A look at the New Items

By Deadwolf, in Imperial Assault Campaign

Vibrosword (BG ~Bleed, ~+2d, 1S: +1 Pierce): While we really didn't need a 5th tier 1 melee weapon, it is at least a pretty good one. Blue isn't usually the best on a melee weapon, but the +2 dmg surge, the strain for Pierce 1, and 2 mod slots more than makes up it. Balanced Hilt+High Impact Guard works really well here and gives tier 3 level damage when you spend the strain. Best on Diala, but also works on Davith if you choose to skip Shrouded Lightsaber.

Shadowsilk Cloak (Exhaust for-2 acc or +1 evade): While getting decent weapons in tier 1 should still be a priority, this is a potentially very strong effect than can cancel a lot of damage. This is also potentially broken with Davith, who already applies -2 accuracy via hidden.

Weighted Head (Exhaust for cleave 1, ~Cleave 1, ~Cleave 1): I was really excited about this mod until i realized that this a Balance mod. That means 3 of the 4 mods in both tier 1 and 2 decks are balance, which sucks for the 2 mod melee weapons (and this mod does not really work with high impact guard). It is still a good choice on both the Vibroblade and BD-1 Vibro-Ax (with Gaarkhan/Verena). Compared to Balanced Hilt, you are trading single target damage for extra cleave damage damage for around the same total damage (although there will be times where that extra single target damage is need to get cleave at all). The best setup is BD-1 Vibro-Ax w/ Weighted Head & Shock Emitter.

R5 Astromech (gives a droid that can draw cards from crates) : It is a nifty effect, but the benefit is very random. I personally probably wouldn't buy this.

Sniper Scope (+1 ~ if attacking from 5+spaces away): Tac Display is the best ranged mod in the game, and this essentially gives you a 2nd one. Albeit more restrictive on what it can go on (tho the fact that it doesn't exhaust makes it potentially more powerful)

Disruptor Pistol (GR +2 Acc, ~+3d): Don't let the 2 dice fool you, this weapon hits hard. With Tac Display, it is on par with Pulse Cannon w/ tac, for considerably less credits. It does hit considerably less hard if you don't get the surge, but is still a solid weapon. Jyn can use this as her offhand, and DL-44 as main hand for strong effect (it is about on par with sporting blaster main and dl-44 off). This weapon is also a very powerful with Verena's Point Blank Shot.

Never underestimate the power of the Supply Cards :D

Seriously though, those things are game-changers. Rebel players complain about the Secret Agenda cards, but those supply cards are nuts. Exhaust a Regular deployment card, AOE stun and Yellow die of damage, AOE red die of damage, +2 Damage and +2 pierce on an attack, plus all the bonus credits - any time you can get a supply card without taking an action, it's amazing.

For the record, the droid doesnt give you bonus credits, because you are simply drawing a card, not actually picking up the crate. It does mean that you could use the droid to get a card, then pick up the crate for a 2nd card (and bonus credits).

I dont think it is bad, but i would probably rather just use the credits on a weapon.

The crates themselves are not the only way to gain credits. 200cr from Valuable Goods is always great and is even greater when it does not take any actions from the heroes. If you have Mak with Supply Network, it will be even easier.

However, R5 may not be worth it in the minicampaigns. In a full campaign or extended minicampaign R5 would probably be more than worth its credits.

Like a1bert said, you can get bonus credits from some supply cards too. But yeah you don't get the token with the droid - though there are other abilities that let you pick up a crate without spending an action.

I've had missions go from difficult to easy with a good card draw. Best example was trying to get to a terminal that was on the upper part of the bridge tile. I was coming from the complete wrong direction and would have to wade through some estormies with Saska, except I grabbed a create and drew the grappling hook. Zoomed right up there just a couple of spaces from the terminal.

Tac Display is the best ranged mod in the game

Disruption Cell gives a similar (better or worse depends on the weapon) damage boost without exhausting. Unless you want to make absolutely sure that you can stun something with the sporting blaster I think it's more than worth the extra credits.

I do agree that the disruptor cell is in general, better than tac display for most of the 3 dice weapons, due to not exhausting. Ive found that it isnt overly good on most dice weapons however. And on some weapons, Plasma Cell beats them both.

I always try to get both tac display and plasma cell. Tac display goes to high strain characters as it will often end up being used to remove strain, and plasma cell to the character that is shooting the most often to maximize damage.

I know it won't be the most competitive team but it would be fun to get a group with Mak, loku, jyn, and mhd with r5 and just burn down the supply deck every mission.

That said, the two droids you can buy are both pretty neat. The cam droid has an interesting effect, giving the heroes a control effect they wouldn't normally have

I believe the Cam droid is the reward from Murre's red mission. It is pretty interesting tho.

We now know that Cam Droid is indeed the reward for Panic In the Streets (Murne Rin's mission).
