - Shara Bey, Targeting Astromech, Weapons Engineer.
Pull a K-turn, and gain two target locks - which can be used by you, or by another ship next to you. Works even better if you've got an R7 astromech on another guy - that second target lock can be used to fritz someone's attempts to attack you!
With 6 hull, the R5 might be justifiable, but I don't see any specific combinations with that.
C-3PO and R2-D2 is amazing but you're sinking a lot of points into protecting what is essentially just a more heavily shielded X-wing.
Regarding the R5 Astromech and R2-D2 crew.
R5 Astromech triggers "during the end phase..." and R2-D2 triggers "at the end of the End phase...". The wording on R5 could be interpreted to occur at any point in the End phase which would mean that you can trigger R2-D2, flip up a ship crit and subsequently flip it down. No need to wait for a turn.
My reasoning that this should work is that FFG have used much stricter wording before when they wanted a trigger to happen at a very specific point. Take the wording on decloak for example (emphasis mine):
"At the start of the Activation phase, after players have resolved all other abilities that trigger at the start of the Activation phase..."
"At the start of the Activation phase, after players have resolved all other abilities that trigger at the start of the Activation phase..."
Like "immediately", this annoys me. All we need is a second ability that says "At the start of the Activation phase, after players have resolved all other abilities that trigger at the start of the Activation phase..." and we're back where we started. Since they both trigger after "all other abilities", but they're each "other abilities", do they just perpetually wait for the other to be used?
"After you."
"No, after you."
"Please, I insist, after you!"
Decloak may be a little stricter because it's a game mechanic ruling, not an upgrade interaction rule. I don't think we have to worry about any upgrade cards coming out that take place in the same window. It seems clear to me that R2-Dcrew and R5-P9 have different triggers though (end of is different than during). I think the same timing window applies only when they're worded the same.
I don't think R5-P9 works with Recon Specialist. The wording on R5 seems to indicate you can only do it once.
Sure, but it means you don't have to worry about NOT spending a focus token in the turn to get that shield back. You'll have a couple of them, so can feel free to use one during the turn and still have one at the end to get a shield back. And if you had to use BOTH in the turn, it was because you were being attacked and blocked damage with the second, so...ended up saving damage, either way.
I dunno, feels like a decent combo to me. (And FFG, apparently, as the ship comes with another RecSpec)
Well technically that isn't really a new combo. Just have Tuketo with RS as your wingman. ![]()

This is the problem with ambiguous language. Because I think that most would agree that from a language point of view "the end of the End phase" is a point during the end phase. This might have to be FAQ:d ![]()
