"Two-seater TIE craft" without a crew slot?

By Benofficial, in X-Wing

Am I the only one disappointed by this? I'm glad it has the rear arc, but man, what a bummer. I know tactician or gunner would be a bit silly on this, but it's in the movie!!

the movie gunner (finn) IS the rear arc

by contrast, the ARC-170 is a 3 man ship; third man's the crew

The Y-wing (not the BTL-A4) is also a two-seater and it does not have a crew slot. The background does not always translate to the game in the ways we expect. The Aux arc and title reflect the fact that it can fire front and back, in the same turn no less.

One member of the crew is flying the ship, and the other is operating the weapons systems. He's not a crew member who's free to adopt whatever role he can usefully accomplish: he has a particular job, which is mechanically represented by the auxiliary firing arc.

Yeah exactly that. The two crew are covered in the ships rules. it is well done too.

:)

i wouldnt want a crew on him anyway.

Theyre expensive, arguably as expensive as a TIE Def without a title (1 less main gun is usually 6-10pts in this game). When given a comm upgrade, sensor upgrade, and EPT hes going to be ~35pts as it is for a 2die ship. Even if he can attack multiple times, thats pricy. Im not slapping a 3-5pt crew on there (though Gunner would be funny on a ship that attacks that many times)

why is this logic not applied to any other ship?

It's the gunner. Same as the BTL-S3 Y-Wing.

You don't have room for a Tactician or Systems Officer, the two people in the TIE/sf are already busy flying and shooting.

What other ships have this "problem"?

No evade action, so Comm Relay is kinda pointless.

And thank the stars for that.

Looking forward to the (hopefully) speed changing Tech that comes with the SF pack, especially with the aux arc.

It is. As others have said, note that in the default (BTL-S3) Y-wing, the weapons officer is represented mechanically by the turret slot. In the just-announced ARC fighter, one crew member is operating the weapons systems while the other does whatever you need her to. The Firespray works just the same way the TIE/sf does. The K-wing works just the way the Y-wing does. The same logic is all over the game.

Y-wing is just ****** up (no EpT, no crew), devs already acknoledged this in inteviews (and by releasing TLT card).
ARC-170 seems just exactly what the Y should have been...

You make a turreted ship with crew, and you'll make the HWK more obscure than it was before. So I very doubt that the Y-Wing will ever have crew, or at least lose the turret.
