1.mata and kata can move chests ? money ? and what is their role to play them as best as you can ? monsters can be spawned right ?

They've been upgraded in SoB. Their main role is to move potions and coins about the map, but they are a bit naff in the original game. They don't affect monster spawning at all, you need Boggs the Rat for that.

2.can players or monsters attack from dia position when a door is positioned between them ?

Yes, provided that the door is open.

3.heros can rest in town or should they rest on a square on the board?

Put them on the town sized coaster.

4 i play most of the times the lord and after the 4th quest.....i always win when i play against three heroes

Try playing as a Hero instead or allowing the Heroes to have four heroes.

5.big monsters can move and go to another room ? example the twins giants in the second quest can block the way of heroes to go in the room

Yes, but they can't go into unexplored areas.

6.for three heroes i bleive it is impossible after the 5th quest...your opinion ?advice for heroes to play better .......

Make better use of the orders and don't waste time chasing treasure or monsters you don't need. Keep your eyes on the prize.

7.how many cards the lord has at the beginning of the quest ?

Three.

8.about the heroes ....new quest means they lose everything and they start with the basic abbilities and what given from the lords book instructions?

Yes, each game is essentially a one-off. There are some rules for campaigns in the original book, but they're not very good. Get Road to Legend to play a decent campaign.

9.i think i found somewhere a software to create a hero in order to play in descent...is that acceptable ?

As long as all players agree, house rule to make the game fit for you. It's your time and your fun.

10.can heros exchange money or equipment ?

Equipment yes. They must be adjacent and it costs MPs. Money, no.

thank you a lot!

No problems.

Both of them together can move a chest or a money pile according tot he new rules in Sea of Blood. Prior to that expansion, they could not move such things. It's a new rule, but it sounds like a good one to take back to RtL as well, where the lack of potions on the ground was making these two largely useless.

Yes you can spawn monsters near Mata and Kata. They do not generate LoS like heroes do.

2.can players or monsters attack from dia position when a door is positioned between them ?

Yes (provided the door is open of course.)

michael150583 said:

3.heros can rest in town or should they rest on a square on the board?

I assume you are referring to the Rest order. The answer is both. A hero who takes a Ready Action may place a Rest token after doing other things for his turn while still on the map, or he may move to town and place the Rest Order there (at least in vanilla. I think "going to town through a glyph" became an action on its own in RtL, but I could be mistaken.)

You can go easy on them if you want, but I wouldn't > :) . I do recommend always playing with 4 heroes though, even if it means the players are time-sharing heroes.

As long as there's no rubble or anything blocking one side of the door, and no special quest text that says otherwise, then yes big monsters can move through doors. The giants in Quest 2 absolutely can block the door. The heroes will have to kill them (only not really) in order to get them out of the way.

Note that this only works because (IIRC) those giants get taken off the board and replaced later. There is a rule of thumb that says the OL cannot deliberately place a monster such that the heroes cannot possibly proceed, such as the invincible beastman in Quest 6 (7?) cannot stand on the space where the heroes get the only weapon that can hurt him.

I don't think it's impossible, but it might well be very hard. Again, I recommend always playing with 4.

michael150583 said:

7.how many cards the lord has at the beginning of the quest ?

Either two or none. I don't remember if the OL gets a free draw before the game starts.

michael150583 said:

8.about the heroes ....new quest means they lose everything and they start with the basic abbilities and what given from the lords book instructions?

Correct. They keep the three skills they drew when they chose the hero itself, and I generally keep aside the town items they chose to purchase because they usually always pick the same ones again. All other items, training and skills acquired are lost. Unless you play the "basic campaign" which isn't relaly worthwhile imho, or you get one of the advanced campaign expansions.

That's up to you and your group. If you're all willing to permit homebrew content in your game there's really nothing FFG or any of us can do to stop you ;)

There is a "rule" where the designers screwed up in a couple of specific levels and made it so that a completely invulnerable monster could block the heroes and trivially make the quest 100% unwinnable, so they said "don't do that." This does not affect the game in any way whatsoever except in the few broken cases. In base game + WoD + AoD + ToI combined, I think the only relevant case is the invincible monster in JitD quest 6 standing on the quest item the heroes need.

Neither. The overlord specifically starts with 3 cards in hand, then draws 2 more at the start of his first turn.

If you don't remember the answer to a question (and don't feel like looking it up), you can simply choose not to answer it, even if it's part of a list.

That is probably based on hero creation rules created by the actual game designer and available from the official web site. If it is, you should know that those rules will not stand up against optimization. At all. You can use them to make several very broken heroes (as well as numerous pathetically weak ones).

If you want to create your own heroes, I would use those as loose guidelines, at best, and require all players to review and agree on the specific characters you want to bring into the game.

you can still knockback the eternal guardian :)

Turric4n said:

If you say so. I'd have to check the precise wording on the quest, since Knockback doesn't work unless you inflict at least 1 damage.

But that requires that you have a hero with Knockback. And not only is there no guaranteed way to get Knockback, even with all expansions (i.e. there's no shop weapon), unless I'm mistaken, it is not even possible for a hero to get Knockback at all if you are playing with only the base game. The skill that does it is from WoD, and the only weapons I can think of that have it are from AoD.

okay that might be a problem. in toi however there is a startweapon with knockback

With Knockback? I think you're thinking of Reach...

This is correct. Going to town changes your entire turn sequence in Road to Legend or Sea of Blood, and so prevents resting (or taking any other orders).

The Hammer is a shop item with knockback. Two hands, Red + Green, Knockback, 2 surges = +1 damage.

9.i think i found somewhere a software to create a hero in order to play in descent...is that acceptable ?

If you mean this , it says it's based on the rules here . But as Antistone said, you have to be very careful. Those rules can (as with most point buy systems) be optimized to brokenness. Also, "based on" does not necessarily mean "exactly the same as" so you might not be using the official rules if you use an unofficial generator.

My mistake.

Checked the quest guide. The Eternal Guardian "can only be hurt by the Blade of Light." Ouch. " Hurt by"? That's the full extent of the rules for his defenses? Way to be specific.

I've seen that particular program before, and as I recall it's quite faithful to the FFG rules, except that they've got a bunch of identical copies of each race (with different names) for no apparent reason.
