I would like to see that.

actual boxes eh? well, that makes me believe the Q3 release then. If they already have them printed then its just distribution and hype-training marketing left.

I think that's Asmodee's positive influence there. Plus FFG getting better at distribution, double plus no major port delays.

... and the Star Trek ship is from Rebels??

Yep. That ship doesn't look SW at all. :(

As I said in another thread, it is disappointing that ships that showed up for 20 seconds at SW Rebels are included instead of an EU ship that has a follow for the last 20 years .

At least, they did a good job in this Wave. I'm afraid they are trying too hard to make ships unique (overdoing titles), though.

Well, Gunboat for Wave X.

So the ARC-170 comes with an evade token, but does not have the evade action. Guessing the R3 lets you swap a focus for an evade once per turn. Which would make sense, given the ARC-170 comes with a Recon Specialist, but only 1 focus token. Super looking forward to this ship. Also, people can stop whining about crew/salvaged astromech, since this ship gets crew/astromech.

TIE /sf is pretty much what we expected. PS9 dude man can theoretically pump out 4x 2Red attacks or 2x 3Red attacks each turn, for a few turns. Good thing he has no shield regen.

Mandalorian Fang is a wanna-be jouster in a game that doesn't really like jousters much anymore. Sure, some of the pilot abilities sound neat, but they sounded neat on Talonbane and we all saw how that worked out. "But stream, this ship has the tools to get where it wants to go!" No, this ship is going to suffer from the same issues that plague the Starviper and Khiraxz, just all together in one package. Still, I'm going to grab a few just to mix with a few Scyks. Make sure to paint them all the same and watch my opponent struggle to keep track of which ships are facing which directions. It'll be a terrible list, sure, but it'll be fun.

Mobile arc is dumb while turrets are a thing. Look at Sabine's card. No EPT, and her pilot ability relies on the Mobile Arc AND having a focus token. So she basically has to predict at least a turn in advance where her enemy will be, which is great with her craptastical PS of 5, or her pilot ability is useless. And every ability with "While in your mobile arc AND primary arc" basically make the mobile arc not a thing either. It's a dumb mechanic, but I'm guessing FFG didn't want to take flak for releasing two large base scum turret ships in a row.

I also have to laugh hysterically at the "get the abilities of all IG ships in your list!"

IG-A - sucky

IG-B - Shadowcaster has no Canon slot

IG-C - Shadowcaster has no boost (hello +4 points for EU)

IG-D - maybe it has Seignors on its dial?

So basically "This card was never intended for this ship, but we ran out of ideas so here you go!"

Edit: never mind that in regular play, you can only afford 1 IG ship after the Shadowcaster anyway! Man, there has to be some other aspect they haven't shown, or this card is pretty much DOA for non-epic play. (And pretty much garbage even then!)

Also, before you accuse anyone else of rushing to anything, you should consider that you're the one declaring the sky is falling based on a preview article.

Ah yes 'the sky is falling'! That thing I famously said.

Here's the post we're talking about:

So now the T-65 has *another* ship treading on it's toes and pushing it further into obsolescence. Heck, even the B-Wing has cause to be worried. 9 HP, 3 attack dice from the front and 2 from the rear, and 6 green moves at 1-2 speed?

Rogue One can't come soon enough.

FIX MY BABY FFG PLEASE

From that post, I gathered that you thought the ARC-170 was so powerful in comparison to its cost that it threatens not only the X-wing but the B-wing, which is arguably one of the ceilings for (generic) efficiency in the Rebel faction. Characterizing it as "the sky is falling" is definitely hyperbole, but I don't think it an unfair description of someone diagnosing major balance problems less than two hours after the preview article went up, with exactly one data point for the ship's cost.

You don't understand. It's really stupid. and I don't accept it. I really don't care if you think it's good or not. I just meant it's a shame I have to boycot Rebels now too.

I have to say that when I heard they brought back Darth Maul in The Clone Wars, I was thinking it was going to be pretty bad. I watched the whole TCW and was actually pretty happy with what they did with him. It wasn't as sucky as I expected.

Next, I think he's pretty freakin' cool in Star Wars Rebels. If you want to boycott Rebels it's up to you, but I'd think it's a darn shame. You would be only hurting yourself.

I don't think the ship is outside the style of Star Wars. Just look at the Outrider and the Jumpmaster. It's not that far off of those.

Also, if you think FFG isn't being pressured to release products that were in the last Star Wars movie as opposed to releasing some ship from a video game from 20 years ago that not everyone has played, then you are nuts. You get one Imperial release per wave and the Tie /SF FO was in Episode 7. There are more people aware to what that ship is more than the assault gunboat.

I think the Mando Fang is going to do just fine, it's got access to Autothrusters and a 2-speed Tallon Roll, and we don't know what the rest of the dial does yet. I love me some Xizor so Fenn Rau is going to feel very comfortable.

Also Iggy Crew can go on other Scum ships, I would assume. Iggy B plus Mist Hunter Zuckuss anyone? Help get that TBeam shot, FCS a Target Lock, try again --> move someone in front of an HLC.

