Major undertaking. Tl;dr concern and request

Hi guys,

Well, a year in and I'm finally getting there through all the other stuff I've had to do. An entire overview listing for Ristan Subsector, down to rescources in the asteroids, is getting there.

I'm a bit worried that there might be no one to read it. It would be easy enough to pick and choose a particular system, but I'd have to put it in a format people would be willing to look at.

For that purpose I could use someone with a bit of artistic skill and maybe flair. The planets of Ristan sub, at least some of them, need images to go with. Is anyone good enough to do some reasonable color imagery for that? Doesn't have to be awesome but just get the features right. Anyone out there up for that kind of thing?

Thanks a lot.

BTW: would anyone be interested in what I have so far?

My Rogue Trader game is winding down, though I'd certainly be interested in looking at what you have. I definitely lack the artistic flair in order to make anything for you, sorry.

I just got AstroSynthesis 3.0 which may help out a bit. 3d sector maps certainly make things easier visually, if I could just figure out how to share them.

Gotta get to the resources on asteroids.

New version.

I've been working on the file and movie application. The original was a bit choppy with some flicker. This might do the trick.

Also the Sector is considerably more complete than last time. Since I don't control the tour it does tend to meander though.

I tripled the frame rate and then halved the speed with movie maker.

Should be an improvement. I couldn't get a little stagger out of it on youtube, even though there's none on my machine.

I got a still of the sector from above:

And the planetary systems are coming along.

Wondrous rings.

Even from underneath.

I continue to plug away.

I seem to have run into the difficulty of having too much stuff. There are so many directions I can take this is have no clue what to do first.

Suggestions appreciated.

Well, I would be interested in the Planets and what makes them tick and what goes on surface side or near planet orbit

Well let's try this as an example.

syndawell_system_by_sirrunon-da9jkxr.jpg

The Syndawell system. Named for it's prime planet Syndawell. This one's pretty easy since it lacks major orbital facilities. First visited in 887.M13 by the Swiss explorer fleet Vicund Byzant One.

Stellar Cartography:

Spectral Class: O9

Mass: 19 Sol

Radius: 10.5 Sol

Luminosity: 29898 Sol

This star was used as a waypoint due to its possession of planets while being an easily visible O class supergiant. In fact long distance sensors from Earth had plotted the system some three thousand years earlier.

Outward to inward the current Imperial system consists of these worlds.

Zeltorrarium

Class: Mining

Distance From Sun: 39,820,700,000 km

Radius: 2054 km

Gravity: 1.04 G

Orbital period: 996.32 years

Day Length: 75 hours

Mean Temp: 88 Kelvin, -184 C

Atmosphere: 0.19 atm (CO2 89.99%, N2 7.64%, Ar 1.88%)

Population: 45,300,000

Adept Presence: Low, standard accounting adepts, minor ministorum contingent, moderate arbites contingent.

Tithe Grade: Exactis Secundus

Generally a rock with deep delve mines. Ancient systems common to most cold Imperial worlds dot the surface and keep the habitats livable. Highly eccentric orbit. Most common landing point for interstellar travel and possessed of the systems primary spaceport in northern hemisphere. Runs a large contingent of system ships, ore, food and goods haulers.

Perra Graph

Class: Mining Moon

Radius: 4579 km

Gravity: 1.54 G

Day Length: 459 hours(tidal locked to Perra)

Mean Temp: 275 Kelvin, 2 C

Atmosphere: 0.97 atm (CO2 65.68%, N2 9.16%, Ar 19.75%, O2 0.8%)

Population: 297,000,000

Adept Presence: Low, standard accounting adepts, moderate ministorum contingent, moderate arbites contingent. Small Sororitas Abbey.

Tithe Grade: Exactis Tertius

A mining moon around Perra, the Gas Giant 5th planet in the system. Also a really good example of why you should not let angry drunken explorers name the moons on one of your planets. Very high planetary density. Anomalous high temperatures for outer reach world, due to both active volcanism and minimal axial tilt. Ice sheets cover 76% of planetary surface. The rest is lifeless wasteland with scattered, sealed settlements over gigantic strip mines.

Atmosphere: 0.49 atm (N2 60.13%, O2 16.02%, Ar 4.47%, CO2 9.94%)

Population: 85,874,900

Adept Presence: Low, standard accounting adepts, minor ministorum contingent, moderate arbites contingent.

Tithe Grade: Exactis Tertius

An unassuming, very dense, reddish brown, rock with holes cut in it. Unusually breathable atmosphere not immediately fatal. Noted cases of supervisors using strip miners with less than acceptable protective gear being investigated.

Theta Ohitsi

Class: Forge Moon

Radius: 2059 km

Gravity: 0.23 G

Day Length: 20 hours

Mean Temp: 258 Kelvin, -15 C

Population: 361,000,000

Adept Presence: Moderate, high mechanicus presence, minor ministorum contingent, moderate arbites contingent.

Tithe Grade: Exactis Tertius

A lively and productive little moon. Generally just the low gravity subsidiary of Fentex. High production of warship grade weaponry, primarily lances, supplies the dockyards of nearby Port Moseby. Second most travelled to planet in system. Servitors and mechanicus, untroubled by the thin, almost entirely carbon dioxide atmosphere, outnumber non enhanced inhabitants.

I'll move Syndawell proper down here in a little bit. There's an awful lot of information about it I'm a bit too hard pressed to write it all yet.

On the other hand I did expand the other planet and moon descriptions.

I'm not sure if I need to do something quite as comprehensive as that planetary glossary. You can pretty much LOOK at the planet to tell that stuff.

I suppose one should note that Syndawell isn't grey because it lacks life. Syndawell is grey because there's not a square meter of the original planet visible through a mile or more of hive.

Side tracked a little...

but for a good cause.

ram_by_sirrunon-daa1gd6.png

and a very large cause.

Is that a Starbase Fortress

A very specific one. I even have that model.

As far as I know there's one in the maw and one in Jericho.

I'm pretty sure the one in Jericho is colored black though.

Starting to gush on how good this is looking.

ram6_by_sirrunon-daa80k7.png

I am kind of surprised no one knows what one of these is yet.

ram8_by_sirrunon-daa80rd.png

By memory I think FFG has two of them in their parts of the setting.

A Ramilies Class starfort? Didn't Angel of Death say that?

He called it a Starbase Fortress didn't he?

Really I was just copy pasting from over on Dark Heresy 2.0 since they're making sort of almost guesses.

I expected people over here to get it, since Metis is right in the books.

ram_long_by_sirrunon-daa9q6b.png

Really love this shot... but so many parts to color... 2 million vertexes, 1.2 million polygons, more than a hundred(maybe three hundred) separate colorable areas and a partridge in a pear tree... FRESH! *ding*

Is that a Starbase Fortress

A Ramilies Class starfort? Didn't Angel of Death say that?

I guess I just I inferred it that way. My apologies. Awesome concept art though. I have no doubt it took you many of hours to complete it. Keep up the superb work!

I didn't have to make it, thank goodness, just color and texture it. The original file is for sale on the net on one of the 3D sites. I'd better avoid linking that though. I don't know the legal ramifications, nor do I want to get that model taken down. Suffice to say it's out there.

I'll see about getting a Watch Fortress Erioch done after this generic version. Probably more black marble texture.

A Ramilies Class starfort? Didn't Angel of Death say that?

I wasn't sure if it was a pure Ramilies or not, or something he had designed based on it for his Sector.

Well done on the "painting" just the same
