Meta is a word I first (and last) read on the X-Wing forum. Must be an FFG thing.

I get the ships I like and learn how to use them. Then I fly them together. Don't care about the latest must have list. Because it will be replaced by the next must have list.

I choose the joy of collecting what I like over what the Meta Gang say I must have to be successful any day.

One of my little cards is Outer Rim Raider. It cost 6 points and is SCUM Only... of course. You get an Engine Upgrade; Free Barrel Roll and one Evade token at the start of each round.

The idea being that as a Raider you have gotten very adept at hiding in and ambushing from asteroids and other cover such as nebula.

I fly what I want, and I don't need anybody else to tell me how I should play this game. Whether that's competitive or casual, I don't need to have somebody tell me what ships I should fly. This thread was made solely to circle jerk, and really isn't about Star Wars at all.

My experience has been very different, with alot of the casuals taking some moral high ground about how they're superior because they don't fly "meta lists" and only care about having fun instead of winning. It's almost if fun is subjective...

Some people do enjoy their lists and that's fine.

What stinks are those who feel their list is the list everyone must play. Lists they don't approve of people are stupid to use. I'm sure you've seen such people who think their opinion is LAW and their experience is UNIVERSAL FACT.

I am aware it's a blade that cuts both ways. Some seem to think you're not playing the game properly if you're hooked on lists. But some people enjoy that. Their HAPPY comes from finding what works best and playing it until it becomes outdated and the next best list is discovered.

As long as they're happy, and don't try to impose their OPINION on everyone else, I've no problem with them.

It's the angry squad who demand everyone plays the same as them and spit bile at anyone who doesn't who I believe to be the target of this thread.

Be careful about that, some people have low post counts but have been playing the game for a long time....

For instance I have been playing since wave two but have a very low post count.

I have already seen JB7 in this thread demean someone's comments because they are not in the thousands.

The quality of the comment not the quantity is what I look for.

These forums are kind of awesome. There are a few problems here and there but it otherwise has a pretty unique blend of [herbs and spices] competitive discussion, casual fun, Star Wars fandom, comradery (despite my stupid smart phone thinking I'm trying to say comms radar)... And breakfast... And other food...

As long as there hasn't been a big news drought that is. Then we go crazy reverting back to every other forum I've been part of.

You make a good point that I hadn't noticed. Forum chaos is happening because they frackin haven't released a preview of wave 9! Now that I think about it, my recent posts have all been puh-do entirely because I don't know what wave 9 is going to be. Wave 9 makes all things right in the meta, guaranteed.

The only question is, who will play The Rocks black friend? Gotta be somebody tough as hell so they can accurately recreate that fight scene! That was the most brutal real fight scene I've ever seen in a movie. Anyone who doesn't believe me has to check it out. Rowdy Roddy actually takes a bodyslam to the pavement! Brutal stuff.