He definitely died in TPM. Full stop.

No he didn't, George Lucas himself brought him back in the Clone Wars TV show.

You don't understand. It's really stupid. and I don't accept it. I really don't care if you think it's good or not. I just meant it's a shame I have to boycot Rebels now too.

Erm. I think perhaps you don't understand. It happened. I really didn't like the way it was done myself. Weird talking snake thing with camp mannerisms luring people down a hole for Maul to eat was stupid. Robot spider legs was stupid. Surviving TPM was **** stupid. But it happened. Accept it or not, it happened and now we must feel the ripples through the force...

scum need a huge ship not a 5th large ship

Epic ships are never part of the official waves. They are probably running into the same problem that the Raider did. That is that there wasn't anything that fit into X-wing that is officially canon. Or...it's been in a few official things, but not really fleshed out proper with Lucas Arts. So, they might have to go to LA to approve all sorts of things. That's why the Raider took so long.

Also, FFG is probably being pressured to come out with relevant stuff to new movies/tv shows/novels and there might not be a good hole in their release schedule that would allow it.

Or it's because a lot of the "scummy" characters own big ships to fit their massive egos along with contraband and bounty.

Not to mention sleeping quarters and room to stretch out a little.

A lot of the Scum are, essentially, independent contractors often acting without fleet support.

The Italian Mafia strikes again!

What a thing to wake up to in the morning. Quite a pleasant surprise. And I'm loving the design on these ships. The use of titles for the ARC and SF is great. We don't necessarily get the 3 Atk in the rear arc, but something interesting.

ARC: Yay, Nora and Shara!!! All uniques is interesting. Can't wait to see how those R3s and Vector Thrusters interact with the rest of the Rebel stuff. Focus to crit in the rear arc is fun. Can't wait to see the dial, as slow as it is.

TIE/SF: Looks nasty so far. 3 Atk in the front, double attacks in the back. Can't wait to see the new systems and tech upgrades.

Fang Fighter: Holy crap. No shields, which is kind of fun. But man, they want to joust. I think they might be the direct counters to Jumpmasters. Because they want to be up close and personal. Fenn Rau, at range 1 in arc, is rolling 4 green dice, with one extra Evade result added in. I think the new Defender is going to have a challenger in the jousting arena. They want to be upclose and in your face. Fun ship. Can't wait. Hoping that 2 Tallon Roll is real.

Shadowcaster: Clearly, some of the image is off. But Sabine is interesting, as is Ketsu. It seems like the Shadowcaster will be giving out quite a few Tractor Beam tokens. Just need to properly support her to take advantage. Like, with Fang fighters. It will be interesting to see how the mobile turret plays out. But, it should stop everyone complaining about another turret.

The fact that FFG had packaging displayed shows that the wave may be much further along than suspected. Available at Gencon?

IG crew will definitely be great for other ships:

Moralo Eval - IG crew, Bossk crew, HLC

IG-88B - whatever

Take a shot anywhere in your 180 degree arc. Miss? Bossk gives you TL and focus, IG-88 crew lets you take another attack with your cannon. Being Moralo Eval, that's your entire 180 degree arc.

Party bus wins again! :D

I swear, I hear one more person go on about how they 'deserve' a gunboat, I'm just gonna buy all the ones at my store and film myself smashing them with a hammer.

You heard the man, Gunboats confirmed in store!

Not to mention sleeping quarters and room to stretch out a little.

A lot of the Scum are, essentially, independent contractors often acting without fleet support.

Man, it's a great time to be a Star Wars gamer. My copy of The Bespin Gambit arrived today, the next session in my ongoing Edge of the Empire campaign is Monday, we have Interdictors and the Liberty class coming for Armada, and now we have the wave 9 announcement. Good times :)

George Lucas also made the prequels. I wouldn't blame Disney for anything since they made TFA. they could have just NOT put him in Rebels though. that would have been best.

You know this is true because you are psychic? If you didn't even know the guy was alive then you have no idea what he added to TCW or rebels.

Stupid oversensitive post button...

Not to mention sleeping quarters and room to stretch out a little.

Eagle 5 for Wave 10! :)

Wait a second, there's already models and boxes of these ship? Will they be at Gen Con?

*pulls out knife*

Alright FFG, just back away from my wallet, nice and slow.

From an aesthetic standpoint alone, the Arc and the Shadow are barftastic. Both look very much like they've been designed by the same people who modify Nissan Micras with huge exhausts and inexplicable spoilers. I'm shocked they're not covered in flip-paint and NGK decals.

From a game perspective, there's nothing lighting my world on fire. The /sf is somewhat how I expected it to be; aux arc with some form of utility title. I didn't expect a bump in shileds at the cost of agility. I'm wondering how viable it is to fly more than two of these in a list if their cost is going to be that high.

The Arc seems decent as something heavy in an otherwise light list. I can see it going well with a bunch of GSPs, contributing to the main attack while also deterring attacks from the rear. It's still not drawing me in at all, though. It's another rebel heavy assault ship.

