Armada in a minute - another time lapse video battle report

By Maturin, in Star Wars: Armada

Hi all,

Wanted to post a video of my game today - I'm fiddling with this time lapse app and trying to make Armada games quickly digestible. Take a look and please offer any suggestions for making the game easier to watch. Should I have it play faster? Slower? More frames? I know I need to zoom in a bit more, but it's tricky to do.

My opponent had Demolisher so I knew I needed to go first - luckily I underbid him by two points. We played Superior Positions, and he surprised me by deploying in the opposite corner from me. He did a good job keeping his ships together to use their Gunnery Teams, while I failed to give my MC30 enough nav commands. As a result, it made a single firing pass (which it whiffed despite Ordnance Experts) and then was largely out of the rest of the game.

In the end I killed his fighter cover (Howl + 2x TIE/In) and a VSD, but he killed all 3 of my Nebulons. 6-4 win to him, Mov 68

IMO, i like this speed. Easy to step backward to catch parts I missed. Good job!

It is good to make a video longer/ time lapse slower for games that you predict might involve a lot of ship maneuvers.

Perfect speed! I love the way this shows Armada's "dance."

Nice video, easy to follow. What type mats yall playing on? FFG ones?

FAT mats from Frontline Gaming. They're quite nice - my only complaint is a bit of inconsistency in the intensity of background black amongst the mats (I have five). Otherwise they've been great.

very interesting game, I'm a bit shocked the mc30 lived on it first pass as a only target for 3 ships.

:D

Too bad it couldn't roll a crit even after twelve black dice rolls.

My only criticism: add some music.

Great vid!

Ok, done. Now updated with music!

Perfect!

Mind if I ask for the full list? It's looks fun I'd love to fly it (or something similar).

Nice speed on the video too.

Thanks! Here you go:

- XX-9 Turbolasers ( 5 points)

[ flagship ] Nebulon-B Support Refit (51 points)

- General Dodonna ( 20 points)

- Intel Officer ( 7 points)

- Slaved Turrets ( 6 points)

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57 points)

- Yavaris ( 5 points)

- Intel Officer ( 7 points)

MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63 points)

CR90 Corvette B (39 points)

- SW 7 Ion Batteries ( 5 points)

1 Wedge Antilles ( 19 points)

1 "Dutch" Vander ( 16 points)

Fleet created with Armada Warlords

Nice list, but I think I'd switch the escort for another Support, keep the Intel+TRC.

Switch the B for an A with TRC and Jaina's

Switch Dutch and wedge for YT1300 and YT2400.

And add Heavy Turbos on to the 30.

12 point bid.

That would definitely increase ship based firepower, at the expense of squadron capability of course. I just love the bromance that is Wedge + Dutch, taken to the extreme with Yavaris. :)

Abracadabra, I resurrect thee!

Made another time lapse video, with wave 3/4 stuff today. My opponent brought his shiny new Interdictor, loaded up with a Grav Well and Gravity Shift upgrades. I absolutely, positively couldn't resist choosing Fleet Ambush from his missions after I chose to go first.

He put the Grav Well token in the middle of one half of the ambush zone, and a line of obstacles in the other half. Luckily I was still able to sneak in my forces in all the right places, and the Ambushed ships let my squadrons deploy all the closer.

I added some commentary subtitles. Yes, I'm working on getting music in. Patience, patience. Hope you enjoy!

I really enjoyed both videos! I also think that the subs in the second video added a lot to my viewing experience.

Great work!

When did you move the obstacles with grav shift reroute? i didnt notice that happen.

I'm glad other people are doing this too! It's a great way to watch a game.

The last two asteroid placements are actually the grav shift token flinging them into a new position. It's hard to see since the tokens are so small.

Many thanks - your original video was my inspiration!

Awesome! As you said, I really think this is a great way to watch these ships fly. I hope to make some new videos as well once I can get some Wave 3/4 games in. Keep up the awesome work!

Wondered, asteroids move after deployment.

After rereading the card it's clear we played the card completely incorrectly. We thought it was able to move the obstacles to within distance two of the token,,,,which is a much bigger distance!
