Epic Collisions!

By skotothalamos, in X-Wing Rules Questions

We played some Team Epic over Memorial Day weekend and ran into a rules problem.

When a huge ship rams another huge ship, we are supposed to move the ship back as per "the standard overlapping rules." That's all fine and dandy on a straight maneuver, but how the heck am I supposed to sort out the angle of the ship when it overlaps in the middle of a bank maneuver? There's no template to back up along.

We usually just eyeball it and try to imagine a linear transition from the starting position to the ending position, but if you need a hard and fast rule, line it up with the side of the template as close to the end as you can get it. This will lead to some pretty crazy fishtailing, but huge ship banks are already pretty fishtaily.

The fishtaily movement is actually pretty accurate - if you watch the movies, the larger ships tend to "roll" when they begin a turn, resulting in a change of orientation that puts the fore towards the new vector and the aft sliding out to catch up.
