My dream Title for Old X-Wings

By Jared B, in X-Wing

Just let Rogue Squadron die... I get it, I do. I loved the books, enjoyed the games. But, as the new movie, Rogue One, is seemingly taking the Rogue title, and coupled with the fact that Empire Strikes Back had a group of T-47 Snowspeeders as Rogue GROUP, the new fiction seems to paint the Elite X-wing squad of the movies as only being titled RED squadron.

A Rogue Squad title is NEVER going to happen. Yes, whe have Legends ships in the game, but a ROGUE title that doesn't relate to any canonical film use would confuse fans. Not the hardcore ones, but the less.. Devoted.. Fans.

Disagree with all of it.

To those concerned about the canonic nature of Rogue Squadron... To my understanding Rogue One never has been about elite pilots in the least, in fact I don't think the squadron's famous callsign will be overly prominent. Besides it is more than possible for 2 squadrons to have the same name: blue and blue, black and black, and I believe shadow and shadow all exist in the cannon. Additionally I am fairly certain Rogue Squadron being a thing is still cannon, since little is being done concerning trilogy material, pre and post yes, but not mid, nothing has as of yet forced Shadows of the Empire and therefore Dash out. Besides by this logic we need to drop Kyle Katarn since he was involved in the theft in the old EU, and won't be in this film. And here's my 2 cents about the old EU and new in regards to X-Wing, X-Wing is kept alive by the core fans, and for those less devoted I doubt they would protest a cool new ship and pilot regardless of the fluff. So Fantasty Flight should absolutely keep on making the film ships, but I feel that the EU ships that we all love deserve a place too. No they don't belong in core sets, but once you get players hooked they will play what they enjoy flying, be it EU or cannon. And who knows, a few pilot cards from the EU might make them want to delve into that old cannon a bit.

Ohh and FFG clearly has some love for the old Rogues given how many of them, even the more obscure ones, have a card in the game, heck the rebel pilots with EPT's in fighters were EXCLUSIVELY rogues for a long time... That's long been my theory on why Arvel and Salm don't have EPTs while Ten does.

I'd rather see Rogue Squadron than an E-Wing or K-Wing.

And I've read no books or comics and the only games I've played are Battlefronts I and II.

But even I know the name ROGUE SQUADRON.

My point exactly

And before anyone gets sarcastic, I knew of Rogue Squadron before I knew of Fantasy Flight Games!

I think the Rogue Pilot card would work if it was limited to at range one.

So you'd have to check range to every ship on the board before any ship moves or fires to make sure you know exactly what PS your Rogues are at?

No. Thank you.

We already have a card that increases initiative for zero points. If this one only worked for every Rogue one pilot at range one, then it could be for zero points too. It would take a slot and be situational, but at zero points it would get used often.
