Let's talk about the Shadow Caster from Wave 9!

It is a Jim Hadar ship from deep space 9

Lancer-class Pursuit Craft?

Lancer -class?

I'm definitely intrigued by this ship, and my rampant speculation is that Gyro-whatever will let you do a free arc rotation action if you do a green maneuver.

As for the look, does anyone else get an Enterprise (NX-01) era Star Trekky feel from it, or is it just me?

It's more Romulan looking than anything else Trek related.

So for Ketsu Onyo's ability, it says "At the start of the combat phase, you may choose a ship at Range 1. If it is inside your primary and mobile firing arcs, assign one tractor beam token to it." It doesn't say your mobile arc has to be the primary, so you can have it on the side and a ship can still fall in both arcs?

A little bothered.

Hopefully it has some really cool upgrade cards in there that are attractive to Rebel and Imperial players, because otherwise picking up those sweet Scum upgrades are going to be really expensive, and I'm not terribly enthralled by the ship itself. I mean, it'll be fine , but it's not exactly a new niche (hello, Fang!) in the Scum arsenal either.

I'm disappointed in myself that it took this long to notice Asajj Ventress in the card fan. YESSSSSSSSSSSS

The mobile arc should be a lot of fun. Assuming that you can shoot your primary weapon with it, then you basically have the same level of arc coverage as a Hound's Tooth or Firespray.

If it weren't for the cockpit (something most Trek Ships don't have) I would definetly be getting even more of a Trek vibe from it.

Should be possible if you have your mobile arc on the port or starboard side and the opposing ship is out from the corner of your base where the two arcs meet.

Sadly my initial reaction is that this is the worst ship in the wave. So stats are like a firespray and the cost is the same. Thankfully it at least still has the evade action. Moving the arc requires an action, yuck. I'm not seeing amazing upgrade cards either. Possibly best one is crew IG-88. Tractor beam is great, except there are so many large base ships out there which it's fundamentally weaker against. I was hoping this ship would be like the ghost, primary arc with a turret upgrade slot.

To end on a happier note, I like the looks of wave 9 overall. The fang fighter is way more important to scum than yet another large base ship. But I do like the choice of the Shadow Caster. If Sabine's pilot ability is excellent, that would sell me on this ship.

You put VI on Ketsu, plus the Title, you are handing out 2 tractor tokens if you are close enough and in arc. means you take all large base ships to 0 Agi and those small based ships that are unfortunate to be caught to max 1 Agi, then the rest of your Squadron goes to town. In an ordnance heavy Meta, 0 agi means even a quicker death, Z 95's with Gimps and Cluster missiles could be a bigger thing than they already are.

IF you hit you get 2 tokens. You're guaranteed the first if you have them in arc at range 1. Second token requires you to hit. Against large ships that shouldn't be an issue since most will be 0-1 agility at that point (other than brobots). Against soontir, he's still at 3 agility after the first token, so you still have to get through his defense dice and tokens/palp to get another. Red dice can always fail too, even against 0 agility (I threw 8 dice at a ghost from xizor - 4 attack range 1 attack + full reroll with TL, first attack of the game so didn't have FCS yet to have focus/TL both. Rolled 0 hits in 8 dice)

Don't be. The original image didn't have it:

Weird that everyone keep hating on the ship's design. I actually kinda like it since I first saw it.

You know what I hate? Sunfish. Thank god it doesn't look anything like one of th-

I'm stupid excited for this thing and its manual Turret thingy.

But it also kinda looks like a sunfish. Mola mola, mateys.

Goddamnit.

As you have already said, you should get 2 tokens unless you are going for a tanked up soontir etc. Of course die fail, that's why we play the odds of rolling die. A U Boat can blank out after re rolls, unlikely but it is possible. Should we stop playing them? Of course not, because odds are you will get at least 3 hits if not 4. My post was about using him as a support for your squadron, which I think at PS 9 with VI he will play that role well.If the PS drops in the meta then maybe use something different than VI.

The dial could be interesting. The preview is showing a green 3 bank; I think it would be the first ship with that maneuver.

It is a Jim Hadar ship from deep space 9

I was thinking more like the Romulan Bird of Prey.

But yeah this does look like something from Star Trek.

J.J. you are not mixing up the universes again are you?

Unless the upgrades have something insanely good that I need, I'm probably not going to grab this for awhile. The aesthetics and slightly gimmicky mobile turret just don't flow right for me. Glad that some people really are into it, but just not for me.

Well considering he has ABSOLUTELY ZERO SAY IN ANYTHING REBELS RELATED.

I'd say it's a big fat no! JUST A THOUGHT.

It's a saucer with some engines bolted on. There's only so much originality you can get with that design! :)

I personally quite like the look of this one.

I'm a gonna put syrup on this one cause itsa pancake!

mmmmm breakfast

Good lord. This is really depressing how painfully similar it is to these Star Trek ships. Please stop hurting me and making me dislike it even more. :(

Shut your mouth! The Defiant is a sexy beast.

What is painful is how much wine is flowing from this thred.. If you look hard enough you can find something similar, wrong or whatever in everything... I'm happy with the look of the next wave. For me it has potential to add more cool looking ships and greater flexibility in my builds. The Shadow has a look that will set it apart from the other scum ships. It has a new game mechanic.. (yes,**** a Tribble)... but what more could you ask for... Take a deep breath and be happy that this game is as much fun as it is..
