Dealing Damage Cards

By wilsonodk, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

When dealing damage to a ship, do you continue to deal damage cards past the hull value? The RRG is rather vague on the subject.

Not unless rieekan is on the table. In Armada, ships are removed immediately upon reaching their hull value (so you can't get more points from superior positions, precision strike or other objectives).

So if you had xx-9 turbolasers, did two damage to the hull, but the first one was enough to kill the target, you would not deal a second faceup card and get points for it if you were playing precision strike.

However, as pointed out, if Rieekan is on the Table... Then you can keep dealing cards, and keep scoring points, well into the Zombie Period.

... I love it when someone else answers questions. With Rules Quotes :D

Someone has to keep you on your game =)

Quite the opposite.

Someone's now letting me relax . :D

Dras is right (as usual) but I also wanted to add on a practical note this is one of the fun reasons to choose Precision Strike or Superior Positions against Rieekan. You can turn those zombie ships into points pinatas if you've got nothing better to attack! Quite enjoyable.

Whack a good 150pts in tokens out of the butt end of a CR90. Now that would be hilarious.

I played a game using an MC80c with Dodonna on board and I fired and did 5 damage to a crippled ISD that was on one hull.

My opponent put a damage card on his ship then drew and discarded 4 more for the excess damage. He then drew and discarded 3 others representing the cards I could have looked at to pick my crit effect using Dodonna.

I said "What was the point of that?" and he was certain that was how the game was played. I diddn't object.

When I was practicing my Need for Screed Adepticon fleet against my buddy he ran Rieekan at the time with Precision Strike as one of his objectives. Gladiators with APTs and nothing better to do double-arcing zombie ships and scoring 60 points in one activation did not make him happy. That objective was subsequently changed to Advanced Gunnery.

It is how X-Wing is played.

Not Armada.

Though in this scenario, he technically should have drawn the four for Dodonna.

Not that it matters in practice, assuming a perfectly random shuffle in the deck and no Rieekan on the table.

As a Dodonna player I am going to jump here and say that it is VITAL that people conduct proper damage deck etiquette in Armada.
