Which new figure will make the biggest splash in Skirmish?

By Rogue Dakotan, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

We've got:

  • ISB Agents
  • Agent Blaise
  • Bossk
  • Wing Guards
  • Ugnaughts
  • Lando
  • Davith
  • Murne

Which of the above do you think will make the biggest splash in the competitive scene? Which will show up the most?

I've tried Davith and like him a lot, but I don't expect he'll be even close to a go-to or a meta maker.

I expect we'll see the Wing Guards and ISB agents popping up more than the other new figures, though Lando seems like he could be very powerful.

Personally, I think that the combo of Bossk and eWing Guards will be popular. Mercs now have the troopers that they need to compete, and Bossk seems to function very well for his cost.

I agree about Davith: he's a really cool piece and I think he'll have a place in several squads, but I don't think he'll be big enough to change the meta.

Lando neither...very strong piece, but I doubt he'll replace the Twins in Rebel lists...though he could join them, and that might be a thing.

Bossk and eWing Troopers as other have said. Heck for the 1 xtra cost of Temp Alliance, I can see all of those eStromy + eSnowie lists going to x2 eWing Guards with the eSnowie.

Bossk gives me hope theyll redo Core/Wave1/2 uniques.

I think Lando/Blaise will see some play as well. Blaise cuz he is rolling 3 dice.

Blaaaaaaise! *shakes fist* ;)

eISB agents will have the biggest impact.

Non unique deadly will shape the way lists are built.

To some degree. It won't effect eStormie + eSnowie builds b/c they aren't rolling whites (except their 2 officers). It won't impact Bantha builds that much, perhaps on the Nexu (but they shouldn't be in line of sight if played correctly). I can see this greatly impact the Twins/Sabs build though for sure.

I hope so too. Any change in point cost on those figures would be far less drastic than what they've already done with the Guards, Sabs, and Officers.

Just my $.02

1. eWing Guard

  • Reshapes Scum and give them a lot more horizontal options.
  • Will see a lot of play in Imperial as well. I think 1x eWing splash is the way to go there. As a trooper player I will happily pay 10points for a group of these baddies and having less Guardians on the field will help Keep the Peace. Something like 1x eSnow, 2x eStorm, 1x eWing, and 1x rOfficer looks pretty solid to me.

2. eISB

  • Has one higher top damage than eStorm when they have the hide
  • Gives access to some possibly bonkers good spy cards
  • Coordinated Raid has a high skill floor to get the most millage out of, but also has a reasonably sized impact
  • As mentioned above, deadly on a non-unique could really hurt white die using models. Rebel Troopers, eSabs, Heroes, our boy Bossk, etc...

Honorable Mention: Our boy Bossk!

  • Dude is a beast, but not a front line fighter. Limit shots to this monster and he's gonna do some murdering; leave him out to dry and he'll drop faster than Luke.

Edit: Fixed some typos, left others.

Personally I'm really disappointed in the eISB's getting deadly. All of the progress they are making with Hero list viability just went out the window for the most part. I played a 5 w die Rebel hero list at a regional to pretty good success, yet now one of the biggest boons to my list has been easily negated.

As for impact, I think Bossk will see a lot of play. A full Trando list with Under Duress is scary good at killing Command Decks AND units.

Also, Davith will see play once people learn how ridiculous he can be. I consistently did 3-4 damage with him every attack on Black dice defenders and literally ALWAYS got his Fell Swoop to trigger. He is the epitome of "Assassin" in this game.

The eBespin Guards are awesome. They are better eStormtroopers. And you don't have to think about too Long what to field with them. Bossk, Trandoshans, Gideon, C-3PO, Duress, Bantha, ...

eWing Guard and Bossk will have the biggest impact.

My love for the eWing Guard (and their now weaker cousins eStormies) is no secret.

I think the threat of eISB further invalidates rebel lists, which already struggle to be competitive (seems to be a common trend in both IA and Xwing). But they probably won't worry Imperial and Merc lists much. They might tame Nexu's a bit perhaps which isn't a bad thing since it's quite a strong unit.

I have him in my regionals list. I've got in some practice with hims and he is really fun. If he's focused he's getting fell swoop off. And the best part about fell swoop's wording is it says "two spaces" not two movement points, so if you want to attack the same guy, you can do one free damage to him by stepping into his space and back out of it before your second attack! :D

That seems awesome, but do we know if it specifically means two spaces, ignoring enemies in those spaces, as opposed to just gaining movement points? The wording definitely seems to be two spaces regardless, but official confirmation could be nice.

It says "Move up to 2 space". The official statement you are looking for is in the RRG. Just look for "Move up to X spaces".

You're right, I must have missed that. Thanks!

Davith + Efficient Travel = Good Times

Davith also likes Slippery Target.

Move next to me? I'll just cut you up as I run away! neener neener neener!

eISB

They have the option of deadly, which is amazing, but evades will come up more often on white die so be careful.

They destroy black die, not only do you get +2d, you also get 2 different options of pierce 1!

Davith looks insanely good.

Bossk.

If nothing else because people will want to say "You've been Bossked!"
