Is it me or does the 'fang fighter' look like an backwards Scyk?

By Gadge, in X-Wing

It honeslty looks like someones just switched the fuselage around and moved the cockpit back.

Not a terrible look but its not massively inspiring either.

I had the same thought. Maybe I will just fly my Scyk backwards and call it a fang.

It's not just you Gadge.

They're both of Mandalorian design.

When the Scykycks came out I always thought they were flying backwards because I was used to the look of the Komr'k ship from TCW (basically the large troop transport version of the Fang).

Those mandos have a design aesthetic they like to stick to.

I thought the same thing when I saw the Rebels episode they were in

So THAT is the problem with the Scyk...we have been flying them backwards for a year.

The ETA-2 looks like a backwards Scyk. The Fang looks like Buck Rogers's ship.

Truth.

It *looks* like the fang fighter has the wings as distinct things from the body, so it should be possible to mod it easily enough to break them off and move them out a bit on kitbashed struts or something.

That would help with the look a bit.

But, yeah, otherwise I'm going to need to see both on the table before I decide to go in on this one...

(Only one EPT, too, as the only card in the expansion usable outside it. Granted, it's a new EPT, but unless THAT is the 'hard counter' to jumpmasters...but, then, it seems to say 'scum only' on it, so...wow, yeah, this expansion has literally nothing in it for anyone but die-hard scum players. I think I'm okay with that...)

Well, in Rebels the wings rotate around the body, like the B-wing, and I was hoping they'd put the wing just a bit off center on the model to show it. Really my only complaint.

It looks like the Vic Viper to me.

That's what popped into my head when I saw it. :) I'm not complaining. I think both look. cool.

I, too, keep thinking the Fang fighter looks backward.

<busts out modeling knife and Zap-a-Gap, cracks knuckles, plays Eye of the Tiger>

You mean the way the Syck should have looked if they wanted it to look cool?

That's a funny way to spell better scyk.

I also had this thought when I first saw this ship

My very first game of X-Wing, I got to fly a friend's Scyks. I actually did put them on the table backwards, thinking they went that way :D

Maybe that is why the Scyks suck so bad, they installed the cockpits backwards and have been flying them in reverse this whole time.

You figured out their Secret

When I saw the announcements on the fuzzy photos from the convention, I was initially puzzled - because I mistook it for an FO and a Scyk.

Devil's in the details, as always. :)

Should be an easy enough conversion?

I'd say so; akin to rotating/remounting a B-wing. I would like to see if there is a way to install a socket for full rotation (up to the limit of the stand though).

It looks like a baby decimator. Which looks like a giant backwards scyck, so yes.

Mandal Motors has a pretty consistent design aesthetic. But their ships are far less redundant than Sienar Fleet Systems' are.

How many TIE series ships are there that are just other models with more/different gear strapped on them?
