My go at tiny spaceships

By WGNF911, in Star Wars: Armada Painting and Modification

Thanks y'all!

Fellow painters, if you haven't tried the wet palette technique, I highly recommend it. It adds a bit of time to "setup" but it's soooooo nice. http://www.fullborerminiatures.com/articles/wetpalette.html

I was lining some interceptors last night, one in blue-grey, one in red, and when I was done with the red, my blue-grey (one drop) still had not dried out. It makes the paint a lot easier to work with without thinning it too much. Then all you have to do is occasionally wet your brush to keep it from drying.

My take on Demolisher

I'm liking where that Demolisher is going.

Demolisher looks good. I am trying a few ledbelcher schemes at the moment too. It's a great colour.

It looks good after a Nuln Oil wash too. I discovered that Vallejo's "Natural Steel" is almost exactly the same. The gun upgrade on the corvette above was painted with the natural steel then washed with Nuln Oil and I can't tell the difference.

I like to wash it with Nuln Oil, then lightly dry-brush it with Ledbelcher again. I find it loses a bit of the metallic sheen otherwise. I'll keep an eye out for the finished Gladiator, as those panels look great so far!

Thanks! I based it in black-grey (think charcoal) and now I'm putting on the leadbelcher layer being careful to keep it out of the panel lines. Wherever it bleeds down, I'll probably hit it with a heavy pin wash or try lightly scraping it out with an Xacto.

The Crimson Blade received an ion cannon upgrade. Who needs sensors when you have Mando gunners?

Those Mandalorians... Always Overcompensatin'...

I like the green engines on that Corvette. Really makes you wonder what they're using as fuel.

Thanks! Believe it or not, they are actually yellow. Well, yellow base, orange wash with a layer or two of bright neon yellow. They do have a green tint to them in the pic. But I'm wearing a bright green shirt today so I think the gloss coat I put on them might have caught some of that reflected light

I imagine that's what a TRC should look like, given how much boom it has...

It looks like an Imperium CR90 with how massive that sucker is (in a good way) :) !

So Fel is the leader of Saber Squadron and there now is a Saber squadron so how do you put them both on the board? Soontir gets an upgraded TIE Interceptor with enhanced solar arrays. Of course the Emperor's escort has to have the new toys also.

Mucho awesome! I too like the lead belcher look...

Been busy, but when my art conneusieur brother called painted miniatures art and me an artist, I had to paint him some tiny spaceships. First, probably my best TIEs to date.

Those look fantastic! I'm struggling with Ties right now. I think I have to slow down with them.

They are deceptively easy. I think that TIEs are probably the most difficult . . . except for maybe interceptors. They do take more time than you would think.

Or Defenders.

Defenders were pretty easy. Just annoying angles and dangles.

That's my only gripe about them as well.

The TIES made me remember that I wanted to ask how to paint the TIE cockpits nicely? I tried several techniques but none came back with results satisfying enough. Maybe I should paint the whole black then carefully paint the frame?

I've taken to doing a drybrush of dawnstone to do them, as it's incredibly difficult to do the Defender's for me.
