So we finally get the ARC-170

By Kingsguard, in X-Wing

I'm wondering what R3 Astromech is going to do.

What I'm wondering is why an A-wing pilot like Shara Bey is in a heavy fighter like an ARC-170. Norra Wexley makes more sense; it's not huge transition between an ARC and the Y-wing she flew at Endor.

The game needs more A-Wings...

"The ARC-170 Expansion Pack introduces this starfighter to X-Wing as a somewhat sluggish vessel with six hull, three shields, and one agility. It flies well at slower speeds, but struggles at higher speeds, featuring six green maneuvers at speeds "1" and "2," even while four of its seven higher-speed maneuvers are red."

Does this mean we have green hard turns for speed 1 and 2, this thing will out turn pretty much everything if this is the case especially with engine upgrade or what looks to be a barrel roll version with what looks to be ventral thrusters

I'd be surprised if the greens were anything but the forwards and banks. That'd still be enough to basically kill the R2 Astromech from consideration.

I'm assuming the reds are the hard 3s, 4-forward and a K-turn, with speed 3 banks and straight as white.

This was my exact prediction from another thread.

I think Norra Wexley will synergize well with R5-K6.

Don't forget your buddy, the Weapons Engineer!

probably didnt put her in an Awing because that would induce another Awing expansion, since afaik there isnt a superior model Awing like the Xwing they could release instead.

What would they do with said Awing based kit they didnt already do? No matter what they put in it people will rage at it saying its just a moneygrabbing repeat box with a new pilot (looks at the heroes box...)

They could easily just slap in another title to pick from where they get +1 attack or the interceptor treatment of 2 mods, but thats also very bland and basic. Which would also get flak.

Also im one of those oddballs that like seeing the same pilot in multiple ships. It forces options because you cant have both, though afaik right now the only ones that do this are in ships you'd never run together anyway or are a crew card.

I'm just glad it's here.

I called the split in fire power from different arcs. I called the crew slot. Weve been taking about a barrel roll mod for a long time. I am sad to see it max out at a three forward firepower for the guns it has and not have a Canon slot to correct that. It's main guns were for busting capital ships by the way. But for fluff reasons if they wanted to say the rebuilds were stepped down gun wise, okay I geuss.

The lack of a generic irks me a little, but getting four named pilots is nothing to complain about. It also makes it feel like this is a rare ship, if you see one it should be a unique thing in the GCW. Like, holy crap what's that thing doing here? And then you realize oh there's that person in it, that's why.

More over it gives FFG a jumping off point if the Mouse ever orders them to do prequel stuff. They would now have technically as many as three ships Pre loaded for a republic faction. (Y-wing, Z-95, and ARC-170)

And it also makes me chuckle that they put it in wave 9. Why? Because it's a joke! Wave 9 is the "arcs are cool wave!" Fang: front arc is my happy place. TIE SF: look bro, two arcs. Shadow caster: punk please FOUR arcs. ARC-170: two arcs only but ***** 'arc' is my ******* name! Holler!

And gosh darn if I hadn't been desperately waiting for this ship, and it gets announced two weeks before I leave the game. Timing.

What about the torpedo upgrade? Action header, not attack unless my eyes fail me.