The Fang looks to be the "meat and potatoes" ship Scum really needed, since Zs usually drop and hit like flies, and Scyks are worse again. The jousting emphasis is interesting, given their lack of shields. I'm curious about their dial...

The Shadow has an interesting game mechanic in the moveable firing arc, but beyond the ability to just hand over a tractor beam token with Onyo, and the IG-88 crew, it just seems like a restricted version of the Falcon.

Overall, there doesn't seem to be anything really interesting this time. That said, when the spoiler articles come, we may see the upgrades bring the ships to life, so I'm reserving any scathing internet mouth-foaming until then.

George Lucas also made the prequels. I wouldn't blame Disney for anything since they made TFA. they could have just NOT put him in Rebels though. that would have been best.

You know this is true because you are psychic? If you didn't even know the guy was alive then you have no idea what he added to TCW or rebels.

I knew Clone Wars claimed he was alive so I stopped watching it. I didn't know he was in Rebels for sure.

Unlike my the depressed and lifeless poster above me, Dex, I am insanely excited...

About the Fang.

This ship has the ability to be an Arc Dodger if it needs to be, but it actually wants the enemy in it's sights so badly. I think the best way to fly it is to PTL it out of arcs of multiple ships, but if you can force a one on one jousting engagement, you'll come out on top. Which is amazing

Sure much of this has been discussed, but gonna post this and then read everyone else's thoughts. :)

The ARC

-I am glad they made it very clear that this is not the prequel era ARC. Things like that help with us who, for whatever reason, despise the idea of prequel ships being in the game.

-Convince me on Norra Wexley’s ability. It seems similar to Weapons Guidance, which is… well, not great.

-Alliance Overhaul is really interesting. Is this the first time they have included an auto-include title from the get-go? There is zero reason to ever not take it, right?

-That torps header is action, not attack…. HUH????!

-Vector thrusters! Barrel roll mod! Woo hoo!

-Shara Bey with Weapon’s Engineer anyone? Maybe not fantastic, but hey, why not?

SF/Tie

-Systems AND TECH! :0

-The art… It’s so… So beautiful…

-While we all knew this card was coming, can we take a second to kind of roll our eyes that this is pretty much the 3 rd Tie which is exactly the same aesthetically. Telling FOs and standard Ties apart was bad enough. Telling these and FOs apart is going to be basically impossible at first glance.

-Oh, look at that. This one has an auto-include title as well. Interesting. Wonder why FFG decided to go this route?

-Someone needs to run Quickdraw with some bombers and drop a bomb on him so he can fire outside of the combat phase! xD

-Missile upgrade, but no missiles in the expansion. Interesting. And in the film weren’t they torpedoes it fired? Anyways…

-Looks like a system slot that promotes barrel rolling. Here we come, B-wings!

Protectorate Starfighter

-More Tallon Rolllllls

-Ooh! Another PS 9 for Scum! That’s 3 now, right?

-Oh… His ability is Talonbane… ish? Well, for attack at least

-Probably least excited about this one. What do we think about the pricing? Fenn is 28 points, same as Talonbane and a point less than a Serissu with a hull upgrade and Mangler cannon. Think this one is going to need a pretty fantastic dial to pick up my interest.

Shadow Caster

-2 agility, ok good. In the overlay image with all the ships, it looks like its agility was 5 hahaha.

- “ Pursuit Craft” ???? Really? I thought Attack Shuttle and Tie Advanced Prototype was dull… Can someone please help out with the ship naming from Rebels?

-Oh man, more Scum crew… I’m terrified already. The pool of incredible crew just got a little bigger.

-Woah. Woah woah woah! It’s turrets done right!! I wonder if they will EVER go back to the old style of turrets?

-LOL. Is there just a single debris token that comes with it? Maybe a card can drop it??? Oh ya! Rig- Cargo looks like you can! Wild!

-Is it just me or did they make a big mistake and not include Sabine in the overlay image? We aren’t getting one of those pilots it looks like… Probably the PS 4? That’s sad!

All in all, not super excited for this wave. Shadow Caster and Protectorate are more love from Rebels which I was hoping wouldn’t be so heavily pulled from, but it’s been 4 of the past 8 ships… Not an awful thing, but they just aren’t as interesting as some of the Legends stuff we could still get in my opinion. As one of those who is strongly against the prequel ships being in the game, the ARC is tough to swallow, but as it has started to be introduced into the Galactic Civil War era, it’s fine. Again, not super excited.

And the Tie/SF is… Well, another Tie Fighter model. But in game, it is probably what I am most excited about. Still a bit baffled on why a missile over a torp, but the system + tech slot has me really excited, and the title seems insane.

Either way, I’m sure I will be buying a good bit of this, and they will exceed my expectations and I will enjoy all of them!

Oh, and one more thing. No Gunboat. Haha.

-Oh, look at that. This one has an auto-include title as well. Interesting. Wonder why FFG decided to go this route?

How would you have implemented it? It's the best way to do it as far as I can see.given how the rest of the game works.

I'm gettin' my Fang Fighter!!!!!!
