Corran: The Jedi Hunter

That build out-points all the ps9 aces. You don't have to kill them, just prevent them from killing you and you win.

What are your thoughts on pairing him with two Blue Squadron Novices, one with R4D6, one with R3A2, both with Integrated Astromech? No bid, but you get stress control, which Fel, Inquisitor, and Vader aren't fond of. You align the stressX with where you think your target us moving, then they have to either get stressed or do a double reposition to avoid it, opening them up to shots from the two other ships.

The loss of a bid is scary. If your opponent brings Inquisitor, Jax or OL you have a problem. More than 2 and it might be a fatal problem.

That's a really good idea that had not occurred to me. Lots of beef and damage. Similar to VCX in role oddly enough.

I think OL is not a problem. She TLs Corran, and then the Blues burn her down. Inquisitor is more of a problem, but a single Blue can block a lot of his options. Jax is probably the biggest issuenames but I think his damage is low enough that you can go after the Inquisitor first if you run into both. I'm not too sure about that, though.

Honestly I don't think any list can or even should be able to hamdle every situation effectively. I think the real trick is figuring out the ways to handle those problem lists, and building a list that isn't so flawed it has too many problems. It sounds like depending on his wingmen Corran can handle a wide variety of issues though, making him seem like a strong center to me.

Corran with Biggs is a monster. I have been flying him to pretty good success with Biggs r4d6 to eat torpedoes and ezra with elusiveness, ABT, chewie. Corran has draw their fire to keep Biggs alive, FCS for damage, hull upgrade for anti wampa, and R2D2. It's super annoying and pretty alright. Goal is to get Corran to the end game.

Corran Horn, in any load-out, is unplayable right now in competitive X-Wing.

25% of your match-ups you should expect to be Triple Scouts or Double Scouts. They will wreck Corran fast, especially since their first Plasma Torp is likely to do extra damage to him (even if Corran has three evade results, he's still losing two shields). They can also block Corran's maneuvers (especially his Greens) with ease, denying a PtL Corran actions.

75% of your match-ups you should expect to be fighting some variety of Palpatine Aces or Triple Imp Aces. In these match-ups you'll either be facing off against two PS9 aces that will effectively neuter Corran's offense -or- Wampa (Wampa + Palp = dead Corran in two turns). Even if you can kill Wampa before he kills Corran, Omega Leader can solo an ace like Corran.

It doesn't matter what you pair Corran with, as he is terrible in both of these match-ups and these should be the two match-ups you should expect to play throughout most of the day at a tournament nowadays.

This is hyperbole. I played in a regionals of 90+ players and in my 8 games I faced two palp aces and 1 jump master squad. Play what you like.

Really? At every tournament 3/4 players are Palp Aces and 1/4 is Contracted Scouts?

Hmm somehow I doubt it.

Jedi's are a thing in X-wing? I haven't seen Luke in a while I think he went into exile after TFA. Yoda and Obi Wan cards have not been made and Vader and Palp are Sith not Jedi.

A Jedi-Hunter not a Hunter of Jedi.

Spent a few days thinking about this option. Decided the tweak I would run for competitive:

Only problem I see is that this Corran is more stress vulnerable than the original idea. Also I worry about Biggs keeping up with a Corran that wants to be whipping around the field and hunting aces. I suppose he can arc dodge around though, but then he has the stress to worry about.

Corran is a bit more squishy, yes. But Biggs can get him through most of the ordnance and heavy early damage.

Here is my favorite way to fly corran nowadays. If you can find the video of this kid going up against bro bots, I highly recommend watching it. That awing was vip lol
